ParticipantHey Yalcin,
Sorry to hear about these problems! One thing you wrote stands out to me quite significantly:
Sometimes it goes away after page refresh but many times it does not.
If what I quoted above is indeed the situation with your site, then this sounds like it could be an issue arising from your webserver. I would recommend contacting your web host and seeing if they can spot why the server is giving a 500 error intermittently with The Events Calendar plugins activated.
They may be able to provide some insight as to why that’s happening.
I hope this helps!

ParticipantHey Brendan,
Making custom views is indeed possible. However, it’s a quite-involved thing to do, so I would recommend against it unless you are very familiar with writing custom code and such in general.
I mention this because we unfortunately cannot answer questions related to how to implement such a customization, nor can we offer support for issues that arise along the way with the customization–check out the “Product Support” section of this page for more information: http://theeventscalendar.com/terms.
It’s an esoteric enough customization that we don’t even have much documentation about it, although there are two key pieces of documentation that should be quite helpful.
First is the “Adding views” section of the following article: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/understanding-the-tribe-events-bar/.
Next is our “Themer’s Guide”, which by now you’ve probably already seen before, but here it is just in case: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/.
It’s a tricky customization to pull off, but if you want to make custom views, I would recommend reading and studying the code of Events Calendar Pro; this premium add-on itself “adds views” to the core views provided by The Events Calendar, so you can take much of the code in it and reshape it to your needs.
There is not a simple file I can point to that has all of the relevant code; you’ll have to do some digging and tinkering because the code is spread throughout Events Calendar Pro in an number of places. But if you try and back-engineer how the Map View and Photo View are added, for example, you should be able to put something together on your own that’s quite handy 🙂
Best of luck with your customizations!

ParticipantHey Ebrahim,
Thanks for reaching out!
This is unfortunately not possible at this time 🙁
I’m sorry to bear that news but hope this is a clear answer that helps you proceed with your project .
Let me know if there’s anything else I can try to help with!

ParticipantHey Christian,
We unfortunately don’t have a standard list of recommendations. In general, though, we recommend going with a theme that follows WordPress coding standards. So, any free theme on http://wordpress.org/themes/ is an example of this.
Other good options are premium theme shops whose themes meet those coding standards. Array Themes is one of those shops → http://arraythemes.com. WooThemes, too → http://woothemes.com
I do not recommend any premium theme that does not follow WordPress coding standards strictly. It reveals much about the quality of the theme and it’s worth asking any theme vendor if they do this before buying from them.
Once you ensure theme-standards compliance, find a theme that works aesthetically and functionally for your project and give it a shot.
I’m sorry that I don’t have many specific recommendations here! But I hope the highlighting of the importance of WordPress coding standards leads you in a good direction to find a well-made, high-quality theme.
Trust me, while the “good” themes might seem pricey up front, the amount of money they save in the long run compared to getting a cheap but poorly-coded theme more than pays for itself. I’m speaking from experience on that! 😀
Best of luck with your theme-hunting! Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Karly,
Thanks for reaching out! To address your questions, no, at this time Community Events does not impose any such limits like this on its own. If there are such limits on your site they are coming from another source like your server or another aspect of your WordPress installation.
I hope this information helps!
Thanks,

ParticipantHey Dario,
Thanks for reaching out. While I don’t have much insight on how to write a custom template like this in your theme, you may definitely find it easier to use the second method you suggested:
should i just not use the login feature on the theme and give different roles to different users? i am a bit confused on the process
thanks for your help. The Events Calendar does not have the sort of user-access management features you are describing here; in fact, none of our plugins do 🙁
So, unfortunately, for more information about your custom templates and such you may need to contact your theme developer’s support channel for more assistance on that. (You said this: “I am using a template that has a login feature already”, so I assume this is a theme that you have purchased from somewhere or something like that).
I’m sorry that there isn’t much actionable information in my reply here; this is not a question we have much insight on, unfortunately. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Simon,
This is possible only via code-customization at this time. We unfortunately cannot help with custom code.
However, our support engineer Nico once shared a snippet of code that sends an email to the “organizer” of a community-submitted event. You can find that snippet in this thread → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/send-event-organizer-an-email-after-event-submission/
I would recommend starting with this snippet and then hacking/tweaking it to sent to the email addresses you would like, with the attached documents you need and such.
I’m sorry that I cannot delve into much more detail here, but I hope this helps you get started!
If you’re not familiar with custom coding and need to hire someone to complete these customizations for your site, then one resource that may be helpful towards that end is this list of customizers that we’ve compiled here → http://m.tri.be/18k1. We have no affiliation with any of these folks, they’re simply some well-respected names in the community that are to handy to share in situations like this one.
Cheers!

