MemberHi again Joanna,
OK, thank you for that.
I did some testing there and you are right, this is really not working smoothly.I am also noticing that you have some template customizations going on that might be in need of updating or simply interfering.
As a next step, if you don’t mind, could you please send me a copy of your WordPress theme / child theme in a .zip file link (via Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ?
Thank you for the invitation to login. We only do that as a very last resort and under specific conditions.
For the time being, I believe the theme and child theme will be sufficient 🙂Best regards,

MemberHello Joanna,
Thank you for your answers and for turning the views back on for testing.
When you get a chance, could you please post your latest system information as requested previously.
I realize this can be cumbersome for our customers, but this is really helpful in pinpointing the cause of issues 🙂In saying that what I had found in testing was that when we had the “list” view on, it was matching events in May (not just events with the reoccurrence that would cross over from May to June).
Actually, this is the exact same issue you are having the list view. The way most of your events are set up currently, they are at least several weeks long (if not more).
For example, from the calendar’s point of view, a specific event such as http://calendar.childmags.com.au/event/ballarat-wildlife-park/2016-05-03/ starts on May 3rd (which is great) and ends on June 1st. This single event lasts 29 days from the calendar’s point of view.
I am not sure if this was set up that way intentionally (but I don’t think it was), but when you launch a search in any view, let’s say on May 30th for example, that event will show up even though it’s “in the past”, simply because it’s not over (based on the way it was set up).
In other words, for search to work properly on every view, it looks like you might need to revisit the edit Event screen of each event to set it up in a way that looks more like this.

The issue is not so much the recurrence rules as the start and end time of the events.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

MemberGood afternoon Scott,
Thank you for your answer and for the system info.
Before we continue, I am noticing that you are still using PHP 5.3.x on your server. You might want to consider upgrading this to at least 5.4.x + ( WordPress actually recommends 5.6.x +), as I have seen some pretty odd behaviours stemming from PHP 5.3.x
You are right, what that checkbox does is to include events not in a static home page, but it includes events in the blog loop which would have been a great starting point. My bad.
What you are looking to do is certainly feasible. The closest thing we have to that right now would be to use our advanced list widget or one of our PRO shortcodes: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-widget-shortcodes/
That being said, you will most likely need to customize these. You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.
This should allow you to add or remove information in the list widget until it’s just right for you.Just to set expectations, as you might know, the scope of our support is mostly to get our customers started on the right track and to help them in case of issues. We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

MemberGood evening Stefan and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us and for providing your system information.
We are sorry to hear about the issues you are facing with WPML and 404 errors.
I would love to help you with this topic. The good news is that it turns out that I am part of the WPML compatibility team.
So, as you can imagine, I am very interested in finding out the cause of your issues. As a disclaimer, before we begin, we are currently working at making WPML integration even better.
Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. But stay tuned! That being said, provided a few limitations, we should be able to get you up and running.
As a first troubleshooting step, can you confirm that:
- You have read the following post and configured things accordingly: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-the-events-calendar-with-wpml/ ?
- If the issues persists when you switch to the ?lang= method instead of the directory based one in WPML ?

MemberGood evening Sumaiya and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us and for providing us with very helpful insight.
We are sorry to hear about the time of events disappearing on you after the update
I would love to help you with this topic. As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Secondly, could you please provide me with a screenshot of your exact event settings (tickets and all). In other words, the content of your Edit Event screen. The reason for this is that I am trying to replicate the issue, but I am not able to do that on my end yet.
Best regards,

MemberGood evening Christian,
Thank you for all the system info of all the different installs you are using.
It is really appreciated and hopefully will help us find what’s going on.These are fairly different environments on many counts (PHP version, plugins, themes).
The commonality between them seems to be WordPress 4.3.1 (which is a few versions behind). I am wondering if that has anything to do with it ?On your first install:
- This might seem unrelated, but whenever you get a chance, I would recommend trying to update to at least PHP 5.4 (WordPress actually recommends 5.6+), because I have seen some odd behaviour with PHP 5.3.x
- Officially, we do not yet support ET+ with WPML, but we are working on it. Kudos for making that work on your end.
- Upon my exchanges with one of the other clients that is using Avada, I successfully managed to get the snippet to work with 4.1.4 with the same theme and child-theme. At first he was not able to make this work for him, but upon making a fresh copy, it did work for him. My best working theory for now is that to get the snippets to work, you might need to deactivate and reactivate the Event Tickets plugins.
On your second install:
- This would be the perfect candidate to test my best working theory.
- Additionally, after a backup and if you don’t mind, you might want to try updating WordPress to at least 4.4.2 + to see if that changes anything
Let me know how that goes so that I can report this to our Dev team.
Best regards and thanks once again,
Geoff B.June 8, 2016 at 6:57 pm in reply to: HELP. Why is it not easy to get the tickets for an event? #1124242Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Derek and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.First off, if you don’t mind, in the future please post such a question in our Events Calendar Pro or Event Tickets Plus forums.
This forum is mostly reserved to pre-sales questions.Secondly, just to set expectations, as you might know, the scope of our support is mostly to get our customers started on the right track and to help them in case of issues. We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization, which is obviously what you are doing here.
With that in mind, my best recommended reading to get started our Themer’s guide.
This should allow you to get a sense of which file to look at to see how ET+ is “calling” the tickets and yes, it involves using WooCommerce’s methods among other things. As an alternative, if you are still at a loss, you might want to consider to hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.
Best regards,

