ParticipantAs mentioned in my previous post – see: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/tec-pro-no-widget-events-found-in-google-structured-data-testing-tool-2/ – I was very disappointed that the events did not show up in Google as snippets when using the TEC Pro widgets as version 4.0.
Leah mentioned on May, 26th 2016 (see link above) that the issue should be resolved as of release 4.2. Well, I updated my TEC Pro from 3.12.6 version to 4.2.3 to no avail. The Google Structure Testing Tool cannot find any hcalender snippets in the script. And I also did not see them in Google myself. Apparently not fixed yet?
So I was hoping for an update on the TEC Pro calendar widgets when then should be able show events below my search results in Google again.

MemberGood evening Bark and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Yikes, this is not good!As far as I can tell, the extra JSON-LD support should have indeed been added in with the release of 4.2.
However some additional research revealed that adding that support in widgets was not included in that release. The good news is that the programming for it has been completed and it’s currently pending smoke testing.
So in short, it should be out pretty soon!I have added a follow-up note to this thread so that you are contacted when it’s out.
Thank you for your patience as we put the final touches on this.
Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Well that sounds like a plan 🙂 Does that mean the JSON script will be included in the widgets by default? As the reason why it has been taken out was that a lot of people have been complaing about the visible events snippets in Google. At least, that is what your colleague told me half a year ago.
I am looking forward hearing from and notified by you!

MemberGood evening Bark,
Does that mean the JSON script will be included in the widgets by default?
That is a great question and thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I checked with the developper and here’s his answer.
No, this does not have an option toggle at the present time.
From what I’ve understood the JSON LD information enriches what’s on the page adding information to it, not covering it.That being said, we are totally looking at adding that toggle in there after that was brought up.
The other “good news” is that apparently Google is no longer as sensitive as it used to be to that extra information.Best regards,
Geoff B.

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks for your reply. I will just wait patiently and see what happens. I am covered now by the old TEC Pro 3.12.6, so in essence I am doing good 🙂
Just let me know when the version with JSON LD support is released, I would appreciate that.
Thanks for everything!

MemberHey Bark,
That’s awesome. Thank you for your patience.
On the bright side, it looks like a per-widget toggle will make the cut after all! 🙂We will absolutely contact you when it’s out.
Cheers,

ParticipantI wished I had known about this prior to purchasing a license and updating from version 3 to 4. Is there any ETA as to when this will be addressed and fixed?
Thanks

MemberGood evening @mathamatix,
Thank you for chiming in.
The answer to that question is that release is imminent since it only has to go through smoketesting at this point.
If all goes well, it should make it in our next maintenance release (which happens every 2 weeks give or take).
Keep an eye out for the next maintenance release!
Cheers,
Geoff B.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!

MemberHey folks,
Just a heads up that we were able to release a fix for this in The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO 4.3.1.1. Please update when you have the chance and definitely let us know if you continue to bump into the same issue after updating.
Thanks so much for reporting this so we could work on it!
Cheers,
