Hi there, Shawn! Thanks for reaching out and I’m glad you’re excited about upcoming updates to the Facebook Events importer. πŸ™‚

Good question and unfortunately the answer is no. Events that have already been imported will be automatically be skipped in the next import, so they will not update in WordPress even if the event information has changed.

I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for, but does it at least help shed light on your question? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

Hi there, Marco–thanks for getting in touch!

Good question. You can certainly do custom recurring patterns, but the frequencies are pretty locked in. For example, an event can occur Weekly on Mondays every 3 weeks for six months. However, you can’t change the pattern beyond that once it’s created.

We’ve started working on a more freeform way to create recurring patterns but don’t have a set timeframe for when it will be ready.

In the meantime, I think your best bet is to create a recurring event that repeats weekly on Mondays, then edit/delete the specific instances where they fall outside the pattern. You can edit each event individually once the series has been created, though editing an event will take it out of the series.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

    Hey there, Stephen!

First off, thanks for taking the step to test for theme conflicts. That really helps and I appreciate you taking that step. πŸ™‚

It’s tough to say exactly what would be causing it, especially because it looks like the site is currently in maintenance mode.

If I had to take a stab, the first thing I’d check is Javascript errors in the console. If things aren’t displayed correctly on first load, my hunch is that there is a JS conflict that is preventing the calendar’s ability to jump to the first event that goes away on a secondary load. Try opening the console in DevTools to see if anything jumps right out.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions as you dig in.

    Cheers!

Hi there, Paul–thanks for reaching out!

I’m having a bit of tough time following what you mean here. If I understand correctly, you have instances where the links in your Related Events section are linking to incorrect events posts. Is that correct?

First off, please try these troubleshooting steps to see if there is a conflict with your theme or one of the installed plugins.

Secondly, are you running the latest version of The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO? We’re currently at version 3.9.1. Please check and make sure both are running the same version.

Next, if links targeting incorrect events, it’s possible there is some issue with caching.Β Are you using a caching plugin by chance and are you able to clear it? What happens if you clear the cache, delete the events where the issue is coming coming up, and publish new events in their place? Does the issue happen then?

Also, if you can share a link where I can see the issue, that might help me troubleshoot this further with you.

Let’s give these a shot and go from there. πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

in reply to: Events search "near" limited list of known cities #943312

Hello Udo, thanks for getting in touch!

The important thing to note about the Search Near feature is that itΒ auto-suggests locations only if there some ambiguity to the query. For example, a search of Springfield will prompt a choice of locations since that could match multiple locations. On the flip side, searching forΒ Seattle will produce no suggestions because there is only one location with that name.

Another key thing to point out is that results are bound by a search distance limit that is specified inΒ Events > Settings > General. So, let’s say you try searching by location (whether it was auto-suggested or not), no results will display if there are no events within that defined radius.

All that to say that the feature does work as expected, even if locations are not suggested–those suggested locations are just more ambiguous than the ones that are not suggested. πŸ™‚

Hi there, Miranda! Sorry for the issue here, but I can help you out.

WooCommerce removed the styling for the quantity controls starting in version 2.3, which affects tickets in the WooTickets form. Here’s a post that explains why they chose to do that:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/no-more-quantity-selector-after-update

There is a plugin available that helps bring the controls back:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-quantity-increment/

Also, I notice that you are currently running WooTickets 3.9. We released an update just last week that helps solve some compatibility issues with WooCommerce 2.3–I’d suggest updating when you get a chance. πŸ™‚

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

in reply to: Duplicate All-Day Events When Importing CSV #943175

Hi there, Krystal–thanks for following up and providing the CSV file. Super helpful!

I was able to import events using the CSV file and everything seemed to work smoothly. All events were imported, the correct information was included, and no events were duplicated.

I am using the latest versions of The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO (both currently at 3.9.1) on a default WordPress theme (Twenty Fourteen) and no other plugins installed.

    This suggests that either:

    • There is a conflict with your theme or one of the other plugins that are activated
    • The Events Calendar, The Events Calendar PRO and Filter Bar need to be updated

upgrading isn’t really an option unless we try to upgrade it after hours and have a rollback plan in place.

I would suggest creating a new test site in a subdirectory, or perhaps on a subdomain. That would allow testing without any interruption to your existing site.

Essentially I would have to snapshot the system (database and the wordpress directory), try your suggestions, and replace the snapshot I took earlier.

Actually, if you go the route of creating a test site in a subdirectory or on a subdomain, you can start with a fresh WordPress installation, a clean database, and no other plugins installed. And again, the most important thing is that it would allow testing without interrupting the current site.

    Cheers!

Oh gosh, sorry about that–it looks like the code I provided got garbled when I published it. My apologies!

    It should be:

    echo ‘xmlns:ev=”http://purl.org/rss/2.0/modules/event/”‘;

Give that a try instead and sorry again about the mishap there. πŸ™‚

Hey there, Sean! Sorry this issue is coming up.

First off, nice work identifying the conflict is with the theme. That really helps and I appreciate you taking that step. πŸ™‚

I’ll do my best help, though it’s tough when the issue is on the theme side of things and it’s slightly outside the scope of support we provide here.

Do you happen to have Javascript minification enabled somewhere that adds the responsive menu scripts? I see a lot of inline scripts in the source code for the responsive menu and I’m wondering if that’s where the conflict is occurring. Is it possible to strip those out and see if there’s a difference?

    Cheers!

Hey JG, it’s been a while so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread.

I also want to let you know that a recent update to WooCommerce (2.3.x) has had an impact on the quantity controls for all WooCommerce products, including tickets. You can read more about that here, including some workarounds.
