MemberGood evening Mike and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.1) Am I right in saying we will need The Events Calendar plugin first? Might that replace our current Event Espresso 3 plugin? What advantages would there be in using TEC over EE3?
Actually, no. Event Tickets Plus can work standalone or alongside the Events Calendar.
I am unsure has to wether or not you could replace what you are doing with Event Espresso without having a list of what your requirements are. But, what I can tell you is that we have a large diversity of satisfied customers running our products for all sorts of professional purposes.
In the end, it comes down to personal preference of workflow. As you pointed out, integration to third-party e-commerce platforms such as WooCommerce or, in the case of our EventBrite Tickets add-on, perfect sync with EventBrite while keeping the calendar functionality.
2) If we wanted to set up TEC and Tickets Plus on our eCommerce site (store.20schemes.com), can we add the ticket as another ‘Product’ through WooCommerce? So that aesthetically it looks the same as everything else?
In reality, combined with WooCommerce, Event Tickets Plus actually creates a WooCommerce virtual product of the “ticket” type. So aesthetically, it will look the same.
If you wanted to, with a simple snippet, you could even direct your customers to the product page as opposed to staying on the event’s page for ticket sales.
3) Am I right in saying once you’ve paid for the plugin(s) there’s no ongoing ‘per ticket’ fee like EE and EB. Just the fee that comes through our payment gateway (Stripe).
You are right, there is no “per ticket” fee associated with using Event Tickets Plus coming from our end, simply any fee you would encounter while purchasing any normal WooCommerce product.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

MemberGood evening Steve and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the breaking words.
I would love to help you with this topic. What is going on is that that specific WordPress theme has a CSS break-word rule for title tags.
Firefox just renders it accordingly (and differently than other browsers). You might want to try the following CSS rule to fix that:
h3.tribe-events-month-event-title a {word-wrap: normal !important}Let me know how that goes.

MemberGood evening Jonathan and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to answer your questions.
I’m assuming that as I enter events they will automatically be published to EventBrite.
Yes, provided you have gone through the installation process correctly and connected to your EventBrite account: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/new-user-primer-eventbrite-tickets/
Q. Can I do this on the site I’m developing, or should I install the plugins on the live site (deinstalling them from the development site) which has the correct URL? – and then, when the site goes live, deinstall them from the old site and reinstall them on the new one?
This is a great question. You can totally run some tests while on the development server, but I would advise against creating all of your “real” tickets there. And, as you suggested, prior to migration, I would wipe the test tickets from your dev server.
There are a couple of reasons for that, but one of them is that Eventbrite does store some hardcode URL information in the process of the ticket sync.
As a result, the usual WordPress live migration techniques alone will not work properly for that specific aspect.
Q. I’m assuming that I have everything I need with these two plugins to sell tickets – or do I also need to purchase EventBrite tickets?
The answer is yes, that’s all you need. Although the Events Calendar Pro is actually not required for that specific purpose (but will work wonderfully nevertheless).
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

MemberHey Hans-Gerd,
Thank you for the additional feedback.
It might very well be a theme customization that’s causing this specifically on the day view then.
There are 2 quick tests you could run to see if that is the case:- Temporarily renaming the /tribe-events/ folder to something like /z_tribe-events/ in you WordPress theme and/or child theme and running the search again.
- Temporarily switching back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-fifteen and running the search again.
As for your other question, most of the customers I have talked to really enjoy the third-party https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-tec-event/ plugin.
I recommend giving it a shot.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
Geoff B.Geoff B.
MemberHey Trey,
Thank you for that.
Just as I thought, the issue is with the customizations done for your theme and child theme. They need updating to work properly.
Just to set expectations, as you might know, the scope of our support is mostly to get our customers started on the right track and to help them in case of issues. We unfortunately do not provide complete support for customization.
Short term, everything will work as it is supposed to if you rename the wootickets folder to z_wootickets as follows:
- /wp-content/themes/function-child/tribe-events/z_wootickets
- /wp-content/themes/function/tribe-events/z_wootickets
Let me know how that goes.

MemberGood afternoon Taike,
Thank you for all of your answers, it helps a lot.
I’m sorry that none of the suggestions solved the issue. The most important thing that you mentioned is that even when setting the order status to Complete manually, the tickets are not sent. With that in mind, we need to fix that first before looking at plugins and other automated solutions.
Based on what we have shared so far, there could be a couple of things causing this:
- Did you use the following guide when migrating to Event Tickets Plus: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-to-event-tickets-plus/ ?
- There could be a customization in either the functions.php or in the /tribe-events/ folder of your WordPress template that requires updating. The quickest way to test this is to temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-fifteen.
- There could be a conflict with another plugin. In which case, could you go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out. Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
Thank you for your patience as we are trying to identify the issue.
Best regards,
Geoff B.

MemberHey Riccardo,
Sorry about that.
This snippet should go in your WordPress theme’s functions.php .
If you are unfamiliar with how that works, you might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of the many customizations you can do, including changes to the functions.php file.Let me know how that goes.

