The Events Calendar is creating duplicate events when I import my events CSV file. I’ve noticed it only happens for events I classify as all day events by placing “1” in the excel column. Please advise.

Hi there, Krystal! Welcome back to the forums and sorry you’re having some trouble with the importer.

Have you tried using “TRUE” and “FALSE” instead of 1 and 0 to indicate an all-day event in the CSV file? Try that, see if you notice a difference, then let me know what you find. 🙂

    Cheers!

Hi Krystal, thanks for following up and trying that out. Shoot, I thought that would do the trick.

I see you noted that you are using version 3.9 of The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO. Is it possible for you to update to the latest of each (currently at 3.9.1) to see if you notice a difference–still using true and false in place of 1 and 0.

Also, will you please try the steps outlined in our Testing for Conflicts Guide? We just need to rule out that the issue is related to a conflict with your theme or other installed plugins since I haven’t been able to replicate the issue.

Lastly, if you wouldn’t mind sending me a link to a copy of the CSV file you’re using (in a private reply is fine), then I can try testing with the same data you’re using.

    Thanks!

    Geoff,

I’m checking with my development team to see if we can update the plugin. We have some custom features built into the calendar so I want to check before I update. I will also ask if they can check if it is an issue with the theme or another plugin.

Also, I don’t mind sending you the copy of the CSV file. This may be a stupid question, but how do I attach it in a private reply?

Great, thanks for following up! Hopefully the update and testing for conflicts will help shed some light on things.

Dropbox might be the easiest way to send the file. Upload the file, then you can send the link in a private reply.

    Cheers!

Hi there, Krystal–thanks for following up and providing the CSV file. Super helpful!

I was able to import events using the CSV file and everything seemed to work smoothly. All events were imported, the correct information was included, and no events were duplicated.

I am using the latest versions of The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar PRO (both currently at 3.9.1) on a default WordPress theme (Twenty Fourteen) and no other plugins installed.

    This suggests that either:

    • There is a conflict with your theme or one of the other plugins that are activated
    • The Events Calendar, The Events Calendar PRO and Filter Bar need to be updated

upgrading isn’t really an option unless we try to upgrade it after hours and have a rollback plan in place.

I would suggest creating a new test site in a subdirectory, or perhaps on a subdomain. That would allow testing without any interruption to your existing site.

Essentially I would have to snapshot the system (database and the wordpress directory), try your suggestions, and replace the snapshot I took earlier.

Actually, if you go the route of creating a test site in a subdirectory or on a subdomain, you can start with a fresh WordPress installation, a clean database, and no other plugins installed. And again, the most important thing is that it would allow testing without interrupting the current site.

    Cheers!

Hello Krystal! This thread has been quiet for a couple of weeks, so I’m going to go ahead and close it. Please feel free to open a new one if any other questions come up and we’d be happy to help. 🙂

    Cheers!
