MemberGood evening Kristy,
Thank you for your answer.
I believe you have received this answer via our email address if I am not mistaking.I am sorry about the confusing messages you are receiving for the support on this topic.
Unfortunately our current recurrence rules cannot, out-of-the-box handle the “after the first Sunday” part of your requirement.
As I said before, I do wish I had a better answer for you, but it seems like your options for now are:
- To have a customizer add this feature for you
- To post a feature request
- Use an alternate method to obtain your specific recurrence rules such as importing your events from another source (CSV, XML, iCal, gCal)
- Use an imperfect recurrence rule for each of these 14 events like the one of the following screenshot and add exceptions

MemberGood evening Greg,
Thank you for your reply.
I believe the suggestion for the WPML team is a great one (upgrading your MySQL and PHP versions).
Let me know how that goes.

Geoff B.June 13, 2016 at 10:59 pm in reply to: Strange reproduceable 404 on translated venues/organizers but not on events #1126559Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Stefan,
Thank you for your answers and for your understanding.
We really appreciate your input on this.I assume this also applies for organizers as there are the same issues with them?
Yes, absolutely, these 2 separate workarounds will also work for the organizer issue.
If I newly create a venue in German and the permalinks are flushed in German then the venue shows up after publishing. If I then got to the translation into english, copy the content from the german version and then just hit preview the english translation is shown in that preview perfectl. If I then publish the translation clicking on the link returns a 404.
This is a very good point. I was able to replicate that exact scenario in my tests.
It is another facet of the issue: the fact that the venue and organizer strings are not being assigned languages in the WPML tables properly. When I check String Translation though, none of what is showing up is translated into German. Is this a problem ? Also under my settings “Theme and plugins localization” I have ticked “Don’t use WPML’s String Translation” at the moment, but also nothing changes if I tick “Translate the theme and plugins using WPML’s String Translation”. So, what is the plugin useful for and why did I have to download it?
I would recommend the following 2 steps:
- Go to WPML > Themes and Plugins Localization
- Using the checkboxes, re-scan our plugins for strings
This should give you complete control over the strings.
Let me know how that goes.
I am not a programmer, but during my trial and error sessions in the past few days it looked like that somehow the “right” path to the content isn’t stored properly for each language and only when I flush the permalinks they get corrected but then only for WP’s default language.
This is exactly what the issue is. Kudos!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The good news is that we have already identified this as being the cause of the issue.
We are working on fixing that. So, then I set the permalink settings to Plain, saved the changes and voila now both languages worked for venues and organizers, except that for some odd reason both language flags on the site had &lang=en added
The extra ?lang=en results from the initial flushing unfortunately.
The only known cure would be to manually edit the permalinks (after a backup) directly in phpMyAdminI am now left with “ugly” plain links on the site though, any idea why this is happening the way it is and how to circumvent this ? Is this a bug in WPML, the rewrite mod (should I try a different one maybe), event calendar pro or WP itself ?
The only way to truly circumvent this is through a maintenance release.
In the meantime, it appears that the only 3 options are the 2 workarounds I suggested or yours.
I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have. One more thing to add. It seems other people have similar issues with links getting translated and not properly forwarding to the actual content.
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/polylang-events-calendar/
Is this a bug related to the rewrite mod ? And why does that only apply to venues and organizers, but event links are properly rewritten.?To make a long story short, multilanguage plugins are not always automatically compatible with customs post types out of the box.
As a side note, we actually do not officially support Polylang. At least not for now.Rest assured we are working hard at this and thank you for your patience.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
June 13, 2016 at 9:54 pm in reply to: How to create ECP event feed (like blog post feed) on static home page #1126543Geoff B.
MemberDear Scott,
I believe I might have miscommunicated what I was trying to say. My apologies.
I do believe there is a solution to your situation. My suggestion of temporarily switching back to latest posts was simply to demonstrate that the checkbox could be helpful AND work with your theme. A proof of concept if you will.
As I offered, if you don’t mind, I would love to take a look at a copy of your WordPress theme (in a private reply). Who knows? Maybe there is an easy fix there to allow you to have a static home page that contains a blog feed with both posts and events.
On another note, since I updated to the latest version of ECP, I am getting some weird text showing above and below the calendar grid (“Calendar Month Navigation”) at http://www.rowaytoncurrents.com/?post_type=tribe_events. How do I get rid of this?
The fastest method to do that would be to add the following CSS rule to your WordPress theme
.tribe-events-month #tribe-events-header h3 {display:none !important;}Best regards,

