Bark
ParticipantHi there,
This time I am the one that has not been following up my initial post, shame on me 🙂
This is what I posted before: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/tec-pro-no-widget-events-found-in-google-structured-data-testing-tool/#post-1063582
I tried to copy the copy the TEC Pro 3.12.6 list-widget.php file first to the custom Tribe Events folder in my child theme, which did not work.
After that, I copied the file to the original folder of the TEC Pro 4.0.X plugin –> /plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/views/pro/widgets, which also did not work. Google’s testing tool keeps reading only three empty hcard’s:
hcard 1
fn: Alicante, Spanje
org [org]:
organization-name: Alicante, SpanjeAny simple ideas? Otherwise I am going to stick with 3.12.6, that just worked perfect for me!
Best regards,

<div class=”wiki”>Hi Bark. In v4.0, we switched from microformat HTML markup to JSON-LD.
In v4.0+, JSON-LD was implemented for Event Single pages but not other views (e.g. the main Events archive view or the Event widgets).
Multiple users have requested JSON-LD be implemented for views with multiple events, primarily the Events List widget.
I believe you already got all that info from your previous forum thread (which you linked to).
</div>
As far as getting that functionality back, just putting v3.12.6’s /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/widgets/list-widget.php in v4.0’s place won’t do the trick. The microformat HTML markup and JSON-LD code isn’t in that file. Therefore, continuing to use 3.12.6 for now would be much easier to do if you require this functionality.
To answer your question regarding security, there were a couple recent fixes for the core plugin. It’ll be your choice to balance security concerns with desired functionality.
I hope this clarifies things for you. 🙂

ParticipantHi Cliff,
I am following your line of reasoning, thanks.
I would be awesome if you would leave a message when a tutorial to implement rich snippets for widgets is ready.
Thanks.

MemberThanks for your understanding, Bark.
I’m sure it’ll be mentioned in our updates if/when it gets implemented.
Have a great one!

MemberHello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. We weren’t able to get a fix for it into our upcoming release (4.1). However, please know that the problem is still on our radar and is ticketed within our system to be addressed in a future maintenance release. We’ll do our best to keep you posted when we are able to get a solution in place. Thank you for your patience while we improve and expand our plugins.

MemberHello!
I’m happy to report that we have been working on this feature for our upcoming 4.2 release. The new features for each of our plugins are currently being tested by our QA team and by our beta testers. Soon we’ll be putting the finishing touches on the code and then shipping the new versions out to our lovely customers.
Thank you for your patience while we worked on this. We appreciate your support! Keep an eye out for version 4.2 coming your way in the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Leah
