Need to migrate events from live site to staging site

I have been working on a redesign of a website on a staging server, and the pub has continued to create events on the live site. We’re getting ready to launch, so I need to migrate all the events from the live site to the new site on staging so I can then bring the staging site online and have the updated events information. How can I do this? All I’ve been able to find is iCal import/export, but that will not bring over pictures, additional text, etc.

Hey there,

You can perform a more “complete” transfer of content using WordPress’ built-in import/export tools. These tools generate and work with XML files and allow for the transfer of metadata, featured images, all of it.

(PS: If you are migrating Organizers and Venues too, be sure to migrate those over first before the Events that use them!)

Will that overwrite any identical events which were originally migrated when the staging site was created? I don’t want any duplicates, but the event history is important.

Overwriting will not happen—there will unfortunately be duplicates which would need to then be manually deleted. 🙁
