    Good evening Bill,

    Thank you for writing back.
I am sorry to hear the content of the article was not helpful to you.

To answer your question, the displaying of the maps is not 100% within our control.
Up until June 22nd, no Google API key was required in most cases.

What ended up happening most of the time is that people were using their web host’s API key (not always knowingly).

There are still instances were that will work, but because of Google’s June 22nd changes of policy, things are now much more regulated: hence your issue.

So in short, I am not 100% sure why you are getting that error message, but what is clear is that Google is denying access for it on your install.
I would recommend asking the good folks at Google in parallel what you can do to regulate your API key.

In the meantime, I am also noticing that you are using a Google Map plugin as well.

I think it would be worth testing if that creates a conflict or not. A temporary simple deactivation would do the trick.

Finally, if that all fails, could you also please go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,

    Good evening Frank,

I’d love to answer your follow-up questions.

The solution, whichever one, from the 4 you implement, will it have any impact on all the attendee meta data already saved in the database at all?

There will be absolutely no impact on the attendee meta data already saved in the database.
What will change is how the data gets there. But everything else will stay the same.

Is there likely to be any issue with me updating attendee meta this way?

That’s a great question. Updating data directly in phpMyAdmin usually goes great.
There should not be any issue with data updated that way.

That being said, I would advise a database backup every time you do. Just in case.

When accessing the records via phpmyadmin I notice there are 2 entries for each set of attendee information provided. One corresponds with the order number and the next one has an order number incremented by one.

Is this what I should expect to encounter?

The best thing here would be a screenshot. But in all likelyhood one of these as a “published” status whereas the other should have a “inherit” status and is probably a revision.

I also came across a bit of code in another post which I can no longer find but I still have the link to the code. It was to allow attendee meta to be updated from admin, titled ET metahawk. Any ideas about this snippet/plugin?

I believe you are referring to: https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/0767b38ffcccfbf90817a542253de1d6

It’s an experimental snippet so once again, please backup before using. But some of our users are using it successfully instead of going the phpMyAdmin route.

    Best regards,

    Hey Bark,

That’s awesome. Thank you for your patience.
On the bright side, it looks like a per-widget toggle will make the cut after all! 🙂

We will absolutely contact you when it’s out.

    Cheers,
    Geoff B.

    Good evening Bart,

I am sorry this did not work out for you.
Upon reviewing the snippet, I wonder if it’s because of it’s latest revision (which was supposed to limit where the strings are replaced).

I just ran a test with a customized version of the snippet to change the word “Events” to “Bananas” and “Event” to “Banana” from an earlier revision of this snippet and it works great: https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/7cc7b891bcd6f9612d610ec295a30e4d

Can  you send me print screens of the places where that version of the snippet does not work for you ?

    Best regards,

    Good evening Peter,

I am afraid the attached screenshots got lost in cyberspace on their way to me 🙁

Would you mind trying again (perhaps with a Dropbox, Google Drive or Cloudup link) ?

    Good evening Shannon,

Thank you for writing back and for sharing your system information.

First of all, I’m mostly glad that you managed to get your site working again.

To your point, it seems like there is something with the latest update that is creating some kind of conflict with your install.
The good news is that the updates themselves have been thoroughly tested, which means we should be able to get them to work for you to.

I would like to offer to investigate this with you.

Could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?

Furthermore, do you by any chance have a staging / test website as well ?

You are also right about the matching versions. It is better to use them whenever possible.
The correct match is currently the Events Calendar 4.2.5 and the Events Calendar 4.2.4

The reason why there is a difference in subversion numbers is because the Events Calendar received one more maintenance release than Pro at this point.

Hang in there as we figure this one out!

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Good evening Michael,

    Thank you for writing back.
I am glad I managed to pinpoint what you are looking to do.

With that in mind, I believe my colleague Brian came up with the perfect snippet for you: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/hiding-events-list-by-default-in-pro-calendar-widget/#post-996057

I also fixed the page title as per your request.

Let me know how that goes.

    Good evening David,

Thank you for writing back and for sharing your code.
I shared that with the Dev wizard in charge of the ticket.

To clarify, yes the folks from Senseï came up with a fix around May. However, that specific fix was for the calendar views.
It unfortunately does not impact the widgets (as we later found out), hence the pending bug.

When we found that out, we immediately reached out to them. To make a long story short after some back and forth, we are making final adjustments to finally move this thing along.

Thank you for helping out as much as you did on this one.
    It’s truly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Bonjour Julye,

Good evening Karen and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

Ideally, I would need specific examples and your site’s URL to make personalized suggestions.

As a first step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

But, the general idea is to use the class of the body as a starting point in your CSS definitions.

    E.g.: .post-type-archive-tribe_events , .tribe-events-page-template, .single-tribe_events

Good evening Bart and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

There are a few ways to do this, but perhaps, the simplest one is to use the following Snippet: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/change-the-wording-of-any-bit-of-text-or-string/

You’ll simply need to add it to your theme’s functions.php

Let me know how that goes.

Good evening Lucie and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

I believe you are referring to additional attendee information.

If you haven’t already done so, I would recommend reading the following:

    1. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/collecting-attendee-information/
    2. https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/managing-your-orders-and-attendees/

To make a long story short, you can export that information from the Attendees list.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Good evening Tommy and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with these questions.

    1. I have an agency and would like to add tours to the calendar as one slim long box. Do anybody have an idea?

I would need a visual example of what you are trying to accomplish to be 100% certain.

But I am pretty sure you can do this using a template customization. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.

    2. I would also like to change the text seize in the calendar and frame it with a coloured box if possible. Any ideas on that?

That is totally possible with some CSS. I would need specific example of where you want your changes (ideally screenshots) to provide you a few examples.

In the meantime, you might want to checkout the following third-party plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-category-colors/

We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization.
