    Hi and welcome 🙂

    1. Can you change a one-time imported event to a scheduled import?

I just created a one-time import and it doesn’t appear I’m able to change it to a scheduled import.

If not, is there anyway to automatically update the one-time imported event?

    Unfortunately not.

    2. Is there any way to pick and choose the events you want to import when previewing during a scheduled import?

Not at this time, but we welcome your input over at our UserVoice Feature Ideas.

I hope I’ve sufficiently addressed your questions and please let me know if you’ve got any additional inquiries. Cheers!

    Hello 🙂

You could grab the .ics link from site A and set up a scheduled import on site B. You could use this snippet to import events by the year rather than month (calendar view) or whatever events appear on the List view at the time of export.

    • https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-wordpress-export-tools-to-migrate-events-content/

Let me know how it works out! Cheers 🙂

Mind sharing links to both links you’re attempting to import events from? Please visit Events > Imports > New Import and fill in the screen as you’ve been doing thus far, then take a screenshot. Next, visit your Events > Settings > Imports screen.

I’ll also need you to review our Testing for conflicts guide so we can eliminate the potential of a theme and/or plugin conflict. Please make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page and in your error log as you try to reproduce the conflict.

I also recommend right-clicking your mouse and opening the ‘Inspect’ tool to see if any errors display in the console. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.

Keep me posted and have a great weekend ahead. Cheers!

    Hi and welcome back,

Sorry to see you’re having troubles with Visual Composer. We’re fairly limited when it comes to conflicts with custom themes and plugins by other authors. I know Visual Composer is a very popular plugin, so we have a feature report logged and are currently discussing whether or not we want to officially support conflicts with Visual Composer. Please review our What support is provided for license holders? Knowledgebase article for more information on the matter.

This unfortunately means at this time there is not much I can do. I’d start by reviewing the Testing for conflicts guide to narrow down the exact source of conflict. I’ll also provide some other resources which help with the troubleshooting process:

    • Our Favorite Developer Plugins
    • Handy WordPress Web Developer Extensions & Tools

Please make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page and in your error log as you try to reproduce the conflict. I also recommend right-clicking your mouse and opening the ‘Inspect’ tool to see if any errors display in the console. Note what you find and please include it in your reply. I’ll then see if your findings lead me to a possible solution/workaround.

I’d also try searching our forums in addition to general web searches to see if you can find any more info on the conflict and again, hopefully find a solution. I’m unsure of Visual Composer’s support policy, but it might be worth reaching out to them over.

I’ve included this thread to the feature report we have logged which the developers will review when discussing the matter. I don’t have any timeline when this feature can be expected in a future release, but I’ll gladly update you here if/when that time comes.

Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you and best of luck. Cheers!

    Hi Phil,

Sorry to see you’re having issues with performance on your site. What do you have entered into the Events > Settings > General > Clean up recurring events after and Create recurring events in advance for settings? Can you decreasing the number of months you have entered for the Clean up recurring events after setting?

I checked our logged bug reports and am not seeing anything relating to what you’ve shared with me. I’m also not experiencing any similar behaviors on my test site. I see you checked ‘Yes’ to reverting back to the default WordPress theme and deactivating all plugins other than ours as instructed in the Testing for conflicts guide, but can you please confirm this?

It also might be a good idea to review the Testing for conflicts guide again, but this time make sure you have WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG are enabled on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page and in your error log as you try to reproduce the conflict.

I also recommend right-clicking your mouse and opening the ‘Inspect’ tool to see if any errors display in the console. It also might be best to check the Debug mode option under Events > Settings > General > Miscellaneous Settings. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.

I’ll also provide any relative resources I have relating to performance below:

    • https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Optimization
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-basics/
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-month-view-transients/
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-basics/
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/the-events-calendar-performance-considerations/
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/favorite-developer-plugins/
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/problems-with-minification/

I notice in your System Information you don’t have a caching plugin (from what I can tell). I use WP Rocket on all of my sites and it’s probably some of the best money I’ve ever spent. Their support is fantastic as well. Here are some other resources worth checking out that can help in a variety of ways:

    • Our Favorite Developer Plugins
    • Handy WordPress Web Developer Extensions & Tools
    • Customizing WordPress #2 – Using Chrome Developers Tools
    • Downgrading a plugin to a past version

Lastly, if you’re on shared hosting, it might be best you look into a more powerful hosting solution. DigitalOcean is my personal favorite, but I also hear great things about Pantheon. I hope this helps address some of your concerns and hopefully leads you towards a resolution. Best of luck and have a great weekend ahead. Cheers!

