Hi and thank you for your answer and for the system information,

I haven’t tried the extra plugin because the site sends emails fine (Wordfence, WP, Contact Form 7, Woocommerce). The plugin shouldn’t be required.

You make a good point. However, based on my experience, the WPmail method does fail for certain specific uses (for many technical reasons, including how the web host is set up).

I was just curious to see if you had tried it and if it helped. This has been super helpful to many clients experimenting the exact same issue as yours.

Based on the system information you have sent me, there are a couple of things worth investigating:

    • Your server currently uses PHP 5.3x which is known to not play well with some of our plugins functionalities. In fact, WordPress recommends using PHP 5.6x + . In my experience, 5.4x is fine for the moment. So if at all possible, after backups and instructions from your web hosting company, you might want to upgrade that.
    • Could you also please go through our complete testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out. In other words, we want to rule out any incompatibility.

If you find that your theme is the cause of the incompatibility (as opposed to a default WordPress theme), could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Good afternoon Marios,

Thank you for your reply and for being transparent about your very unpleasant experience.
This helps us grow and improve in our ways.

Again, I truly apologize about all the time you had to spend over this.
This will not buy you back your time and efforts, but please know that you are fully entitled to a refund if you want one since you are within 30 days of your purchase. To obtain the refund, you just need to follow the procedure described here.

Moreover, I am truly sorry that you had to experience such a terrible experience which, as you pointed out, is not representative of how things normally go with our plugins.

On a personal note, from now on, I will make a point of add much stronger disclaimers to that type of procedure.

I also edited the WPML setup page to make it clearer that we are not supporting WPML for our other plugins and add-ons yet: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-the-events-calendar-with-wpml/

To answer your question, improved WPML compatibility is scheduled for late summer / early fall at this point.
I unfortunately do not have a more precise date to offer you, nor can I provide a complete list of enhanced compatibility at this point.

All that I can say for now is that this is at the top of our new features priority list (hence all the behind-the-scenes efforts).

I truly wish I had a better answer for you, but complete honesty is the very least you deserve at this point.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Good afternoon Robbie,

I’m sorry to hear that this did not cut it.

I also want to apologize for the delay answering. Please note that our support team is unfortunately out on weekends.
For the record, I actually want nothing more than to solve this issue as quickly as possible for you (as I fully understand that this is terrible for your business).

The main issue at this point is that I am struggling to replicate this specific issue on my installs (although I can clearly see it on your install).

After some extra digging, it looks like the solution would be to remove the “pattern” attribute from your WooCommerce button code.
Most likely this piece is added by another plugin or some customization. Normally, this attribute is not there on basic installs.

To get a clear idea of what I am talking about, see the attached image

    pattern

The best way to pinpoint where this is coming from would be to go through our complete testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Hello Carly,

Alright, keep me posted on how the SPF records go for you.

As a side note, I personally had to contact Microsoft to get added on their “white list” at some point because of a similar issue.

You might also want to give that a shot or at the very least inquire as to why you are being blocked and what they recommend.

    Best regards,

    Good afternoon Gene,

Thank you so much for submitting the feature request. It’s truly appreciated.

In the meantime, is there any way we could get the community events list extended to show description and cost as a bug fix?

    That’s a great question.
However, technically, this would unfortunately not qualify as a bug since those features were never implemented.

In the meantime, your best bet would be to perform a template customization / override specifically targeted at the community list view.

You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works. Check out the section that is dedicated to the Community Events plugin.

If that is slightly outside of your comfort zone, you could hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.

Thank you for your understanding and valuable feedback.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Good evening and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!

Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.

    1. Can un-registered users add an event utilizing the Add your Event Form?

Yes, but only if you set it up like that (via the “Allow anonymous event submission” option).
This option is available through our Community Events premium add-on.

    2. Can the form be edited?

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but the short answer is yes for the most part.

Via settings, template overrides / customizations or even third party plugins, you can:

    • Decide what field is mandatory
    • Customize what web visitors view. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.
    • Add extra fields (with the Events Calendar Pro)
    • Add extra custom fields with Advanced custom field
    • Hide fields you don’t want to see

    3. Can the changed form capture the name and email address of said un-registered user?

Yes, you can as long as these are mandatory fields.

    4. Can certain fields on the form be mandatory?

    Yes. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/required-fields-for-events-submission-form/

    5. When someone posts an event, do I get an event posted notification email?

It depends on your settings, but yes. You can even tweak the notifications further (to different people for example) via the use of a third party plugin such as better WordPress notifications.

    6. If number 3 can be done, can the captured information be sent to me in the event posted notification sent to me when someone posts?

This might require some customization via the Themer’s guide, but it is totally achievable.

    7. Can the add your event form and/or link be added to other spots on the site?

You can choose the URL for the Community Events add your event form. But that’s pretty much it out of the box.
At best you could provide a link to the correct URL on other pages.

    8. Can you give log-in credentials so I can have a look at the form at http://wpshindig.com/events/community/add

That’s a great question. Not to my knowledge, but let me double-check on Monday.

As an alternative, you could use our awesome 30 day refund warranty to check it out on your own install.

Another alternative is to take a look at the screenshots and videos here: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events/

    9. Are the choices of venues on the Add an Event form?

Yes, as you can see here: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Good evening Carly and welcome back!

I’m sorry to hear that my previous suggestion of plugin did not help.

When you say it’s not working, could you give me some details ?

    • Did you have a hard time configuring the plugin ?
    • Did you use it’s test feature ?
    • Is it only not working for Hotmail accounts ?
    • Have you tried using different types of email accounts while using this setup (Gmail, personal, etc..)

A couple of other ideas would be to add SPF records to the email account you are using to send the emails (you might want to see with your webhost how to go about this).

Could you also tell me which webhost you are using ?

    Have a good week-end,

    Geoff B.

Good evening Barnabas and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us and for the system information.

We are sorry to hear about the timezone offset you are experiencing while using the ical importer.
I would love to help you with this topic.

Just to leave no stone unturned, could you:

    • Describe the exact procedure you are using to get the iCal importer file for the main domain.
    • Provide me with an example of that file so that I can run some tests ?

    Have a good week-end,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the fact that you are getting an error 500.
I would love to help you with this topic.

I believe you are referring to this snippet: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-the-ticket-form/

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?

In the meantime of course, you could restore your site by removing the snippet.

    Best regards,

    Good evening Karly,

Thank you for your awesome support as always.
It’s truly appreciated and your feedback keeps us on our toes (in the best possible way)

We absolutely don’t like it when a bug lingers. I can promise you that you will be advised as soon as it is.

    Good evening Diego,

    Thank you for writing back.
    Your explanation is very clear.

Unfortunately, at this point we do not have a solution that would do exactly what you are looking for.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.

That being said, stay tuned. We are working at providing the ability to have separate tickets for each event in a recurring series of events.
Although that still will not be the full solution you are looking for, it will already be much closer.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.