June 13, 2016 at 9:44 pm in reply to: Community Events Featured Image not available to end user #1126540Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Glenn,
Thank you for writing back.
First of all, there is no such thing as a stupid question or technology user in my opinion 🙂
These are great questions. Most of our users prefer to use a link such http://onin.melbourne/events/community/add to force users to stay on the front-end of their website. They accomplish that via the Block access to WordPress dashboard checkbox in combination with the redirect URL set to http://onin.melbourne/events/community/add.
These same customers also like using Theme my login in combination with Community Events to provide a full front-end experience.
But in the end it’s a matter of personal preference.
The good news is that I was able to reproduce the issue of not seeing the featured image option and not receiving an email notification for those who prefer using the backend. As such, I will open a bug ticket. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. But stay tuned, we will contact you as soon as it’s fixed.
In the meantime, if you would rather use the backend method, there are a couple of workarounds:
- Add the upload_files capability to your subscriber role. This is easily accomplished via a plugin such as Members.
- Use a plugin such as better wordpress notifications to ensure you get email notifications each time an event is created
I realize those are not ideal, but they will work until these bugs are fixed.
Users always mess up the dates/times of events that span multiple dates. I don’t think I have had one do it correctly yet. Today’s example is a Magic show that goes for about 2 weeks. 27/06/2016 @ 10:30 am – 09/07/2016 @ 11:50 am That will be one tired magician! The form is confusing and probably needs some tweaking of the layout. (I can put this feedback somewhere else if needed)
Yes, if you don’t mind, a separate thread to address this specific aspect would be awesome.
Let me know how that goes and thank you for everything

Geoff B.June 13, 2016 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Time Not Displaying For New Recurring Events After Upgrade #1126527Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Sumaiya,
Thank you for the additional investigations.
It is really helpful.First of all I am really glad to hear that, for the most part, the issues are gone on your end.
I have been able to reproduce the preview issue on my end as well with a default WordPress theme, so there is a bug there.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As such, I have opened a ticket for the bug.
Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. But stay tuned we will contact you as soon as the fix is out!In regards to the redirections getting added, I was able to reproduce it on one of my installs. But unable to reproduce it consistently.
It seems like during the 4.2 install procedure, new rules are automatically added to the redirections row in wp_options.However, I was not able to reproduce the addition of new rules after the upgrade.
I will need to investigate this further. On my personal install (and after a backup), I simply wiped out that row from the database to create a new one to make sure things ran smoothly.
Have a great day!

MemberGood evening Luciana and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the fact that your calendar is not showing up in Brazilian Portuguese.
I would love to help you with this topic. As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Secondly, just to make sure I understand correctly, are you looking to have a multi-lingual website or a unilingual Brazilian Portuguese website.
In the latter case, could you tell me what is the WordPress language setting found in Settings > General of your WordPress admin ?
Best regards,

Thank you for reaching out to us and for offering your suggestions on how to improve translatable strings.
It is certainly appreciated. All of these are excellent points. As such, I have opened a ticket for them.
I cannot commit to a specific release date at this point. But stay tuned you will be contacted as soon as these changes are implemented!

