    Good evening Graeme,

Thank you for the follow-up questions.

Do the events have to be on my Facebook page? Will it work if the event is on the client’s Facebook page?

No, the Facebook events do not have to be on your page, they can be on anybody’s page. You can even import from multiple pages if you need to.

You can absolutely display events based on a criteria of your choice (in this case state/province).

Is there a shortcode to display a list of events by state or province? For instance, if I have a page for Michigan events, can I use a shortcode to list all of the events for Michigan?

To do that however, you will require a copy of the Events Calendar Pro plugin which gives access to a bunch of fantastic features, including shortcodes. You can see them here.

Is there anything else I can help you with ?

    Have a great day!

Good evening Mike / Karen / Rebecca and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the issue you have been experiencing with the upcoming events widget. We will gladly try to assist you on this topic.

It is also great news that you have already tried deactivating and activating all other widgets.

With that in mind, as a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your system information in a private reply ?

Another thing you might want to try out is to temporarily change your WordPress theme to a default WordPress theme (such as twenty-fifteen) to see if the issue is still there.

Finally, what would be super helpful is if you provided a link to the website that has the current issue.

    Thank you in advance.

    Have a great day!

    Good evening Aindreas,

I actually work from the east coast, but mainly on the night shift (although this can vary depending on the day).

The good news is that whatever time I end up working, you should get an answer to your questions within 24 hours (except on weekends). In fact, this is what our support terms and conditions offer you 🙂

So in short, please feel free to send your questions at whatever time is more convenient for you.
You can rest assured to always get a response.

    Have a great day!

    Good evening Aindreas,

Thank you for answering my questions, as it makes it easier to help you back 🙂

If I may ask, do you know which email the ticket confirmation gets sent to? As in, where do you enter the email address which determines where the confirmation gets sent to?

The behaviour might slightly vary depending on your Woocommerce settings, but normally:

    1. You receive an order confirmation email while the customer receives a purchase receipt after the initial purchase.
    2. Once the status of the transaction is set to complete, the customer receives a ticket email

That being said, based on your system information, it is very possible that you have indeed been experiencing issues with your WooCommerce tickets, for which you apologize.

The reason for that is because we no longer support the WooCommerce tickets plugin. It has been replaced by the all inclusive Events Tickets Plus. This is why all of our WooCommerce tickets plugin have received a free upgrade to Events tickets plus.

As a first step, my recommendation would be for you to upgrade to the Events Tickets Plus plugin using the following instructions.

Let me know if you need any help with the procedure.

    Have a great day!

    Good evening Louis,

I am glad to hear you are looking into setting up a staging environment.

The good news is that you do not actually need an extra license as the following post states.
You can just move them around 🙂

    Good evening Scott,

Thank you for your reply and for the requested information.

Based on that information, there are a couple of things I would recommend trying out:

    1. Could you please go to Events -> Settings and navigate all the way to the bottom of that page until you reach the Timezone settings. Once there, could you change the setting to Use the local timezones for each event ? Let me know if that changes anything.
    2. Can you also tell me what your WordPress setting is for the timezone under Settings -> General ?

    Have a great day!

    Good evening John,

Thank you for your answer. That does confirm my suspicions.

You see, template overrides always have priority over our core and premium plugins files. You can get a better sense of this if you temporarily deactivate a default WordPress theme (e.g.: Twenty-sixteen).

Normally, that should result in your issues going away (but please let me know if it doesn’t).

So this leaves you with 2 options for now:

    1. Contact the Enfold theme author and see if there is an update available.
    2. Take a shot at making these updates yourself using our Themer’s guide.

The reason for that is because even if a theme is compatible with the<b> </b>Events<b> </b>Calendar, any update of the plugin can break these customization (even though that is not our intent of course).

In other words, these advanced elements or any customization might require some code update after our plugins get updated. This is why, based on our policy, we do not offer support for template customizations.

