ParticipantHi,
I recently updated TEC Pro to version 4.0.5 (coming from 3.XX). The main reason why I purchased TEC Pro is the event widget that I placed in the footer of my website. By doing that, I got 3 event links under each search result in Google.
However, since the update to 4.0.5, I saw that my favorite pages lost their event links. So I just checked in the Google structured data testing tool and it seems that it cannot find any events anymore.
– Please check with this page: http://www.spiritueleverlichting.nl/blog/het-ego-weerstand/het-ego-wat-is-dat/ (no events found)
– Main events overview page: http://www.spiritueleverlichting.nl/agenda/ (no events found)
– Individual event page: http://www.spiritueleverlichting.nl/evenement/workshop-zelfonderzoek-in-de-praktijk-antwerpen/2016-02-06/ (1 event found, but the widget events are not seen by Google)
It looks like the hcalendar script does not work anymore? Any solutions? Because this is a bummer 🙁
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,

MemberGood evening Bark and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear about the change in structured data behaviour. We will gladly try to assist you on this topic.
As a first step, I would recommend reading my colleague Brook’s awesome post on this topic. With some luck, that should do the trick.
In case it doesn’t, could you please <u>provide us with your system information</u> in a private reply ?
I would also need to know if you made any template customization ?
Have a great day!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Well, the post you are referring to is actually not a solution as in that case there are events found in the Google Testing tool, though not with individual URLS.
In my case, at this moment, I do not find any hcalender or events at all. So tweaking the file will not help.
However, I have a very extensive theme called Jupiter and since I updated the theme from V4 to V5 I am have several conflicts on my website so I decided in my sleep last night to reinstall a backup again 🙂
Which also means I will go back to TEC Pro version 3.X. I experience now that updates not always mean progress but also can be time consuming.
Are there any security issues with TEC Pro 3.X that I should now about?
Thanks

MemberGood evening Bark,
First of all, let me apologize for the initial misunderstanding.
On the plus side, that led me to investigate the issue thoroughly. It turns out you were absolutely right.
Unfortunately, we removed the structured data from the widget for 4.0 due to reports about it showing up on everyones google search results.
That being said, you can totally add it back if you want to.
In fact, the idea of creating a tutorial to add it back has been submitted. I cannot commit to a specific date yet however.
Is there anything else I can help you with ?
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.

MemberHi again,
In the meantime, if you want to give it a try, I would recommend downloading version 3.12.6 from WordPress.org and looking at the code found in /plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/widgets.
Although we don’t officially support it, you should be able to steal the code from that version pretty easily 🙂

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks, and with regard to the PRO version, just browse to /plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/views/pro/widgets and copy list-widget.php to the 4.X version folder? Is that all?
I only make use of the event list widget.
Thanks in advance,
Best,

MemberHi Bark,
Sorry for the delay answering back, the “Pending fix” status kept your question off my radar, my bad. We are considering adding the code back as an option or making a tutorial out of this as you know, hence the status.
To answer your question, that’s pretty much it. Let me know how that works for you.
Have a great day!

MemberHello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. We weren’t able to get a fix for it into our upcoming release (4.1). However, please know that the problem is still on our radar and is ticketed within our system to be addressed in a future maintenance release. We’ll do our best to keep you posted when we are able to get a solution in place. Thank you for your patience while we improve and expand our plugins.

MemberHello!
I’m happy to report that we have been working on this feature for our upcoming 4.2 release. The new features for each of our plugins are currently being tested by our QA team and by our beta testers. Soon we’ll be putting the finishing touches on the code and then shipping the new versions out to our lovely customers.
Thank you for your patience while we worked on this. We appreciate your support! Keep an eye out for version 4.2 coming your way in the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Leah