ParticipantI appreciate all of your input here! I will close this thread since Eelco’s original questions have been addressed, but feel free to post your request for iDeal integration on our UserVoice page here → tribe.uservoice.com
There may already be a listing that requests this – in which case you can vote up that request.
This page is a great way to make your voice heard.
Cheers!

ParticipantHey Jonathan,
I’m sorry to hear that no progress has been made. Can you share a link to your site’s “Community submission” page so I can take a look at the issue live on your site?
As for the other two issues, I’m glad to see that Josh and our team are on top of the first issue. I don’t have much to add to the discussion around that issue, but I’m wondering, what is the other issue you are referring to?
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey Ingrid,
It is possible to do what you are trying to do, but the specific code changes required to do that are unfortunately a bit more complicated than the code snippets shared in the forum thread you linked to above.
I’m sorry about this! If this is a feature you really need, and you are willing to hire someone to build this feature for you, then one thing that might be helpful is this list of Customizers that we maintain here → http://m.tri.be/18k1
We have no affiliation with those folks, but they’re some well-respected developers in the community that could be hired to build something like you describe here.
I’m sorry to disappoint but wish you the best of luck with your customizations.
Sincerely,
GergeGeorge
ParticipantSure thing, @neal – your idea is not a bad one. You could also even make a “custom plugin” just for your site, and store all of your customizations there (although for PHP template overrides for anything in The Events Calendar, those template overrides themselves will still need to be in a theme or child theme).
I’ll close up this thread for now, but I wish you the best of luck with your customizations!
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHi Keith,
I unfortunately cannot devote more time to assistance with customizations here; please see the “Product Support” section of this page for more information → http://theeventscalendar.com/terms
I have tried to be helpful a bit outside the scope of those terms nonetheless, but at this point I unfortunately have to leave the reins in your hands. I’m sorry about that.
Keep good backups of all custom code along the way for easy undoing of missteps; use Google liberally for anything you’re not sure about; and tinker around a bit. I’m sure you’ll be able to put together what you need!
I will now close this thread–if other questions ever arise that are under the umbrella of the “Product Support” we can provide (as defined in the Terms I linked you to earlier), please open a new thread any time.
Sincerely,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHi there,
Thank you for this information. It shows that you are using WooCommerce Tickets, version 3.12.1 on your site.
This whole time I have been referring to “the Event Tickets plugin”, which is NOT WooCommerce Tickets. This is our replacement plugin, “Event Tickets”. Apologies for the lack of clarity on this.
You will need to update to Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus before other steps can be taken here.
The change from “WooCommerce Tickets” is written about here: https://theeventscalendar.com/retiring-our-legacy-ticket-plugins/
And once you are ready to actually update to Event Tickets and Event Tickets Plus, you can read the following two articles for more information on the transition to these plugins:
• https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-to-event-tickets-plus/I hope this information helpful!
This change to Event Tickets Plus is a simple one, and to be clear, does not cost anything–you are a license-holder of WooCommerce Tickets so you will automatically have a free license for Event Tickets Plus in your account on this site → http://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys
If you don’t find such a license key, let me know!
Thank you for your patience here,

ParticipantSounds good, @john. Stay tuned to plugin updates over the coming year and beyond in case something like this ever arrives in the plugins! 🙂
Best of luck with your site,
GeorgeFebruary 5, 2016 at 4:30 pm in reply to: Custom CSS classes or other ways to feature events #1068581George
ParticipantHey Steve,
Thanks for the update. Your “featured event” idea is an interesting one…you should post it on tribe.uservoice.com, where other users can “vote up” ideas for features that they like.
We often incorporate features from that page, so it’s a great step to take towards making that idea a reality.
Best of luck with your customizing!
Cheers,