    Hey Sean,

Welcome back. If you have not already read over our New User Primer, it’s a great resource. I’d also check out the Settings Overview: The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO tutorial.

Unfortunately, any feature/functionality not currently available in the plugins will require you to make these customizations yourself or hire a professional to help further assist. I’ll post any resources that might help get you stated in the right direction below. It’s always a good idea to search our forums in addition to general web searches to see if you can find any working examples.

    • Changing the Text of Filter Bar Titles
    • Understanding and customizing the Tribe Events Bar
    • Configuring Filter Bar
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/adding-custom-filter-to-filter-bar-3/

Sorry I can’t do more in this instance and please take a moment to submit any recommendations you have for us via our UserVoice Feature Ideas. Have a great weekend ahead and thanks again 🙂

    Hi and welcome,

Sorry to see you’re having troubles. I’d be happy to help investigate. You mention you reverted back to the default WP theme and deactivated all plugins other than ours, but did you do this at the same time? If you did not review the Testing for conflicts guide and follow the instructions exactly as they’re written, it’s highly recommended you do so as it will help identify the exact source of conflict.

When testing, it’s key you have WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG set to “true” on your site’s wp-config.php file. Any errors will display at the top of your page and in your error log as you try to reproduce the conflict. I also recommend right-clicking your mouse and opening the ‘Inspect’ tool to see if any errors display in the console. Note what you find and please include it in your reply.

    I visited this event: http://66a.c2d.myftpupload.com/event/bell-book-and-candle-saturday-040817/

It appears the tickets are displaying properly:

I mimicked the event details and the tickets are displaying for me as well:

Did you update TEC, ET, ET+, or PRO yesterday while you were setting up events and tickets? What about any other major updates (to your theme, other plugins, etc.) If so, is it a possibility the events with tickets created prior to updating are not displaying tickets, and events with tickets created after updating displaying tickets?

I skimmed over our logged bug reports but am not finding anything resembling what you’ve shared with me. This typically means it’s an issue with settings, a theme/plugin conflict, etc. Obviously there is the potential a bug is present, but until I’m able to reproduce the behavior there is not much I can do.

I visited this event and opened my Inspect tool. There are a plethora of issues you may need to look into which are likely a contributing factor:

There might be a few errors/warnings/notices in the console related to Google Maps (which we’re aware of), so what that in mind, look out for any you think relate to the missing tickets. Check out our Using Google Chrome Developer Tools tutorial for more info. This Customizing WordPress #2 – Using Chrome Developers Tools YouTube video is also pretty handy.

You could try to downgrade to see if that has any effect on the behavior. Well… that exhausts all potential causes I can think of at the moment, so please respond to each question I’ve posed in the most descriptive manner possible. Screenshots and screencasts are always helpful.

Have a great rest of your day! Cheers 🙂

I noticed what he provided differed from the results you seek, but depending on your technical prowess, I was thinking it could at least get you started in the right direction. Try searching our forums in addition to general web searches… you might be able to find a working solution. Regardless, I appreciate you being so understanding about the situation and we’ll be sure to notify you as a response in this thread when this feature is available.

    Have a great weekend ahead!

    Hey Rebecca,

Thank you for sending over more information on the matter. At this time, the only data we’re able to pull back into WP from Eventbrite includes the ticket information (which is display via an iframe) and featured image. We have a feature report aimed to include more data, such as event description, title, etc.

The most efficient way to ensure all changes on your WP site match up with what is on Eventbrite would be to delete the event from your WP site then reimport it. I tested things just to make sure the process went without issue and it appears everything worked as I’d hoped for.

Obviously this is not an ideal workflow, hence the aforementioned feature report. I’ll include this conversation to the list of related threads for the developers to review. Doing so also helps increase eyes on the matter and hopefully gets “fast-tracked”. I don’t have any sort of timeline when this feature will be available, but we’ll gladly update you as a response in this thread in addition to add that info to the plugin changelogs and Release Notes.

I hope this clears up a) how things currently work, b) your current options as a workaround, and c) our plans on addressing this issue. Let me know if you have any additional questions or comments and have a great weekend ahead 🙂

    Hey Casey,

Seeing this thread was opened back on March 2nd, there have been a few releases since then – which may have included patches for issues you originally opened the thread. Can you update all MT plugins you currently hold active licenses for to their latest versions? I see in your license and System Information that you have an expired license for Event Tickets Plus, yet it also appears Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus are in your System Information’s list of installed/activated plugins.