June 13, 2016 at 4:16 pm in reply to: Some items in the Filter Bar don’t translate into German #1126410Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Stefan and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.Actually, these fields from the filterbar are not translatable yet (but they totally should be – I will open a ticket for that).
The good news is that it looks like you have 2 separate installs to tackle the multilingual aspect of things.
This means that you can translate it to your liking by going to Events -> Settings -> Filters and clicking on the down arrow of each of the filters you want to translate. This will let you customize the labels to your liking.Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

June 13, 2016 at 4:11 pm in reply to: Usyng polylang I get two Categories "Events" and I Delete the wrong one… HELP! #1126406Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Silvia and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the 404 error message you are getting.
I would love to help you with this topic. In this specific case, http://www.maremma24.it/events/ is not a category page, but rather the calendar’s main URL.
You should be able to get that back by going to Events -> Settings -> General.
Once there, look for the Events URL slug , adapt it to your liking and re-save this setting page. You also might need to re-save your permalinks in the process.
Also, while I am at it, please know that for now, we officially do not support Polylang, but rather WPML (which we are in the process of supporting even better).
That being said, many of our customers have been able to get Polylang to work great with our plugin.Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

MemberGood evening Matt,
I am very sorry to hear that this was not fixed to your expectations back in March.
Thank you for being upfront about your perception of how bugs are handled on our end.
It certainly helps us grow and improve in how we handle and communicate things.I can absolutely see how this can be very frustrating on your end (and on your client’s end).
As stated in my previous reply, I am following-up on this topic with Dev to get a workaround / temporary fix on this issue that is most likely impacting many of our customers workflow.
Best regards,

MemberGood evening Shawn,
I’m super stoked the update fixed it. As far as I’m concerned, this is the most important part.
You are welcome back on our support forums any time 🙂
For now, I am going to close this thread.
Have a great week!

MemberHey Brandon (and Paul),
Thank you for your answer. I am sorry that these steps did not help out.
Based on that I went ahead and ran a bunch of tests on a wide variety of installs.
The “good news” is that I was able to reproduce the issue.I noticed that there were a couple of issues on that install in the wp_options table after upgrading to 4.2. (which might also be your case):
- On that install, I had the Redirection plugin installed. For some unknown reason, this automatically generated a bunch of random redirections which in turn impacted the redirection and rewrite_rules rows
- Secondly, the tribe_events_calendar_options was being duplicated
So here is what I did to fix the issue (using phpMyAdmin and after a database backup):
- I deleted the redirection and rewrite_rules rows in the wp_options table
- I deleted both rows for tribe_events_calendar_optionsin the wp_options table
- Set my permalinks to postname and re-saved them
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

June 11, 2016 at 1:03 am in reply to: Strange reproduceable 404 on translated venues/organizers but not on events #1125516Geoff B.
MemberGood evening Stefan,
Thank you for your answer and for providing a thorough description of your experience.
You are absolutely right, there is a ton of room for improvement on how well WPML is handled.Thank you also for your invitation to log in. Unfortunately, our policy does not allow us to log in to clients websites for several reasons, including liability.
The good news is that we are making some serious progress on this and hopefully, if all goes according to plan, we should be ready to release some substantial updates on the WPML compatibility before the fall begins.
Your specific issue led me to do some thorough tests on the current compatibility with 3.3.8 (which introduced a few glitches that are also there in the new version).
This led me to discover a new bug with the venue URL. So thank you for that.
The good news is that I have a workaround for it.Temporarily, until we come up with a permanent fix, it looks like “venue” does not like to get translated in the URL.
This leaves you with a couple of options:- Both in string translation AND in your second language po/mo file, you need to remove the translation to venue. Not ideal, but it will work.
- Add a redirect rule (via a redirect plugin), where every time a URL in your secondary language has the translated version of “venue” in it you redirect it to a url with the untranslated “venue” string instead.
Just to clarify things, currently, officially, the only WPML method supported is language as a parameter (?lang=). The directory based method (as in http://www.berlinbeerweek.com/en/veranstaltungsort/testvenue1/) will simply work for several specific scenarios, but there will be the odd time where there is a random hardcoded ?lang= that will show up at the end of your URL.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working at changing that.
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.

MemberGood evening Brandon and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the fact that you are unable to save these settings.
I would love to help you with this topic. The first thing I would recommend is to re-save your permalinks.
Secondly, would you mind opening up the Google Chrome inspector and seeing if there is any error message in the console as you are trying to save these settings ?
Finally, was there, at some point, a caching plugin on the site ?
Have a good week-end,
Geoff B.
