    Hey Lesli,

There are unfortunately two dimensions to this problem that are outside the scope of our customer support:

    1. Customizations – you mention having made some customizations to the plugin, which is fine to do, but depending on what you did, these could lead to functionality issues for sure. We can’t quite debug them ourselves or offer code-level support for customizations.

    2. The Theme itself – we don’t offer support for third-party software, so we’re not able to dive into the theme code directly or offer much advice on how to fix problems with the theme.

Now, with all that being said, is there any way you could link directly to the event in the “Sandbox” that you took a screenshot of? I’ll take a closer look at it if you can share the link, there may be some valuable information I can glean from seeing it firsthand.

Finally, for now, one thing you can try is to see if any errors pop up on your site if you head to your site’s wp-config.php file and change this line of code:

    define('WP_DEBUG', false);

    to this:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

Once you make that change, head back to the event that you shared a screenshot of. See if any PHP errors display on the page, and if so, let us know what they are!

Thanks Lesli – I really hope that points 1 and 2 that I wrote above don’t discourage you from seeking help from us! I’m glad to help here and will do what I can to help troubleshoot this issue. I just wanted to set expectations early and underscore the fact that contacting your theme developer is the best course of action here – which you have already done, of course.

Let us know what you find with the steps I wrote above, and we’ll keep working on this from there.

    Thank you!

    Hey Lisianne and Carla,

I’m very sorry you’re having trouble with this issue. There are a few different things worth touching on here:

    1. First of all, thank you for your patience as we investigate this issue. You mention having already opened another thread and such, so I’m sorry that this has taken a bit of time to work through! It is indeed an odd issue and your patience means a lot 🙂

    2. After importing that problematic “All Day Event”, even though its end date is imported incorrectly, are you able to adjust the end date manually in the backend edit screen for that event and then save the event? This should set the end date to what you want, and should not change thereafter – I only mention this because if you are able to do this, then while not ideal you can at least have this option so that your events are usable in the meantime while we investigate these issues. Just an idea, I hope you’re able to manually adjust the end dates and therefore can use the events on your site after you import them.

    3. I appreciate you sharing the ICS record here – however, it is not a complete .ics file. Perhaps you spared us the whole .ics file because of its length or something, but would you be able to upload the entire .ics file to something like Dropbox or http://ge.tt and then share a link to that download? We’ll download the full file and test it out.

    4. Finally, for now, can you clarify each of these details:
    a) What version of The Events Calendar is active on your site?
    b) What version of the iCal Importer is active on your site?
    c) What version of WordPress is your site running?

    Thank you Lisianne and Carla!

Thanks @Keira! I know it’s not ideal, but hopefully will work until we get things fixed and improved.

I’ll close up this thread for now with these things in mind – if you have any other questions or concerns, however, don’t hesitate to come back and open a new thread any time!

    Cheers,

Thank you for testing plugins @sunonet – can you proceed with the rest of the steps in that article? So, after you deactivate all other plugins again, can you then also activate a default theme like Twenty Twelve or something?

See how things behave in this theme and let us know what you find – I’m sorry to ask this of you but am just not able to recreate these issues myself and am hoping that the theme test will reveal something useful here.

    Thank you!

    Hey Michelle,

Your custom code might work fine, but instead of calling get_posts() directly, why not use tribe_get_events()? It’s an alias for get_posts() anyways, but adds some additional features specifically geared toward filtering by date.

Check out this Knowledgebase article for examples → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-tribe_get_events/

You should be able to leave pretty much all that code alone and just swap out get_posts() and some of your arguments for it with tribe_get_events() and some arguments specific to it as shown in that article.

Let us know if this helps!

    Hey Cliffy,

Thank you for your continued patience this. Just to be 100% certain, when you write this:

(I have ticked the “Show only the first instance of each recurring event (only affects list-style views)” option to not show recurring events) for now.

Do you mean checking that option HAS worked for you thus far, and DOES help ensure that the Photo View doesn’t display all the instances of a recurring event?

Just want to be certain I understand the state of things – thank you for your patience with these sort of “clarification” questions, I know they can be tedious but want to be as certain as possible that I’m addressing the right issues.

As for providing information to the theme developer, Kriesi is a long-standing theme author who, from what I hear, has pretty decent support, so you might be fine by simply explaining how that checkbox normally shows fine and is clickable and such, but when their theme is active, it’s not clickable.

I didn’t find a specific JavaScript error or something like that to send along, which I’m sorry about, but hopefully they can take that information from there and test things out on their own to see what’s going on.

    Thank you!

