    Hey Carl,

Any closing thoughts on this matter? I’m sorry for some of the limitations in functionality that exist here, but hopefully the information and ideas that I shared, and that Richard shared above, can help you have some sort of workable solution on your site.

Is that the case? Let us know, and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns here as well.

    Thank you,
    George

    Hey Richard,

Thanks for your input here. As for your question:

Would it be possible to add support for ‘sales’ on tickets?

It would indeed be possible and may come as a feature in the future, though I can’t promise this or any specific launch date and such.

    Sorry for any disappointment there!

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey Chris,

Do you notice any similarities with your problems to the ones that Ian described here?

Do you have any special/odd characters, or non-UTF-8 entities in your import file? And if so, does removing them and then running the imports again change any of the behavior?

    Thanks,
    George

    Hi @doeanderson,

The things you mentioned are quite different than what Stephane mentioned, although I’m glad you were able to find the source of that conflict on your site.

Stephane, do you have any thoughts on my original response to you here?

To clarify, the data-day attributes are not problematic things, or HTML-invalid or anything like that.

Let us know if you have any feedback on this or other questions or concerns.

    Thanks!

    Hi Shah,

I’m sorry your theme was causing problems on your site, but am glad you at least found that out early now before making your site live!

I don’t have many specific theme recommendations, but the main thing to look out for is just good code quality. Here are some places with generally sound code:

    • The free themes repository at http://wordpress.org/themes
    • Array Themes at http://array.is
    • Rescue Themes at https://rescuethemes.com/
    • WooThemes at http://woothemes.com

I’ll close up this issue for now since we were able to boil the problem down to your active theme, but if other issues or questions arise, come back and open a new thread any time!

    Cheers,
    George

Nice! Since the rest of this process is a customization from here on out, I’ll go ahead and close up this ticket. If other issues arise on your site, or any other questions pop into your mind, let us know – come back and open up a new thread any time.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi Paul,

I swear I added the link to the Gist I wanted to share with you to that post! I’m sorry, but for whatever reason it isn’t there.

The code I suggest you add to your functions.php file is in this Gist → https://gist.github.com/momnt/bee78fe1eb8c14e4cc60

    I hope that helps!

Thanks for the update and for your patience here Christopher, I’m sure with our combined attention and George-based nomenclature we’ll figure this out! 🙂

Not to obsess over small details, but you mention disabling and then purging the Dynamic Page Cache in your WP Engine options – do you also happen to notice similar options for the Object/Transient Cache? If so, does disabling & purging this cache make any difference here?

That may seem like minutiae but there’s actually some meaningful differences between the Cache types, so this is a worthwhile test for sure.

Let us know what you find, and if you’ve heard anything from your WordPress team.

Thanks again for your patience here Christopher!

    Hey Shah,

These errors don’t seem to be particularly related to The Events Calendar or to Community Events, but the good news is that they’re all just PHP “Notices” – so, not quite errors in full, which means that these Notices will not actually break things, but just that they’re not following certain rules or that the code causing them is missing some simple things.

Your questions about having a multi-author blog and handling user registrations is also not related to The Events Calendar or Community Events, but if you’re concerned about these PHP notices, the only test I can think of would be to run through our full set of troubleshooting steps here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

Check on the errors after each plugin/theme deactivation, and see if the errors remain or go away.

Let us know what you find!

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey Patrick!

Thanks for clarifying your goals here – unfortunately, what you’re aiming to do would require custom coding. We do not offer support for custom code here, but there are great resources online that should help you put something together here.

The main thing you need to do here is add meta fields to the Venues taxonomy – a meta field for “has food”, “No kitchen”, etc.

Search around online for ways to do this within WordPress, there are many resources. This article, for example, is particularly well put-together: https://pippinsplugins.com/adding-custom-meta-fields-to-taxonomies/

    Hey Ian,

Thanks for the elaboration on your issues here – opening another thread may be necessary in a bit, but for now, can you clarify if simply removing your special characters resolves all of the bad behavior you mention here?

What effect, if any, does removing those special characters seem to have here?

    Thank you!
    George

    Hey Laura,

Thanks for the update. I’m curious if you can proceed with the full set of troubleshooting steps we have outlined here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

After each step, can you log out of your site and try making an anonymous submission on your Community Events submission form again?

If so, note if any behavior changes after any step of that troubleshooting process, and let us know what you find!

    Thank you,
    George
