Good evening Anthony and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the DTS offset issue you have been experiencing with recurring events.
I would love to help you with this topic.

Thank you for trying to deactivate all other plugins.
You are right, it could also be caused by a theme conflict, but there are other possible causes as well:

    • The server itself, as my colleague Brook pointed out
    • The timezone settings for your WordPress installation AND the Events Calendar
    • The settings above when the recurring events were created

To begin, here are the next steps I would suggest:

    1. Trying to see if the issue persists with a default WordPress theme such as Twenty-Fifteen
    2. Sending us a screenshot of both your WordPress and the Events Calendar timezone settings
    3. Running the piece of code my colleague Brook recommended: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11770730/date-default-timezone-setutc-not-working/20943645#20943645

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

Good evening Gary and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about this error message, especially if it’s displayed in the email sent to customers 🙁
I would love to help you with this topic.

First and foremost, we need to rule out any plugin, template or customization conflicts.

Could you also please go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

If you still get the message with only basic plugins and a default WordPress theme activated, then I suggest simply overwriting the /the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Main.php file with a fresh copy.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Good evening Tagawa,

Thank you for getting back to us.
I believe this is a simple misunderstanding.

You are looking at the folders located in the Events Calendar Pro plugin.

But, the files you need to modify are not in the Pro plugin, they are located in the basic free the Events Calendar plugin.

And yes, this will work with your Events Calendar Pro plugin.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Hey Marcel,

    My question is: what code?

    That’s a great question.
The code you need to add is at the bottom of the following page: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/change-the-wording-of-any-bit-of-text-or-string/

Of course you’ll first want to make sure you input “locatie” and “theater” in the right spots first 🙂

About the language files, you are right, you have quite a few of them. Let me help you clean it up a bit first.

    wp-content/languages/the-events-calender-nl_NL.po
    wp-content/languages/plugins/the-events-calender-nl_NL.po

These 2 look like duplicates. You can get rid of the one found in wp-content/languages/the-events-calender-nl_NL.po

    wp-content/plugins/events-calender-pro/lang/the-events-calender-pro-nl_NL.po
    wp-content/plugins/events-calender/lang/the-events-calender-nl_NL.po

These are the core ones found with the plugin. But, unfortunately, sometimes these are not 100% updated, even when packaged with the plugin.
What I would recommend is getting an updated version from Glotpress. Read all about it here: https://theeventscalendar.com/moving-to-glotpress/

So my recommended procedure would be:

    • Pick the latest versions of the last 2 from GlotPress
    • Modify them to your liking
    • Put them in wp-content/languages/plugins/
    • Remove the copies of the dutch translation found in wp-content/plugins/events-calendar/lang/ and in wp-content/plugins/events-calender-pro/lang/

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Bonsoir Antoine,

    Bon week-end,

    Geoff B.

    Hey,

You are in luck, Brian is absolutely one of our best tech and support guys 🙂

I will have to follow-up with him on Monday to see what he has in mind for resolution.

In the meantime, here are my best advice on things to do:

    1. After a backup, I would seriously consider making the switch to Event Tickets Plus (WooTickets is not known to behave well with the latest version of our plugins – in fact, it is officially no longer supported with the latest version of our plugins). Here is an article on how to proceed: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-to-event-tickets-plus/
    2. If you do get a chance to do a sneak test (2 seconds at a low web traffic time) of deactivating JetPack, that would make sure no stone is left unturned

    Have a good week-end,

    Geoff B.

Good evening Vivianne and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

If you want to a category dropdown IN the search bar, this is unfortunately not a built-in feature.
The only way you could achieve this would be through some customization, either by:

    1. Reading our Themer’s guide to get you started
    2. Hiring one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you

If on the other hand, you are looking for a simple, flexible and fast solution that also allows other event filtering, I would recommend taking a look at our Filter Bar add-on: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-events-filterbar/

    Have a good week-end,

    Geoff B.

I would love to help you with this topic.

As a first step, I would recommend the following reading:

In other words, there are no built functions to do exactly what you are looking for, but you can probably achieve it, through a bit of customization.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Good evening Tagawa and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about your struggles finding the files
I would love to help you with this topic.

The themer’s guide IS the tutorial 🙂
To set expectations, we do encourage customization, but we do not offer complete support for it.

    The process is very simple:

    1. Find the files
    2. Make a Copy of them and put the copy in your WordPress theme in a folder called tribe-events
    3. Edit the copied files with your added HTML

You will find the files you are looking for here: /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Good afternoon Marcel,

Thank you for the system information, for making a User Voice suggestion and for the answers to my questions.

But when I hit the page where all locations are, it was empty. That page is filled with the Pro-Widget that shows all events on a location. (its this one: http://www.theatercolleges.nl/theaters/)

At that point I realised that I had to translate all, including all sentences where the phrase location is, which is quite a lot. But I didn’t dare to, as I wasn’t sure if this would work out.

You are right, it can seem like a daunting task. But normally, you could limit the translation changes to the strings you are interested in and it should do the trick.

At least, as well as you are using the latest versions of the translation files. Read the following to have access to them: https://theeventscalendar.com/moving-to-glotpress/

There should be 2 language files to update. One for the Events Calendar and one for the Events Calendar Pro.

Normally, you do not need to implement these in your child theme. You just need to make sure they are either in your plugins language folder OR in wp-content/languages/plugins

Your suggestion about the snippet, like your collegue did, is a bit too difficult for me. But maybe you can point me in the right direction?

I understand that you might be reluctant. The good news is that it’s not as bad as it looks.

The only tools you will need are:

    1. An FTP client (e.g.: Filezilla)
    2. A text editor (e.g:Notepad)

What you need to do is to:

    • Log to your site via FTP
    • Navigate to public_html/wp-content/themes/your-theme-name
    • Find the functions.php file of your theme and open it via FTP
    • Add the code in and save the file on your server

If anything goes “wrong”, you can simply undo the change you just did to the functions.php file and re-save it

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

It is very odd indeed that the display should be that different.

    Good evening John,

I’m glad to hear the issue was actually limited to that specific instance.

I’m right there with you. The important part is that it’s an isolated incident 🙂

We are glad to help! After all, this is what we are here for !

Please come back any time you have questions or issues.