That being said, we still try to get our valued clients started on the right track.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    @eastlife

Thank you for your contribution to this thread.

You are right, there is no option for removing image uploads. Since it is not a required field, your best short term fix would be to hide these fields using CSS for now.

Also, in order to make sure you get the proper attention and notifications, could you please open up a separate thread if you require additional help on this topic ?

    Thank you for your understanding,

    Geoff B.

    Good afternoon Martha,

Thank you for all the thought and time you continue to put into this.

There are a lot of topics contained in your previous reply.
As such, I would like to address each point separately to ensure every question and concern you have gets answered.

At this point, I would be happy to spend up to $500 to hire a programmer to fix this for me in the next day or two if that is an option. I would really like to use the Community Calendar for this year’s SWAN Day, and it will be excellent publicity for you if we do.

Thank you for for that generous offer. Just to clarify, we do indeed take this bug very seriously. This is why our best developers were already assigned to this.

The good news is that they have fixed the bug and the patch is undergoing code review currently. We intend to release an official patch next week, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

With that in mind, as already promised, I will make sure you get that patch before it gets released. I realize it does not make up for all the issues caused by the bug, but it’s the very least I can do.

We currently have the program set so that any event that is submitted goes to “Pending Review.” My tests indicate that if the user is logged in when they create the event, they will get the email notification. If they aren’t logged in, then they won’t get the email because the system does not have a user email address for them.

I am sorry to hear that my suggested path did not help with providing a workaround.
Once again, thank you for trying it out.

It looks like I could just delete the section that starts “Here is the information we received. . . ” in order to solve the problem of sending weird emails to the logged in users.

As a temporary solution, it could work, at least partially.

The reason I am saying partially is because, unfortunately, it wouldn’t solve the issue with the title of the email being the title of the uploaded media.

It looks like the events are showing up ok on the calendar views even though they don’t seem to be logged into the database properly. I am concerned that the incorrect database entries will cause problems further down the line. I am happy to share a Dropbox screen shot of the database entries. Please tell me what email address to send them to.

I am curious about this specific part of your reply.
To the best of my knowledge, the bug is not being caused by improper database entries.

But since our goal is to leave no stone unturned when it comes to fixing things, please share with us any information that would give you the impression that this is the case (including screenshots).

The best way to share screenshots would be via a cloud service link (Cloudup, Dropbox, Imgur, etc..).

As a side point not directly related to my immediate problem – in your next release, it might be good to take a closer look at the way the system works when the user is not logged in. It does not seem to require them to fill in their own email address at any point,(there is a line for the “organizer” email, but that might not be the same as the user’s personal email).

That is a very interesting suggestion.

Currently, the only way people are able to submit events if they are not logged out is when the Allow anonymous submissions setting is checked under Events -> Settings -> Community.

Technically, the fact that there is no requested email for anonymous submissions is expected behaviour.

That being said, if you would be interested in such a feature, you could:

    1. Submit it to our user Voice forum (where people vote on ideas and the most requested one get included in our plugins).
    2. Through a template customization (done by yourself or by one of our recommended customizers), change the required fields for anonymous suggestions. On that topic a great read to get you started can be found here.

I disabled the login requirement for testing purposes, but it will be back on when we make the calendar public. I need to force people to log in before they create events so that I will be sure to have their email address in case there is a problem with their listing. Otherwise, I don’t really need them to be registered as users on my site since we don’t let them comment on our blog. The only reason they would need to register for the calendar is if they plan to go back and edit their event at a later date.

In that case, I would advise against using the Allow anonymous submissions setting completely.

I do understand you point about not needing them to be registered on your site.

From a technical point of view, as you have guessed, being registered on a website is the only way to manage who can edit what event.

The good news is that you can totally control what each user can do (capabilities), especially if you use a plugin such as Members. If you haven’t already, please read the following post on this topic.