If you are running outdated versions of ET/ET+, this could be a contributing factor to the issues you’re experiencing. I also notice in your screenshots that you have multiple plugins unrelated to The Events Calendar activated and possibly a custom theme active.

Can you review the Testing for conflicts guide so we can narrow down the exact source of conflict, whether that be TEC, PRO, Event Aggregator, ET/ET+, or a combination of the five.

Once I have that precise data, I’ll be more prepared to further investigate the matter. Lastly, I went ahead and tested to see what I could find out using the .ics URL you provided in an earlier response and mimicked the import as best I could based on the screenshots you shared with me:

In an nutshell, I didn’t experience any issues. The preview showed 5 upcoming events, which I selected and imported which performed with zero issues. For a control, I used the event titled “Friday Night Fellowship” on April 28th, 2017 from 5pm-7pm UTC-5 (American/Chicago), and it matches up to what I see in the .ics file when opened in a text editor:

Event imported properly with start time 7:00pm and end time 9:00pm:

Exactly as it shows in the text expander for this particular event:

It’s also displaying properly when viewing the event details on Google Calendar. Notice it’s displaying from 7:00pm-9:00pm because it is honoring the difference of UTC-5 (where you’re at) to UTC-7 (where I’m at):

Try setting your WordPress Settings > General > Timezone to “UTC-5” (b/c Chicago is currently in the UTC-5 timezone) and save your changes. Then, visit Events > Settings > General and scroll down to the bottom. There should be a button which says, “Update Timezone Data” – click it.

Once you’ve done that, so long as you have the “Use the local timezones for each event” dropdown option selected, your events should display the correct time.

If I were to visit WordPress > Settings > General > Timezone and change it to “UTC-5”, then revisit Events > Settings > General and hit the “Update Timezone Data” button, the events would then display from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

You may need to delete all existing events (make sure you visit the back-end of your events list (Events > Events, select the “Ignored” option near the top of your screen, and permanently delete/remove these events from your site so you can re-import them without risk of past data convoluting your newly-imported events.

Check out our Working with timezones tutorial to ensure you’re using the most optimum settings for your setup.

Thanks for working your way through my latest novel and let me know your thoughts/concerns/insults on the matter. Cheers and have a great weekend!

I’m happy to see the majority of issues have been resolved thus far!

That [the grey box on narrow screens] will most likely require some CSS magic to get things looking/feeling how you want regards to the mobile view grey square. I attempted to compare the CSS on our demo site to your site but came up empty-handed and am not permitted to spend more than a few minutes on these types of customization/conflict-related tasks.

I’d start by re-reviewing your custom templates in [your-theme]/tribe-events folder (if any) to ensure your code matches up with the plugin’s latest version. I quickly skimmed our logged bug reports but am not able to find anything resembling your behavior, nor am I able to reproduce it on my test site.

“Show Filters” deselected on narrow (similar to mobile) view:

“Show Filters” selected on narrow (similar to mobile) view:

Granted, there are open bug reports relating to how the Filter Bar looks/performs under certain circumstances such as narrow viewport size, but as previously mentioned we don’t have any bugs resembling the grey square you’re currently experiencing.

As previously stated, the Customizing WordPress #1 – How To Create A Child Theme by LevelUpTuts and Customizing WordPress #2 – Using Chrome Developers Tools YouTube videos are great visual examples of the process of creating/editing customizations and saving them properly.

Sorry I can’t be of more assistance in this situation and best of luck. Cheers 🙂

    Welcome back,

After more research on the matter, it appears this is a commonly requested feature but at this time borders on the line of customization support which we’re unable to cover: What support is provided for license holders?

I found this relative thread from just a few months ago where a user provides a solution, though I can’t guarantee it will work on your site:

Here are a few other threads relating to the topic, so maybe you can come up with a working solution:
    • https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/email-rsvp-help/#post-1141037

Try searching our forums to see if you can find any working examples. I wish I had a better answer for you but we’re just not permitted to spend time supporting unofficial features which means you’ll need to handle things from here on out.

Should you come up with a working solution, I’m sure other users would be forever thankful if you shared it as a reply. Let me know if I’ve cleared up our position on the matter and best of luck. Cheers!

@Mathew – thank you SO MUCH for sharing this helpful KB article with @Danna!

I’ve been working here for over a year and never knew this Knowledgebase article existed – so I’ve bookmarked it and will be sure to remember share the next opportunity presented. With the many years TEC has been around, I’m still learning of new documentation available in our vast Knowledgebase.

So again, thanks for helping out here and have a great weekend ahead to the both of you 🙂
