Hey there folks. Thanks for the notes here.

Shannon: if I understand what you’re trying to do here, couldn’t you add the blurb you want in the loop into the “Excerpt” field and leave the regular description as-is? Or, create the blurb in your description field; add the “Read More” link; and have the rest of the blurb below, thus hidden behind a “Continue reading” link for users on the frontend? Let me know if one of those will do the trick or if I’ve misunderstood the issue here.

John: for the widget, you should be able to turn on the Events List Advanced widget under Appearance –> Widgets to display the list in that simple format. Have you given it a go?

Let me know if either of you still have questions/concerns here and I’ll adjust my response accordingly.

Thanks for the tip here, Kindra! This is awesome to hear and shows that you know your stuff. Hopefully other users faced with this issue down the road will get some value out of this. Cheers!

Hi again Sheila. So I jumped into your site as an admin with the credentials you sent over, and I’m seeing that the problematic user account was “Member.” As that is not a default role that I have on my WP install, can I assume that you created this? If so, where would I see the exact roles/capabilities assigned to this user on the backend?

It sounds like this may be a problem with customized roles, which we’ll want to get patched up for sure. Let me know and I can recreate this on my end and get our devs what they need accordingly.

Hey Jaedan. Thanks for the note here; we definitely have plans for more randomized recurrence patterns in the future for The Events Calendar/PRO (during the 2.1 lifecycle), and once those are introduced they’ll be ported over to Community for sure. Stay tuned on that end!

Hi there Craig and Michelle. Thanks for the notes here. The registration aspect is controlled by your overall WordPress install and whether it has registration enabled that way. If so, users can register as they would normally.

That being said…finding a way to tie it specifically to the Community form is a solid idea. If we can make it work that’d be a killer value add. No guarantees on whether it’s doable or when it’ll make the cut but as there aren’t many issues in the hopper for Community at the moment I don’t expect it’ll be too long before a dev gets me some thoughts on it that I can share with you.

Thanks for your patience and support so far. Please let me know what else I can do down the road.

Hey Jaeden. Thanks for the note here; I responded to your email as well, but I’ll take a look at this for you. Can you turn off the feature requiring users be logged in to post, though? When I click that link I’m prompted to log in and this needs to be tested as an anonymous user. Thanks in advance!

Mike: confirmed. This is on the top of Jonah’s plate when hits the forums tomorrow. Thanks for your patience thus far.

Hi Marilyn. Thanks for reaching out, and for your explanation of the issue. We have had a few reports of this and it is usually the theme or another plugin conflicting. Sounds like in this case we’ve narrowed it down to the theme.

I’m assuming in your case, this only occurs in list view (though correct me if I’m wrong there). If so you’ll want to look in list.php to see how that list is coded. If the theme developer was willing to shoot us a copy of his plugin we’d happily have our devs check it out to see if they could identify a quick solution on our end too…

Hi there Peter. Thanks for reaching out, and for your interest. Looks like we do indeed have a German translation of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO already, so you should be set on that end.

Community is not yet translated. But if you were interested in doing it, I’d be happy to give you a license in exchange. (That same offer extends to anyone on here willing to translate the plugins to their native language). It’d probably take less time than translating the core The Events Calendar plugin since Community is fairly lightweight. Shoot an email to pro /a/ tri.be if you’re game and we’ll hook it up.

Hi there Sacha. Thanks for the note. If you’re looking for complex examples I would definitely suggest starting at our Showcase thread here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/showcase-2-0/. It has some ridiculously complex (and awesome) sites.

For something on the more basic side, you can always check out our demo at http://demo.tri.be.

Hey Bert. Are you sure that site is using The Events Calendar? It looks like another plugin implementation to me…

Hi there Greg. Thanks for reaching out here, and for your interest in the PRO release. Apologies that we took a few days to get you a response…we generally don’t hit the forums too actively on the weekends.

You could do most if not all of what you’re going for, but it wouldn’t be with RSS feeds…the feeds that the calendar comes with at this point are pretty basic and operate more as if these were regular blog posts (listing them by published date) than events. We’ve got that as something on the books to change for a future release but it is what it is for now.

However, have you checked out our template tag documentation at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation ? With template tags you can decide what event data displays on various pages throughout your site, beyond just the /events page.

Let me know if you’re still having issues from there and I’ll try to point you in the right direction.

Hey there William: awesome to hear you got this taken care of! Thanks for confirming as much, this will definitely be helpful to other users impacted by this same issue down the road.

Let us know if we can do anything more here!