I am worried that the registration process will discourage folks because it has too many steps – they click add an event, it tells them to register, they register and have to wait for an email to set their password, and then they have to log in before they get back to the add an event page. Also there is not enough text on the login/registration pages to tell them why they are there.

You raise a valid point. Depending on the type of user, some of them can get discouraged by having to register to a website.

Even though we do not have any built-in features to address this specific process issue, I would like to offer some suggestions of avenues to explore:

    1. Perhaps you could include detailed and visual instructions on how to proceed in combination with a plugin to simplify the registration process (e.g.: simple registration forms, gravity forms user registration, Theme my login, etc..) ?
    2. In a personal project of mine I had a similar issue (motivating users to register to a website) where I made it fun by making a contest out of it (in other words people provided their information for both registration and contest purposes). That approach proved to be very successful while keeping the users in the front-end.

I have been reading up on the wp login registration process to see if there is a way to combine it so that they could register, fill in a password and be logged in – all in one step. If you could point me to a code snippet or plugin that would do this, that would be very helpful. If they click the “Login with Facebook” button on the login page, it seems to register them and log them in all at once with one, so I know this must be possible. When they use the Facebook button, it creates them as a user with their first and last name, email address and the first part of their email address as their user name.

Yes it is possible to achieve just that, although I would advise to include some kind of spambot verification plugin just to make sure you do not get flooded.

Here a list of links to explore:

The last link even provides you with a link to remove email verification.

Also, I have tried to create my own navigation menu rather than using the WordPress admin menu. I discovered that when I gave people access to the WordPress dashboard, they could click a button and wind up editing their event on a standard WordPress posting page instead of using the submission form in your program. If there were a way to disable that so that they would always stay on your program pages, I would have just used the WordPress menu instead of creating one of my own. I need to go back to make sure I was not logged in as an administrator when I was doing this test, but I am pretty sure I did it when I was logged in as a subscriber.

The good news is that you do not need to give people access to your backend at all. I personally use Theme my login on a lot of projects. You can even create role based navigation menus in the front-end.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great evening!

    Good afternoon Joel,

Thank you for getting back to me with more details.

I would be happy to guide you through the export procedure. However, at this point I am still unsure exactly what event plugin you are using.

The best way to figure that out is to go log in your website’s backend and look for the Plugins menu (on the left hand side).

Once you reach that page, look for your Events plugin. More specifically, look for the section that provides the plugin name, the version number, the author and sometimes a link that is titled Visit plugin website.

If you could provide me that information, that would be awesome and very helpful so that I can help you in return.

    Have a great day!

Good evening Andres and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
We’ll be glad to give you the requested status update.

The status is fairly straightforward. Currently, only the Core plugin has thorough integration with WPML.
For the most part, Pro works well with WPML as well, except when it comes down to recurring events.

This has been logged as a bug and is currently going through the release cycle. I cannot give you a date for now however.

So in short, the good news is that the 404 errors of 2014 are gone, thanks to some hand in hand work with the folks from WPML.

The Events Calendar’s goal is to complete integration with WPML for Pro and even Tickets Plus this year.
Hopefully sooner than later. So stay tuned!

I am not at liberty to disclose clients examples of the Calendar using WPML, but as a WPML user myself, I use the Events Calendar and WPML every single day and the integration is seamless.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Oh, I did forget something important.

The good news is that this has been identified as a legitimate bug.

Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date for a fix at this point. But you will be contacted as soon as there is one.

    Have a good week-end,

Good evening Ronald and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!

Thank you for your interest in our products and we’ll be glad to answer your question.

The short answer is yes. You can totally do that since Events are just like any other WordPress posts in many ways.

This means that you can make them private and even password protected out of the box.

Furthermore, if you want to have even more control over permissions and capabilities, you can do that using a plugin such as Members.

Finally, you could take this one step further and do template customizations to limit visibility of certain event categories to certain user roles.
That can be accomplished by reading our Themer’s guide.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Geoff B.
