    Hi @neuroticartist,

I had worked you with this on the thread you posted to WordPress.org and thought I’d jump in here as well. It’s clear that both threads have gotten quite off track, so I’d like to attempt to steer things back in a more productive direction.

Let’s get back to the original request. You are looking for a way to:

    • Include events in the main blog loop
    • Order those events by the Event Start Date in ascending order

We’ve already established that the main blog loop ignores the Event Start Date because it is designed to order all posts (regardless of what post type it includes) but Publish Date.

I had provided you with an example snippet that not only adds Event posts to the main blog loop, but orders all posts by Date Modified. That is not exactly what you were looking for, but was meant to be an example of what is possible.

Here is a more productive version of that snippet:

    https://gist.github.com/geoffgraham/1435e01e9f2861f7a4a432c367e3d043

    This will do the following:

    • Add Events to the main blog loop on a homepage
    • Order all posts by Date Published in Descending order

I hope this will be a more workable solution for you, or at least give you the blueprint for what you’re looking to do. If what I’ve articulated here does not match up with you requirements, please let us know and we’d, of course, be happy to look at it again with fresh eyes.

    Thanks,
    Geoff

    Hi Gerald,

Sure, no problem! I’ve gone ahead and issued a refund for your orders and the funds should be back in your account within 5-10 business days.

I’m certainly bummed that you won’t be needing the plugins this time around but I hope you’ll consider us again for another project the next time you need an awesome calendar. 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hi @vchhealthcare,

Thanks for writing in and I hope you had a great weekend. 🙂

Those licenses are both for Events Calendar PRO. The “Personal” level license allows you to grant the license to a single website. The “Agency” level license grants you seats for up to 10 websites. That’s the difference between the two licenses on your account.

The Personal level license was purchased on July 24, 2013 (Order #56839). The Agency level license was originally purchased as a Business level license on January 8, 2015 (Order #930548 ) but was upgraded to an Agency level license on February 2, 2015 (Order #939480).

You do not need to renewal both licenses if you do not wish to. It’s totally ok to renew one and not the other. If you need Events Calendar PRO installed and licensed on more than one site, then I would suggest renewing the Agency level license because the Personal level license will only register a single website.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have additional questions about your account and I’d be happy to help as best I can.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Hi Malachi and welcome to the forums!

Absolutely, that’s totally possible! I would suggest overriding the list/nav.php template to make that happen. You can learn more about overriding calendar templates in our Themer’s Guide, but it basically boils down to this:

    • Make a copy of the nav.php template. It is located at /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/views/list/nav.php
    • Make a new folder in your theme called tribe-events
    • Make a new folder in that one called list
    • Drop your copied nav.php file in that last folder

Now that the template is in your theme, you can modify it to suit your needs. In this case, change the labels for both links, which are located in Lines 26 and 34.

Will this work for you? Please let me know. 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hi Carl,

    Thanks for getting in touch!

Here are the plugins I would recommend for your client:

    • The Events Calendar (free) – You’re already familiar with this one, but it is the core plugin that all others rely on. It allows you to create event posts and display them in a calendar format on the site.
    • Event Tickets (free) – This extends The Events Calendar so you can create free tickets (RSVPs) for the evetns published to the site.
    • Event Tickets Plus – This extends Event Tickets so that you can create paid tickets for events and take payments for them by integrating into WooCommerce, which acts as the shopping cart for accepting payments. It also provides a way for you to show how many tickets are left for an event and to take registration information during checkout.

I believe this will give you everything you’re looking for with event publishing, ticket creation and registration functionality.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know!

    Cheers,
    Geoff

    Hi Sascha,

    Thanks for writing in!

Are those the only two user roles registered on your site? For example, would it be possible to assign someone to the Editor or Author role instead?

Another possibility might be to create your own custom role and assign folks to it. I would suggest checking out the User Role Editor plugin if that’s something you are interested in doing.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know!

    Hi Victoria!

Good question. The Events Calendar does not include social sharing options right out of the box. You can, however, use other third-party plugins to add that. Here’s a guide we put together that provides more details on that with some suggestions for social sharing plugins to consider:

    Hi Mark (and Brett),

I’d be happy to help you here directly in the forums. 🙂

I checked your account and it does not appear that you have purchased a license for Event Aggregator. These are the licenses I do see:

    • Events Calendar PRO (business)
    • Filter Bar (business)

The messaging is definitely quite confusing (and something I’ll look into separate from this thread), but I think the core issue here is that you are entering a license key into the Event Aggregator field for another product.

Will you please confirm which product the license you you are entering belongs to and make sure that it is being entered for the correct products on the Events > Settings > Licenses screen?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Nachum,

I just visited your site and it appears that the tickets for the event are both displaying on the page and can be added to the cart for purchase. Here is a quick screencast I put together that shows where I am able to select the number of tickets for the event and add them to the cart.

Are you seeing the same thing? If so, then that’s great because it looks like everything is working. If not, then please let me know where I should be looking and I’d be happy to look at it again.

    Thanks!

Hi Douglas and welcome to the forums!

Sorry for the trouble here. I have seen this pop up from time-to-time and it is indeed frustrating. The good news is that most cases I’ve seen have a relatively simple fix.

In many cases, the map does not display because the Google Maps API is unable to identify the geolocation coordinates for the venue of the event. To fix this, please navigate to the Edit screen for the venue that is not displaying.

From there, click on the “Use latitude + longitude” option in the Venue Information area (screenshot). That will allow you to manually enter the geolocation points for the venue’s address, which you can find by searching for the address in Google Maps — it will be contained in the Google Maps URL address bar.

Once you save the settings, that will give the Google Maps API the exact location and should resolve the issue of the map not displaying.

However, if you find that map continues to not display even after you have followed these steps, please send me a link to one of the events in question and I’d be happy to look into it some more.

    Thanks!

Hi Elizabeth, hope you had a great weekend!

I’m afraid there is no setting in Event Aggregator that allows you to only fetch events for the current and next upcoming year. You can import events that are on a specific day, but there is no date range filter that can be applied for only events in that range.

That’s a fantastic idea, though, so I went ahead and put a ticket into our feature request forum. Please add your vote when you have a chance!

Thanks for chiming in Antoine — Yes, deleted events are removed from the calendar, but they will stay in WordPress so that Event Aggregator ignores them on future imports. Please see this guide for a full overview of how events are managed after import. If you have additional questions, please open a new thread and we’d be happy to help you there. 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hi Marcus,

Hope you had a great weekend!

Yes, you should be able to use the URL to link directly to the same filtered results.

Your link does not appear to do that. However, I was able to use a similar URL when checking on my test site.

I do see that you have older versions of the plugin installed. Would you be willing to update the following plugins:

    • The Events Calendar 4.3.3
    • Events Calendar PRO 4.3.3
    • Community Events 4.3.1
    • Filter Bar 4.3.3

Let’s start there to see if that clears things up. I’m hoping it does but, if it does not, then I also see that you are using two other third-party plugins that make use of The Events Calendar and we can start digging into those if needed.

    Cheers!

Good question! Event Aggregator does not sync in “real time” but you can set it to check for new events hourly, in which case, that would count towards 24 scheduled imports — one for each time the import runs.

Does that help clarify things a bit more? Sorry if I’ve made this more confusing than helpful!

    Geoff
