Ah, thanks for the follow-up, Scott — bummer to hear about the MySQL issue. Not sure how this one slipped through the cracks (I saw that I said I’d get a dev to respond, but none ever did)…so I apologize for that. Glad to hear that for our part on the calendar side, though, there wasn’t a bug or something that needed fixing.

If you have any other calendar-related issues going forward, let me know and I’ll do what I can to assist. Have a great weekend.

Hey Dennis. Thanks for the note and sorry to hear you’re having issues. Any chance you could share a link? This should happen by default; if you’ve got an event in the tooltip, it should appear therein. The link should also appear in the date box without need to hover.

It could also be a conflict with the theme or another plugin (I’d suggest disabling both to test). But a link would be the first step in helping us help you. Thanks in advance!

Hey Frank. Thanks for the heads up. Let me see if Jonah has any suggestions for third-party apps that may do this. As for the Failed import; that’s odd, as I didn’t think we were using the sp_ tag at all. It’s possible that never got changed in the code and if so we’ll of course get it patched up so this doesn’t occur down the road.

Sam: thanks for the heads up here. So are you saying that it doesn’t happen under any circumstances other than when you add that code to enable Contributors? On our end, at the least, we’ll make sure to enable contributors to post recurrence for a future release. Please confirm that I’m correct about the first point though.

Eric: Thanks for the heads up. At least that’ll work. If it returns, can you let us know (and see if you can whether there were any similarities between that and the one that initially gave you problems)?

Benjamin: It’ll be tough to diagnose if we cannot disable the theme, but let’s go off what Sam noted first. Are you saying that you only have this problem after modifying the code to allow for Contributors too? We’re trying to get this resolved and of course will do so as quickly as possible, but I’m sure you understand that we’re a small team with only so much dev bandwidth. Hopefully Eric’s suggestion can work in the short-term.

GInny: You raise a good point. To everyone on the thread here, I’d definitely suggest upgrading to make sure your releases are consistent before trying anything else. You’re bound to have problems if they aren’t.

Let me know what else I can do, and we’ll keep working at this. Thanks all!

I feel your pain there, Seth. A few folks have brought up this point before and I’m adding yours to our open ticket on it, to show there’s still demand. Even though this would require some reworking of how recurrence operates, I suspect we’ll work it in eventually due to the practicality of it. Sorry I couldn’t offer up more in the short-term.

Thanks for confirming, guys. We’re looking into this now and either Joey or myself will update this thread just as soon as we know more. I apologize for the inconvenience so far.

Hey James. Thanks for the heads up there; that’s a weird issue that I don’t recall seeing yet. Any chance you have another plugin running that could be conflicting? It may be the theme (and I may be able to get a dev to provide some guidance on how to fix it if so), but I’d try deactivating your other plugins first in case one of them is the culprit. Similarly, does the grid show after changing to a different template under Settings -> The Events Calendar, or is this consistent across all templates?

Let me know and we’ll do what we can from there. Thanks!

Hey Suzanne, where did you add this specifically?

That’s a really good suggestion, Tony – I suspect there is a way to create your own event template (it’d likely be done on the theme side) but how to do it is a bit outside my area of expertise. Let me get one of our more advanced devs to see what they can offer up.

Thanks Marc. I’m pretty sure I get it: featured image and website field are still problematic, right? Let me see what Jonah can suggest on those. I know the list item was the most difficult of the two for us to diagnose, and since you’re still having problems, we’ll do what we can to help with the other items.

No problem, Nakturnal. I’ll get Joey to take a look at your code and see if he can identify what’s up next pass he does on the forums. Have a great weekend.

Thanks for the follow-up, Nakturnal – and for the words. Happy to do what we can, when we can 🙂 So are you saying that the 2.0.3 update fixed the issue that originally happened? And that this other one has emerged in its place? Let me know and I can get someone to respond as needed.

If you need Jonah to take another look at the second point, just let me know and I’ll give him a heads up.

Hey Mike. I’m pretty sure this is a problem we’ve identified with the code based on a few users reports over the past couple weeks (which we’ve got a fix in the works for our 2.1 release), let me get a dev to double check just to be sure.

Hi Mike. Thanks for the suggestion here. We have a feature along these lines in the works to eventually be added to grid view (where users can filter down by category using a dropdown), but until then it has to be done manually — ie linking to the categories specifically.

That being said, let me see if our dev Jonah has any suggestions for you or examples in the interim. I’ll have him chime in directly.

Hey Mike. Thanks for the heads up. This raises a good point. Were you looking for something along the lines of loop examples or template tags? Have you checked out our Documentation page ( https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation ), which we just updated with some more materials today? Let me know if that’s not what you had in mind…we’re definitely looking to build out our docs based on what folks want, so we’re all ears 🙂