    Hey @Richard,

What specific version numbers are you running, and what version of WordPress are you running? I hate to pester for what might seem like unimportant details, but I still cannot recreate these issues on my own site so every detail matters here as we try to find a bug.

Also, if you have not done so yet can you try the troubleshooting steps outlined here? → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

    Thank you,

    Hey @corrado,

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with some of these things. I would like to highlight two things you said.

    First, this:

I checked google-map.php and I’m relly confused…. for sure not self explanatory.

    And then this:

Not an hard task I think.

If you are unable to make sense of any of the code, how are you able to determine that this is “not a hard task”? Because in my opinion, the customizations you are trying to make are a bit of a “hard task” – which is precisely what makes them too complicated for us to help with here on the forums.

I’m sorry if that’s frustrating, but do not have more specific code advice to help with.

Barry and I have both fielded your other support requests here and have logged the bugs you reported, and we’re working hard on fixing them.

If you’re too profoundly disappointed here, I’m genuinely sorry to hear that, but would like you to know that we’re happy to refund your purchase. If you’ve made your purchase within the last 30 days, forward copies of your email receipts to [email protected] and we will issue a refund in full.

George regarding the Zapier which is a syncing plugin between woo commerce and Active Campaign

Thank you for that additional information @Rochelle!

And thank you even more for all of the kind words you said – please do keep us posted on things, it is true that we may not be able to help much for third-party things but we’re happy to at least try as much as we can and to field any other questions that might arise in the meantime.

    Keep us posted!

That is weird indeed. Unfortunately, those “Testing for Conflicts” steps are still the best I can think of – behavior of plugins and themes can change quite a bit as other specific details of an environment change too, and I get a JavaScript error directly from that plugin on your production site.

    Weird indeed!

Please let me know if you can proceed with the Testing for Conflicts steps I shared above, or if you have any other questions here.

    Thanks Carl!

Glad to hear it Michiel! And you’re on to something when you suggest having a central place to list all these code snippets – we’re working on something super-secret just like this, I’m actually going to be launching it in a few weeks or so! Stay tuned!

    Thanks for the update Mike!

I’m glad you were able to do a better job of coding the template than me – so perhaps take my admonishing of that theme with a grain of salt then! 😉

But for the gist of why I mentioned it being “poorly coded”, for the most part I can see how it would work well for you and you certainly don’t need to replace all your dozens of sites overnight just because of my one opinion. However, there are some performance holes apparent in the theme:

    • a litany of dozens, perhaps more than a hundred even, it seemed, of get_post_meta() calls when just one would do.
    • poorly structured data
    • too much reliance on things in a global scope and just downright overly-complicated, fragile code. for one minor example, take a look at the barely-readable complexity used in this template file just to generate a page title!https://gist.github.com/ggwicz/e7750ec01ba93743d333

Nothing is perfect, and if it works for you then it works for you! No snark or anything intended. Just some observations after diving into the code to help here.

I appreciate your patience with the issue and your willingness to dive into the code yourself. Surely both traits will bode well for the future of this site and others – best of luck with all of them!

Thanks for the update @gonzalosanza – unfortunately, this doesn’t change what you mentioned earlier about the plugin working in the Twenty Twelve theme, and seems to indicate that neither your child theme nor the customizations are the source of the problems but the parent theme itself is.

If that parent theme has a support resource, definitely try contacting them and see if they have some insight they can share here.

I’m sorry that we can’t dive into your theme code, @gonzalosanza, but please let me know if there’s anything else we can do here or if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns.

    Thanks!

    Hey Emre,

Thanks for elaborating a bit here! If you create a 7-day event, you can indeed use Events Calendar Pro’s “Recurring Events” feature to then repeat this 7-day event every month, or with another recurring pattern. You should not need to write any custom code for this.

To see some examples and learn a bit more about how, exactly, this would work, definitely check out this article if you haven’t already → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-recurring-events/

As for mapping a tour – if you have several different events, the can all have their own location on a map. But if you have one 7-day event, then it will only let you have one venue. There isn’t additional functionality to add checkpoints of the tour or anything like that, and you could not build a sort of trail of events on a map without custom code beyond the scope of the forums.

    I hope this information helps!

    Hey @Johnkobe,

Thanks for the update! I’m glad you found the culprit here.

Adding a check like you mentioned for large sets of recurring events is something that could definitely make its way into a future version of the plugin – I can’t have any promises at this time, unfortunately, but we indeed want to help mitigate the problems that could arise from auto-generated series of events in the hundreds or thousands!

    Cheers,
    George
