Good evening Jen and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!

Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.

We are interested in having the featured photo of an event post show on the calendar.

The short answer is yes. You can have the featured photo of an image show up in the calendar.

How to achieve that will depend on which view you are interested in.

    For example:

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Good evening Veronica and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!

Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.

Does Events Calendar Pro allow people to submit an event without an account?

    That is a great question.

The short answer is no. To be able to submit events, with the Events Calendar or the Events Calendar Pro, you will need at least some basic WordPress user role with the appropriate capabilities and permissions.

That being said, one of our other products, Community Events will allow you to do just that and control if the event is immediately published or not: https://theeventscalendar.com/product/wordpress-community-events/

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Good evening Cary,

    I reviewed your system information.
It all looks good. I wish I could access the website to investigate, unfortunately I am getting blocked by the following message”Your access to this site has been limited”

If you can, I would recommend increasing the max_execution time on your server to 300

Also, When i reinstall, will i need to enter my license info or will it automatically populate once i reinstall the plugins?

The license keys should still be there (as the rest of your settings). No need to enter them again.

If deleting and reinstalling does not work,  it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.
    This is usually because of:

    1. A conflict with another plugin
    2. A conflict with your WordPress theme
    3. A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating

A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:

    1. Make a backup of your database
    2. Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Good evening Gurpreet,

Thank you for writing back and trying different settings.

I was mostly curious to see if the “Events Template” setting (dropdown) would have made a difference.

In any case, you are right, CSS should do the trick.

Try adding the following CSS rule to your style.css file or in your Custom CSS metabox:

    #tribe-events-pg-template {
    width: 92% !important;
    }

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Good evening Huiwen,

Thank you for writing back and providing the requested information.

Based on what I am seeing, I believe the issue might be coming from a setting found under Events -> Settings -> Tickets. Try unchecking the “Try to set the status of new ticket orders to “complete” automatically” setting and see if that helps.

If it doesn’t, could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.

Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.
This way I will get access to any updates or customizations you might have made.

Hang in there as we research this further.

    Best regards,

    Good evening Randy,

    Thank you for writing back.

    1. I am not comfortable changing the code and I don’t to mess it up completely. There has to be an easier way to line up the pictures and information… ? It makes no sense that I have 2 across and then 1 right aligned, and 3 across again. How can I fix this? This is the reason I purchased the premium

I totally understand. Some people prefer not to tweak code at all.

And you are right, it does not make sense for the display to be the way it currently is.

The reason the display is acting up is because the images used all have different ratios and the different excerpts all have different lengths.

As a result the display rules are struggling to make everything nice and tidy.

The good news is that there are a couple of solution to this:

    1. The most robust one would be to tweak the code as suggested earlier. This has the advantage of making things “automatic” for you. In other words, you no longer need to concern yourself with things such as image ratio or excerpt length
    2. You could manually make sure that all images you are using as featured image have the same ratio. For example, 300×200 pixels or 600 x 400 pixels share the same ratio. You will also need to control the excerpt length manually (more on that below).

    2. I have no idea where this is (that you say to create a summary) “use the Excerpt metabox of the Edit Event screen.”

What is going on is that, if you do not specify an excerpt, WordPress will randomly display the text it finds in the event’s description.

To control that, please refer to the screenshot from my previous reply.

    In other words:

    1. From an Edit Event screen, click on “Screen options” in the top right corner.
    2. Look for the excerpt checkbox and check it (this is a one-time thing, you will never need to do this again).
    3. Now scroll down in your Edit Event screen until you find a new section called “Excerpt”. It should be blank (you might need to expand it).
    4. In that blank metabox, enter the text you want to appear. WordPress will now display that text instead of random content.
    5. Repeat for every event.

If all of the above is still on the cumbersome side of things for you, I would like to offer to implement the suggested fix for you.

In order to do that could you please send me a copy of the latest version of your WordPress theme / child theme via a link to a .zip file link (stored Dropbox or Google Drive) so that I can run some tests on my end ? I recommend a private reply for that purpose.

Please ensure you are using the latest files as found on your actual website.

    Good evening @jskk123,

    Thank you for writing back.

I am sorry to hear that the issue keeps coming back for you.
With that in mind, my question was actually directed to Peggy.

As suggested earlier, even though the symptoms look identical, could you please open a separate thread for this ?

This way you will get personalized support based on your system information and, most importantly, Peggy will not get notified at each exchange.

    Best regards,

    Good evening Cary,

    Thank you for writing back.

No, you will not need to re-enter any setting or event if you delete the plugin completely.
The reason for this is because both the settings and the events themselves are stored in the database.

That being said, I always recommend a database backup in case things go wrong.

As to why this is happening, I am not sure exactly. But it really seems like something is off with the upgrade process on your server.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

Good evening Sebastien and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

The short answer is yes. You can tweak pretty much any view to your liking.

You can even steal code from other views to speed things up.
You might want to read our Themer’s guide to get a sense of how that works.

If coding is not really your thing, you might want to hire one of our recommended customizers to do the customization for you.

Let me know if that helps.

Good evening Gary and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the error message you are getting while trying to view event listings.
I would love to help you with this topic.

My first recommendation would be to go through the following: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fixing-http-404-errors/

Secondly, I would highly recommend using a different slug for the single event view (e.g.: event) instead of having both the calendar slug and the single event slug both set to “events”.

Additionally, please make sure you do not have an actual page that has the “events” slug.
Even though the calendar and the events are not real pages, they still need exclusivity over these slugs.

Let me know how that goes.

Good evening George and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I would love to help you with this topic.

what the difference would be just having WooCommerce by itself. What advantage(s) does ET+ provide besides event & product in one step rather than two?

You are right, cutting things down to 1 step is clearly one of the big differences between the 2 approaches. But there is more.

You get the Sales and attendees reports tied to the events as well.
Furthermore, you also get check-in abilities (manual or with a QR code).

You can also extend our plugin with a few snippets or extensions to do things such as a bcc of orders to the event organizer or a person of your choice.

But, what is probably our most popular feature is the fact that you can request additional attendee information as part of your tickets, built-in.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

Good evening Tracy and welcome back!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are facing with the missing geolocation on your website.
I would love to help you with this topic.

when I click on “Fix Venues Data” it has no effect. I’m also noticing a note at the top that says “The Google Maps API daily query limit has been reached!”

This most likely means that you are hosted on a shared web hosting plan.

What is going on is that not all the Google Maps API calls from our code are going through your Google Maps API key.

Therefore, it defaults to your server’s key (if any) OR your server’s IP address (which probably reaches its limit fairly quickly being shared).

    Known workarounds are:

    1. Try to set latitude and longitude manually for these venues (from the Edit Venue screen)
    2. Try to ask for a dedicated IP address with your web host
    3. Use a dedicated virtual web host or better

I realize these are not great workarounds, but they are the only ones available in your specific situation until a patch is released.

Unfortunately, I cannot commit to a release date at this point. But stay tuned, you will be contacted when the fix is released.

Let me know if that helps.

    Have a great day!

    Geoff B.