MemberHey James,
I am sorry to hear that the snippet did not work for you.
I’ll be glad to help you with the translation method. Here’s a breakdown of how that works:
- Do a quick Google search with the string “how to use poedit”. There is a good number of excellent tutorials on the subject and it is actually not complicated to use once you get the basics down.
- Download the free Poedit software: https://poedit.net/
- Go to our translations project page: http://translations.theeventscalendar.com/projects
- Select the Events Calendar project.
- Click on “English – Canada”
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on “Export” – this will download the translation files
- Rename the downloaded files to the-events-calendar-en_US.po and the-events-calendar-en_US.mo
- Open the .po file using Poedit, search for your strings and change the “translation” to your liking
- Save the file
- Upload that file back on your server
If that does not work for you, I might have another solution, but it will involve getting a complete .zip file of your WordPress theme / child theme.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,
Geoff B.Geoff B.
MemberGood afternoon Abigail,
Thank you for your answer, for sharing your system information and for letting us know that support is not meeting your expectations.
I totally understand where you are coming from. This type of issue can be quite frustrating.
Unfortunately, our policy does not allow us to log in to clients websites for several reasons, including liability.
Please know that I actually share the same goal as you: fix the issue in the least amount of time possible.
Since there is such a wide-range of issues and WordPress installs out there, this is typically best accomplished by a team effort between ourselves and our awesome customers. If any given point you are not confortable with a request in that collaborative effort, it is totally OK. We will then try to find another way.
In that context, my suggestion of having a local install was only offered as a solution to workaround the fact that you cannot run the testing for conflicts procedure on your live site and that I do not believe you have a testing / staging environment.
If you are curious, you can read all about what our support entails here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/what-support-is-provided-for-license-holders/
With that in mind, based on your system information, I believe I have found the reason why you are no longer able to edit your WooCommerce tickets.
In order to be able to use WooCommerce tickets properly with our Calendar, the following are required:
- The Events Calendar free plugin
- The Event Tickets free plugin (which provides the RSVP functionality that you are not using – you can just ignore it for now)
- The Event Tickets Plus premium plugin (which should replace our legacy WooCommerce Tickets plugin) which extends The Event Tickets free plugin and allows tickets to go through WooCommerce
From your system information, it looks like:
- You are still using WooTickets which is no longer compatible with our plugins and might explain your current issues. Here is a guide to upgrade to Event Tickets Plus: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-to-event-tickets-plus/
- I am not seeing either the Events Calendar in your system information, which could mean:
- That these are actually included in your WordPress theme (since I do not own Eventica)
- That the system information provided is not complete (you might have to scroll down as you copy-paste)
This means that the following 2 steps should be:
- Upgrading to Event Tickets Plus as per the instructions above
- Re-sending the complete system information to make sure I am not missing any valuable info
Best regards and thank you for your understanding,
Geoff B.
May 18, 2016 at 12:33 pm in reply to: What user profile must have the user to register tickets? #1116074Geoff B.
MemberHey Antonio,
Perhaps I misled you unintentionally in my previous answer – my apologies if that is the case.
What I meant to say is that, in theory, in order for visitors (not logged-in users) to be able to add tickets, you would need to:
- Provide website visitors with a user role
- Add edit_event_tickets to capability to that role (just as the checkbox suggests for Subscribers – the checkbox itself will not work for that)
I also said that, for several reasons, I would not recommend that (even for events without tickets). This opens the door to bot spamming, double-entries, inability to edit your entries, etc…
So in short, you will be far better off by requiring users to have an “account”. Most of our users combine this with the Theme my login plugin to have more control over the whole process: https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-my-login/
Let me know if you need anything else from me on this topic ?
Best regards,
Geoff B.

MemberBonsoir Benjamin,
Salutations,

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.Good news, very soon, when the Events Calendar 4.2 releases, you will simply be able to put these translations in the wp-content/languages/plugins/the-events-calendar folder. That way you will not lose your translations upon updates.
In the meantime, you can use the following snippet to do exactly that: https://slack-files.com/T0258N5TN-F187DLKF1-aed0afca3c
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

MemberGood evening Abigail and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the struggles you have been experiencing with tickets since you upgraded.
I would love to help you with this topic.Although the problem does look very similar, in reality the cause is potentially quite different. So, let’s make sure we leave no stone unturned here as we troubleshoot this as fast as possible.
As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
I totally understand what you are saying in regards of not being able to test for conflicts until later at night.
There are a couple of ways you could go about this:
- Try installing WordPress locally (using XAMP, WAMP or MAMP) and copying your site over
- At the very least, temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme to see if the issue persists (while using a Maintenance / Coming soon page)
Best regards,
Geoff B.

MemberHey Hannu,
Thank you for going through the testing for conflict procedure and congrats for finding the cause of the issue!
I believe you have the right idea. In some way, shape or form, you need to prevent Post Types Order from impacting the Events post type.
As you can imagine, we are fairly limited in our support of this third-party plugin. But, here are a few starting point to get you going:
- I believe the advanced version of their plugin provides more control over what the automatic order is: http://www.nsp-code.com/premium-plugins/wordpress-plugins/advanced-post-types-order/
- You might want to contact the plugin author to see if he has any hooks to prevent action on a specific post type such as Events
- It’s less than ideal, but you might want to investigate similar plugins that do not conflict or at least let you choose what post type they apply to. E.g.: https://wordpress.org/plugins/intuitive-custom-post-order/
I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!
