I’m afraid I’m not familiar with Name Your Price – but what is it that you want to happen? Do you want tickets to be “immune” from that plugin’s effects, or is it that you want it to work with it but it isn’t meshing nicely?

    Hi!

For the first issue, please go ahead and checkout our Themer’s Guide and Technical Docs (links over in Useful Resources on the right) – you pretty much have complete freedom to customize and are really limited only by your imagination 🙂

Currently the same widget displays the date/time and date posted.

That shouldn’t happen, of course – I did visit your site but couldn’t see an example: can you share a URL that will let me see this problem?

Also the link to the event posted doesn’t seem to be working.

Again, that shouldn’t happen. But please also try flushing your permalinks (simply visit Settings > Permalinks – you don’t need to adjust anything) and also try our standard troubleshooting steps: deactivate all non Modern Tribe plugins and revert to a default theme such as Twenty Twelve (and see if that resolves this).

Lastly, this is a non-widget related question. Why does my site display differently in your site’s URL (www.zavas.ca) where it’s supposed to be (www.za-vas.ca)

I’m not too clear about this one. Where do you see it written as http://www.zavas.ca?

The number of events that are displayed below the calendar can be changed just by editing the widget: http://d.pr/i/11SH

However, there seems to be a bug which I’ll report and should hopefully be fixed fairly quickly where setting that number to 0 isn’t respected (though other values such as 1 are).

    Hi Mike:

Thanks for contacting us and sorry to hear that problems have cropped up here.

1: for some reason, when I go to the calendar view, it says “Events for July 2013 Page not found”. Why is this and how do I fix it?

There are a couple of things to check – one is that the events slug has not inadvertently reset itself when the update took place. To determine this, could you login to your site and visit Events > Settings > General and check the value of the Events and Single Events URL slugs?

If you need to correct them please do, otherwise you should then visit your WordPress settings at Settings > Permalinks … visiting this page (you need not change or save anything) is enough to flush the permalink rules and that may be helpful here.

2: I’m having Javascript issues and I can’t do certain things in the backend, like upload an image for a ticket header. The button just doesn’t do anything. Chrome’s error console just says “Uncaught ReferenceError: ticketHeaderImage is not defined “. Any thoughts?

That’s not something I can replicate; I do appreciate you tried switching back to a default theme and deactivating other plugins – did that not yield anything here? It does sound like a potential conflict.

If you could check out the above and let me know if it helps or if you need further assistance that would be great.

Our plugin will not function as expected when default permalinks are in use – so that’s a good idea but isn’t going to help or at least will cause a different set of issues to surface.

I appreciate you taking the time to narrow this down to your theme, but, can I just check that you also tried deactivating all other (non-Modern Tribe) plugins with your current theme activated, just in case the conflict goes one level deeper and is actually because of something else?

Hi Christopher – that doesn’t sound good. Can you tell me what the exact message is – does it only occur when you try to access Events > Settings or are other admin screens also affected.

Last but not least, have you updated both Events Calendar PRO and The Events Calendar so that they are both running version 3.x?

    Hi Rob, hi Charlie.

Please accept our apologies first of all for the disruption and inconvenience this has caused. 3.0 is a major upgrade and introduces some great new stuff, however there are going to be some unforeseen issues like this one that we’ll need to work through.

Would either of you be able to share a recent copy of Canvas? If so, can you make it available as a downloadable .zip (whether via a service such as droplr.com or by uploading the zip file through your site’s media library) and share the link as a private message?

    That would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi copthall,

Please accept the team’s apologies if the latest upgrade has caused some disruption and frustration – that definitely isn’t what we wanted, but let’s focus now on righting things.

Andy’s advice is sound – template overrides should now live in {YOUR_THEME}/tribe-events/… rather than {YOUR_THEME}/events/… – however you should also know that:

    * A custom stylesheet, which would previously be named events.css, now needs to be named tribe-events.css
    * Do be aware that there have been significant changes to our template structure – so some CSS rules may not cleanly carry over and may require some amount of tweaking

If there is anything else we can help with on this front please just let us know (and indeed if any non-themeing issues crop up and cause problems for you please break them out into threads of their own to avoid confusion – one of the team will then be more than happy to help).

    Thanks!

    Hi Lorrie,

You’re obviously frustrated and that is completely understandable – when a considerable investment of time, money and effort has been poured into building a website then problems such as you have described are bound to be upsetting.

However, that definitely isn’t the experience we want for our users and we do work hard – a huge amount of preparation went into this release, for instance – to make things as smooth as possible. Unfortunately, even with the best will in the world, problems with software can, do and probably always will crop up.

Although we’re sad to hear that we’ve lost a sale we are still happy to help if indeed you are interested in working through this and want to give The Events Calendar another chance. Here’s how:

    * Since you are using only our free product the best place to seek technical support is our wordpress.org support forum. We also encourage you to post your problems openly as others can then see them and A) benefit from any subsequent answers B) may be able to pitch in with an answer of their own.

    * The new default number of events per grid cell (in month view) exists in response to customer feedback from our previous releases, where a huge number of events per day could “distort” the layout of the grid. It may not be desirable in your case, however, and I’m pretty sure it can be fairly easily overriden – so that would probably merit a thread of its own (when and if you do post for help). Please also note that we are already planning to add a setting to offer easier control over this.

    * I’m not absolutely clear on what you mean when you say that our plugin automatically merged your events and ate a good portion of your calendar – unless you are again referring to the 3 posts-per-cell (which exists only in month view) – but if this is indeed a new and different problem then again please create a new thread over on our wordpress.org support forum and ideally provide a URL or a point-by-point example to help the team help you.

I do hope you will give our plugin another shot and look forward to working with you if you do.

Thanks – and once again please accept our apologies for any confusion or disruption.

Well, as it turns out my colleagues have mostly rolled it out already. Our revised-for-3.0 themer’s guide for instance is already accessible:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/

If you take a look in there you will see that it also covers which files relate to the new 3.0 widgets.

Right, in that case then you probably are wanting to use the Featured Image tool rather than Add Media. That will let you associate an image with the event rather than simply inserting an image in the description.

    Does that help?

OK. Right now that isn’t possible with WooTickets – at least not without diving into some custom coding. We’re definitely open to feedback though and it could be worth posting this on our UserVoice page:

    Hi Lyne,

Sorry for the confusion first of all.

We’re definitely open to feedback on the new forum, either here or ideally via UserVoice:

    https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas

Also, I am defaulting a City and it does not appear on the form- it stays blank???

Is this in relation to Community Events – if so could you post a new thread over in the Community Events forum?

    Community Events

and the Event calendar widget is there a way for when you click that it goes to the calendar rather than show a list of daily events below the widget-takes too much room on the page.

It is indeed possible to customize the widget and we’re actually in the process of updating our docs and FAQs to contain the relevant guides.

Great! In that case since I think everyone is good here for the time being I will go ahead and close this thread.

    Thanks all 🙂
