Upcoming events: Display a shortened excert where user can opt to "read more"

For the upcoming events list, I would like to have short blurbs and the main info for the event displayed instead of the entire event description. Can you tell me how to do this?

Also trying to have a simple list in the sidebar widget, as seen here: http://themes.designcrumbs.com/demo/?theme=Campaign-WP …I cannot find where to adjust/enable this setting.

Hey there folks. Thanks for the notes here.

Shannon: if I understand what you’re trying to do here, couldn’t you add the blurb you want in the loop into the “Excerpt” field and leave the regular description as-is? Or, create the blurb in your description field; add the “Read More” link; and have the rest of the blurb below, thus hidden behind a “Continue reading” link for users on the frontend? Let me know if one of those will do the trick or if I’ve misunderstood the issue here.

John: for the widget, you should be able to turn on the Events List Advanced widget under Appearance –> Widgets to display the list in that simple format. Have you given it a go?

Let me know if either of you still have questions/concerns here and I’ll adjust my response accordingly.
