Hi there, I have a problem when adding recurring events.

    Problem 01:

When adding a simple recurring event – lets say every week same weekday and time until a certain date – The Events calendar only show the first dated event and not the rest of recurring event dates. (Recurring event instances is checked off in General Settings as it should).

I have tried a LOT of things and finally I discovered that when deactivate the plugin WPML Multilingual CMS the rest of the recurring event dates showed up in list view and widgets.
AND after activating the WPML Multilingual CMS again the recurring events still remained visible and showed up.
So this is procedure is what I have to do every time I add a recurring event.

    Problem 02:
When adding a recurring event there is a link that says “Recurring event (View all)” When I click the link all the dates for this event should be visible in list view – but this does not happen. When clicking on View all-link I end up on the first event date page. And the View all link is still there).
When I deactivate the WPML Multilingual CMS though the link works as expected, and takes me to list view of all the dates of that event.
Sadly, when i activate the plugin again the problem comes back – so the deactivating and activating trick does not solve problem 02 like it does on the first problem above.

So – there seem to be an obvious conflict between the WPML Multilingual CMS and The Events Calendar in this case.

I really hope that you can help me out with this!
    Thank you

Good evening Johan and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about your struggles with recurring events and WPML.
I would love to help you with this topic.

You are 100% right, there is a conflict between recurring events and the way WPML handles things.
In fact, it has long been the only feature we could not support with WPML.

The good news is that we have spent a lot of time working with the WPML Dev team over the summer and I am glad to report we have a working solution on our test servers. It’s release is still pending an update from the WPML plugins, but it should be out in the upcoming month or so if all goes well.

In the meantime, there is a manual workaround for this. It’s not perfect and, as pointed out, it’s manual.
If you are up for it, you’ll need to:

    1. Make sure you can do a DB backup (and revert back to it in case of issues)
    2. Be comfortable with basic phpMyAdmin usage

Here’s the breakdown of how that works: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/wpml-recurring-events-3/#post-1142644

We are sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime and hang tight as we work on releasing that fix!

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

Hi there Geoff, that is great news for all of us using recurring event a lot and also needs WPML on the site. I will use the workarounds until the fix release. Is there a way to “subscribe” to this fix? Meaning is there a way to get notice as soon the fix is available?

    All the best.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
