MemberGood evening Bart and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic. There are a few ways to do this, but perhaps, the simplest one is to use the following Snippet: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/change-the-wording-of-any-bit-of-text-or-string/
You’ll simply need to add it to your theme’s functions.php
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantNo, that didn’t work for me.

MemberGood evening Bart,
I am sorry this did not work out for you.
Upon reviewing the snippet, I wonder if it’s because of it’s latest revision (which was supposed to limit where the strings are replaced).I just ran a test with a customized version of the snippet to change the word “Events” to “Bananas” and “Event” to “Banana” from an earlier revision of this snippet and it works great: https://gist.github.com/GeoffEW/7cc7b891bcd6f9612d610ec295a30e4d
Can you send me print screens of the places where that version of the snippet does not work for you ?
Best regards,
Geoff B.

MemberGood evening Bart,
I believe I have found the cause of the issue.
You are only pasting the first couple of lines (up to line 11), but the snippet is 20 lines long.
Could you please try again with all the lines?
Let me know how that goes.
Have a good weekend,
Geoff B.

ParticipantThat ended up crashing the site. I had to replace with the original functions.php file to restore.

MemberGood evening Bart,
I am sorry to hear that the snippet crashed the site. That is both surprising and unintended.
But I am happy that you were able to revert back to the original functions.php file.
As a side note, it is usually recommended to use a FTP software tied to a text editor rather than using the built-in WordPress editor.
That way, if anything goes wrong, it is much easier to revert back to the previous version of any file.
At this point, I think the fastest way to solve this would be to get a copy of your WordPress Theme / Child Theme in a .zip file (via a Dropbox or Google Drive link).
That way we can incorporate the changes directly in the file and test them.
While you do that, would it be possible to tell us what word you would want to replace “event” with ?
Best regards,
Geoff B.