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with these questions.my German events calendar Pro list widget shows “Es gibt derzeit keine bevorstehenden veranstaltungen.” (there are no upcoming events at this time). Veranstaltungen needs a capital V. In the po file its %s. Any suggestions?
There are a couple of ways you could go about this:
- Override the string completely in a customized po/mo file . In other words replace the %s by the full capitalized word. This will give you a fuzzy warning, but you can accept the translation regardless. Furthermore, if you are using 4.2, you will be able to store those language files in /wp-content/languages to prevent them from being overwritten by updates
- Use the following snippet to replace the string: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/change-the-wording-of-any-bit-of-text-or-string/
On the event page “venue name” and “address” are not being translated to German although there are translations in the po file.
I suspect this is because your po/mo files might need to be updated (as is most likely the case after each plugin version update) to include changes in translation strings. You can update from:
- The plugin’s files as a source
- An updated version of the pot file
By the way, the latest versions of our language files are not always packaged with the plugin. But, you can find them here: http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects
If that doesn’t work for you, would you mind sending me a copy of your language files ?
How can I hide the event category on the event page? I need the category to filter my events but i do not want the category to show.
The best way to do that is by doing a customized version of the single event view, more specifically the meta part.
You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.Let me know if you need help getting started with that.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
June 8, 2016 at 3:29 pm in reply to: With WPML, links redirect to first event in series (part 2) #1124207Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Saulo and welcome back!
I deactivated and reactivated WPML. I see there are about 40 rows at the end of the icl_translations table with “post_tribe_events” in the element_type column, so I am assuming these are the ones you were expecting to be generated.
Yes, this is where the elements should be created.
However, if you pay careful attention, you should notice that there are 2 columns in there: language code and source language code.If you want to get a sense of how that should work, you could simply create a dummy regular post in your WPML default language (which I assume is french) and then proceed to create a translation for it. When that’s done, take a look at each of these entries in the icl_translations to see how they are setup for the language code and source language code fields.
Finally, if you haven’t done so already, you need to make sure your WPML setup matches and translation procedure matches the following:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/creating-translations-for-events-using-wpml/
As a side note, please also know that only the ?lang= URL method is truly supported at this point.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

June 8, 2016 at 3:18 pm in reply to: Polylang translation (pt-BR) not working since update to 4.2 #1124204Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Carlos and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the translations breaking after the update.
I would love to help you with this topic. Before we begin, just to set expectations, we actually do not support Polylang as multi-language site with our plugins.
That being said, some of our users have achieved some level of success with it (such as yourself). For multi-language site, we are already compatible with WPML for the Events Calendar free and the Events Calendar PRO. We are also working hard at increasing that compatibility for all of our products this year.
Back to your specific issue, understanding we do not support Polylang, I think you might need to refresh the strings you are trying to translate (since there were changes). If you need to, you can find, the latest version of our strings here: http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects
Another possible reason, if your custom translations were found in the /lang/ folder of our plugins, is that they were overwritten by the update.
The good news is that with 4.2 you can now prevent this from happening by storing your custom language files in your /wp-content/languages/ folderI wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

MemberGood evening Oscar,
Thank you for the screenshot.
Before we begin, on a related note, I have found that recurring events tend to work better when using a city related timezone (e.g.: Barcelona) instead of UTC 0. If you are still having issues after my workaround, I would try changing that.
Cause of the issue:
The parent post of the recurring events though and it’s translated counterpart, are registered properly in that table icl_translations DB table (as a normal post would), along with their language_code. That database table is what WPML uses to map out what post is in what language.
When the recurring event posts are created in both languages, they are not sent to the icl_translations DB table (as a normal post would).
As such, they don’t get assigned a language_code, which in turn means that they do not get returned for display because, according to the table WPML uses, they “don’t exist”.
Solution:
Deactivating and reactivating the WPML plugin forces an entry in the icl_translations DB table FOR EACH post found in the wp_posts table.
EACH entry created that way gets the default language assigned as its language_code.As an alternative, you could accomplish similar results with the WPML debug page (look for the button to assign a language to each post)
You will now need to use phpMyAdmin and look at icl_translations DB table FOR EACH recurring event post and make sure the correct language code is assigned.
I realize this is not great, but it does work in the meantime.

Geoff B.
