ParticipantHi @Haye,
Are you downloading the files in the Safari web browser, by any chance? If so, this browser often will un-zip Zip files by default.
I would recommend trying to download in another browser, or using these steps to disable that auto-opening feature of Safari: https://wiki.umbc.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=31919091
I hope this helps!

ParticipantHey Janette,
Thanks for reaching out. I am sorry to disappoint, but the core question here is one we cannot help with:
we are trying to theme the calendar to match our current site but have no idea where to start.
Themeing the calendar, modifying site styles, designing things to look how you want—these are all things outside the scope of support we can provide. You can read more about this policy here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/what-support-is-provided-for-license-holders/
So, where to go from here? Well, for many of the style things you want to achieve, you can write custom CSS on your site. To write custom CSS on your site, definitely check out a [free!] tool like Firebug if you use FireFox, or the Developer Tools for either Safari or Chrome. They have “Inspector” tools that let you zoom right over the element whose styles you want to change, so you can see what specific changes to make. It’s a huge help.
If you don’t feel comfortable making such changes yourself, then your best bet is to hire a professional developer to write the code for you. We have a list of great developers here → http://m.tri.be/18k1 (and have no affiliation with any of these folks—they’re simply some well-respected names in the community that we’ve compiled to share in situations like this one).
Thank you,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey Matthias,
Thanks for reaching out!
From what you describe, you could possibly bend the features of our plugins to facilitate the things you describe—however, much customization would be required or at least much manual data-entry and manipulation of website content and such. Our plugins do not sound like a good fit.
I think a custom solution or some other plugin out there would do better—sorry to disappoint! Our plugins are built around the conceptual core element of “an event”—it sounds like you need a system for specifically tailored to the cable cars and shuttle cars.

ParticipantHey John,
Thanks for reaching out. The link you posted just leads me to the general page of feature requests, not a specific request. Can you share a link to the specific feature request you are referring to? I will investigate that specific request to see where things stand and better answer your query here.
Thank you!

ParticipantHey @globalbodyweighttraining,
Thanks for reaching out. What you describe is, unfortunately, about the best that can be done (modifying the order inside WooCommerce itself). Our plugins do not otherwise allow for the moving of folks from one Attendees List to another at this time. 🙁

ParticipantHey there,
You can perform a more “complete” transfer of content using WordPress’ built-in import/export tools. These tools generate and work with XML files and allow for the transfer of metadata, featured images, all of it.
This is a general WordPress thing, but we wrote up a simple guide here that should be handy → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-wordpress-export-tools-to-migrate-events-content/
Check that out and let me know if it helps!
(PS: If you are migrating Organizers and Venues too, be sure to migrate those over first before the Events that use them!)
Sincerely,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Ondrej!
Thanks for reaching out.
Our plugins only provide the “Additional Fields” feature for events, unfortunately—there is no such feature or way to add the feature for Organizers and Venues at this time.
Sincerely,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Teubl,
Thanks for writing in. Unfortunately, while you can definitely split events out of recurring series like you describe, you cannot then modify things so that only one event shows for the series. So, this is not possible:
BUT in photoview i merely want an overview of event 1, event 2, event 3, etc. And not see event 1A, event 1B etc.
Sorry to disappoint!
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey Paul,
Thanks for reaching out, and for your interest in our plugins!
I have a directory with many locations set up already, is there a way to use the directory location for the event locations? So when a user goes to add an event they need to then select from the already entered locations?
☝️ That is unfortunately not possible unless you import the locations from that other directory into your WordPress site as “Venues”. You can do this with the free version of The Events Calendar, no premium add-ons required, so I would recommend playing around with it firsthand to see if it suits your needs → https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/
From there is there a shortcode or a way to show events added to a specific location?
☝️ This is not possible by default, but is possible with some custom coding. There is also a small un-official, un-supported plugin that offers a shortcode like this if you have Events Calendar Pro running alongside The Events Calendar—you can check out this shortcode and the plugin here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/listing-venues-and-organizers/
Also, can users add events from front end?
☝️ Users can only do this if you have The Events Calendar and a premium add-on we make called “Community Events” installed on your site.
Cheers!

ParticipantHey Hans,
I appreciate the update. The things you describe about your site indeed seem to apply numerous other issues that are hindering The Events Calendar. This is definitely not normal behavior, for example:
I am still running on an old Divi theme version, since upgrading from that version causes the whole site to nearly crash/have to be rebuild entirely
If you cannot even update your theme because of the fragile broken state of the site, then a plugin like The Events Calendar will indeed have issues too! 🙁
I will close up this thread for now given all of that information you shared. If you resolve ALL of your other issues, get your site to the most recent WordPress version, most recent theme version, all of that—and still have problems with the event countdown widget—then go ahead and open a new thread here about this issue. We’ll take another look.
If you do this, please be sure to post your site’s “system information” with the thread. I linked to this article before, but just to do so again, here’s how to share that information → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/
Best of luck with your site!

ParticipantThanks for your input here, @globalbodyweighttraining. I am curious for a piece of information, if you don’t mind—you mentioned “Woo Tickets” numerous times in your post. To be absolutely clear, do you mean the add-on literally named “WooCommerce Tickets”? Or are you just referring to the pair of add-ons “Event Tickets” and “Event Tickets Plus” as “WooTickets”?
If the former, then unfortunately WooCommerce Tickets is a defunct, no-longer-supported plugin that will not work as desired. Now, there is an issue here with the correct plugins, “Event Tickets” and “Event Tickets Plus”, but these plugins are active and so are going to be fixed. WooCommerce Tickets is no longer active—these other two plugins are its replacement—so it will not be fixed with any issues that it has unless there is a key security-related aspect to the problem. (Which in this case there is not).
Sincerely,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantGlad to hear it! Thank you for the update.
Sincerely,

ParticipantThanks for the follow-up, Dan—best of luck with your customizing!

ParticipantHey Josh,
Thank you for your patience, and for offering the admin login on the staging site. I unfortunately don’t know how much that would help, because from within your admin there is not much I could do that would influence this behavior.
I have reviewed the reply from your web host and have shared it with our team; it unfortunately does not map to this issue and I am wondering why they reported those details.
Look at that query—an item of the post type “post” is being queried. Calendar feeds and archive pages for the events post type would not do this.
Perhaps that specific mixing-up of post types is the issue, but I cannot recreate that nor can I see any way that it would be possible unless there was a theme or plugin conflict—which you’ve already claimed to have tested for, though, to no avail.
To further complicate things, the category archive page you linked me to worked fine when I visited it.
So, under what circumstances does this become a 404? The intermittent nature of its being a 404 or not is a further wrinkle here, and a confusing one. Please describe how it goes from 404 to not-404, if possible:
1. is that change based on things you do from within the admin?
2. Is it seemingly random? Is it specific times of day?
3. Is it only specific categories? If so: which specific categories?Thank you so much for your continued patience and persistence with this issue—it is an odd one but we are determined to help resolve this.
Sincerely,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey @Kotris,
Thanks for reaching out!
It is unfortunately not possible alter the coloring of the map’s spots based on the event categories. 🙁
You might have some success by diving deep into the Google Maps JavaScript API and modifying the color of the markers, but trying to associate this to an event category and modifying it on a per-event basis is tricky.
I am sorry to disappoint! Please let me know if there is anything else I can try to help with.
Sincerely,
George -
