MemberHi there!
Thanks for getting in touch! (And thanks also for sharing a link to your site with us–fantastic work!) The Events Calendar is intended to operate as a full-fledged calendar and event management tool and uses its own post types for storing events, venues, and so on. If you’re looking for something that automatically pulls data from regular WordPress posts to populate a sidebar widget, our plugin may not be the best fit for your needs. You can learn more about our widget offerings and view a live demo here on our demo site, WP Shindig. Unfortunately, the hover functionality you describe is not included with our widget (though it is present on the full-size calendar). Still, the WP Shindig site is worth a quick review if you’re wondering what our products are all about and whether they might suit your purposes!
I hope that helps–sorry to potentially be the bearer of bad news! That said, let me know if you should have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can do to assist!

MemberHi there!
Thanks for getting in touch! This is definitely something that you can achieve, either by:
- employing a series of custom recurrence rules (with the correct hours set for each), or
- creating your events with one custom recurrence rule, splitting off events within the series using the “Edit Single” function on the Events listing, and editing each event to specify the correct hours
Does that help to address your concerns? Let me know if I can answer any specific questions you might have about your intended setup! 🙂

MemberHi Jim,
Thanks for following up to provide some more information! I’ve located your thread on our WordPress.org forum, so I’m going to close this one to let us continue our conversation there. See you on dot-org! 🙂

MemberHi there!
Thanks for getting in touch! Regarding support for user-submitted events with our calendar plugins, this is achievable by adding our Community Events plugin to either one of our calendar offerings (The Events Calendar or Events Calendar PRO). You can adjust a number of settings to control what user permissions are required to submit events, specify manual approval settings for user-submitted events, and so on. I’d encourage you to take a look at our product pages and Knowledgebase articles to see if it might have the features you require for your event management needs!
Does that help to answer your questions? Let me know! 🙂 Thanks again for stopping by!

MemberHi Serena,
Thanks for getting in touch! Great question–this is absolutely a recurrence structure that’s achievable with Events Calendar PRO. We have a Knowledgebase article that goes into more detail on recurring events in PRO and the options available for specifying recurrence rate, including the “custom” recurrence type that you’ll need for this setup. Feel free to take a look, and let me know if you should have any other questions! 🙂
Thank you!

MemberI’m so sorry for the confusion here! Due to the wide range and high complexity of the varied products we have on offer, we provide support to users in separate locations for each of our individual product offerings. If the issues you’re experiencing are central to Events Calendar PRO, we can certainly assist you over in that forum (and we’d definitely be glad to help you with accessing your account regardless). However, if Event Tickets is the primary product that’s causing difficulties for you, our team is best equipped to help in the forum for that particular plugin. This ensures that we’re able to provide effective, targeted support and keeps things moving along quickly across all channels. Again, I apologize for inadvertently causing more confusion with your situation!
Looking now, I do see you’ve already made a post on our Event Tickets forum as requested. Thanks so much for doing that! Since we’ve already spoken a bit more at length here regarding your situation, I’ll make an extra note of your thread, and we’ll be sure to have one of our team follow up with you post-haste. Thanks again for your patience and understanding. We’ll make sure you get squared away on all fronts just as soon as possible! 🙂

Thanks again for stopping by!

MemberGreat question! The calendar functionality that you describe isn’t included by default as a component of venue pages, but this is likely something that could be achieved by way of customizations. Our Themer’s Guide has plenty of information on plugin templates and making modifications–should you choose to go this route, our premium support team would be glad to try and offer suggestions and direction wherever possible!
I hope that helps! Let me know if you should have any other questions! 🙂

MemberThanks for following up! The issue you’re describing may be a quirk with our WP Shindig site in particular, as we’ve so far been unable to replicate it on other sites–we’ll continue to perform further testing on our end. We appreciate you taking the time to bring it to our attention!
If you’d like to give users the option of viewing events for a given venue, you can achieve this via the venue taxonomies themselves, which are handled much like post categories by WordPress. You can see an example venue page on our WP Shindig page here! Perhaps this type of view would work for your needs? Let me know if you should have any other questions or if I can clarify anything! 🙂

MemberHi there!
Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m so sorry for the issues you’re having here! While we’re not equipped to field technical support questions here in our pre-sales forum, I’d really like to get you set up with your account credentials so someone can help you over in premium support. Would you mind dropping us a quick email with some information that we might use to look up your account? (You should find an option for “Help accessing my account” in the drop-down menu provided.) We’ll see what we can do to get you squared away as quickly as possible!
Thank you!

MemberHi Melanie,
Thanks for getting in touch! You can actually achieve this functionality with just The Events Calendar, I’m pleased to report–simply scroll to the bottom of any category’s list view and click the “Export Listed Events” button to download an ICS file of that category’s upcoming events. You can view a single category’s events by clicking the category name in the details box at the bottom of an event in that category.
Does that help to address your issue here? Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to assist! 🙂

MemberHi there!
Thanks so much for getting in touch! I’m afraid that we’re not equipped to provide technical support for current plugin users here in our pre-sales forum. We’d be more than happy to assist you at one of the following locations:
- If you’re using one or more of our free plugins such as The Events Calendar and Event Tickets, you can request assistance on the WordPress.org support forum for the affected product.
- If you’re a current license holder for one of our premium offerings, please log in to your account and submit a post to the appropriate forum for the affected product.
It sounds like you’ve already run through our conflict testing steps, but it doesn’t hurt to review before making a new post, just to ensure you’ve ticked off all the boxes. We appreciate you taking the time to test for us! 🙂
Thanks again, and we’ll see you in the forums!

MemberHi Jon,
Thanks for stopping by! If your ticketing needs only extend as far as taking information and reserving spaces without paying through the plugin, you might wish to consider our basic Event Tickets product–the RSVP functionality would allow you to collect basic information for your attendees without requiring payment, letting you handle payment processing manually after reservations are closed.
Would something like this work for your needs? Let me know if you should have any other questions or if I can clarify anything! 🙂 Thanks again!
