    Hey Gerry,

    Thank you for buying a license! I’m sorry that your reward for that thus far has been the gray box where a map should be…

    I checked out the link you provided and noticed a few JavaScript errors, which can definitely – and usually do – cause this sort of behavior with the empty gray box.

    Can you try deactivating a plugin on your site called “Ubermenu” or something like that, and then check out the Map View and see if anything changes?

    If not, I’d encourage you to run through the rest of the steps outlined here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/ (Though, to be clear, if deactivating Ubermenu resolves this, no need to continue with all these steps! 🙂 )

    Those steps may seem tedious but are pretty quick to work through – and this process will help us reveal or rule out potential theme or plugin conflicts.

    Let us know what you find!

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey @lukevw22,

    When you say that you “also” have the same issue with the View As menu, do you mean that you saw another recent thread here on the forums with the same issue? If so, can you share a link to that thread?

    As for your site’s specific issues – this turned out to be harder to fix than I expected. I’ve been checking out your site and spent several minutes trying all the usual CSS tricks to fix something like this sort of layout issue, without luck 🙁

    It’s possible that this isn’t even a CSS issue, at its core – your theme’s Markup could have inconsistencies or JavaScript conflicts, I doubt this latter thing but it is a remote possibility.

    I’m curious – have you seen your site in a default theme like Twenty Twelve? If so, how did things behave? If not, any chance you could activate a theme like this on your site quickly, then check out this “View As” menu issue in that theme, and see how things look?

    If we can confirm that the issue is coming from your theme, then we can at least get you to contact their support team in the meantime while we look at this too, so there’d be two sets of eyes on this trying to fix it instead of just mine 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hey Christoph,

    I’m sorry to hear about this issue – this may seem like a very weird question, but I’m just curious, if you use another “named” timezone like “Berlin” or “New York” or something, does it fail to work regardless of the location?

    Or does any named timezone produce problems with the wrong time being used?

    If you test this out, it’ll reveal whether this is a problem with just the Berlin timezone or with using “Named” timezones in general versus using the numerical ones like “UTC +2”

    I’m glad that UTC +2 works for you for now, hopefully we can figure out a way to get “Berlin” working because named timezones do work for me currently.

    Thank you!

    Hey Nami,

    Nice, I’m glad the notice is gone! As for how/why it originally arose…hm…it is indeed possible that if one thing was updated before another, an outdated file was being referenced and now the correct file is being referenced.

    Either way – best of luck with your site going forward. Open a new thread on these forums any time you have any other problems or concerns.

    Cheers!

    Cool, best of luck with your migrations Gabriel.

    As for you Paul, I hit upon the key points of your question here so I will close up this thread just to keep things organized – but if you have ANY other questions or concerns don’t hesitate to open up a new thread on these forums – share a link back to this thread if you need to refer to it.

    Hey Houman,

    If you go to http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/license-keys, is your site listed there?

    If so, disconnect it with the “Disconnect Now” link – then try saving the license key on your site again, and see if it helps at all.

    This process may help.

    Let me know what you find!

    Thanks,
    George

    Hey Ann,

    I’m sorry that you’re feeling overwhelmed here, these issues can be caused by many different things so I agree that it is a bit of a pain at first to troubleshoot these problems but there are unfortunately not many alternative routes of trying to fix the problems 🙁

    And unfortunately, no, upgrading licenses does not upgrade response time or something – it just gets you support and updates for more web sites.

    I’m glad you can access the events on the back-end at least, that’s a start in the right direction. If things work there but not on the front-end, however, it’s very likely that there is a theme or plugin conflict, which means the best steps to go through are the ones outlined here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/

    These may seem tedious but are actually much faster to work through than it might seem. And these steps are incredibly helpful for troubleshooting issues like this.

    Let us know if you can run through these problems and, if so, what you find.

    Thank you for your patience here,
    George

    Thanks for clarifying this Matt!

    It seems after the upgrade the text between the // is missing. Before the upgrade each event had an unique permalink based on the title.

    This is a bizarre issue that I unfortunately have never encountered. There are few possible things I can think of that could cause this, but for now, can you first share your system information with us? Here’s a knowledgebase article that shows how to copy and paste that system information into a reply here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

    Thanks for your patience here, I’m sorry your site produced this issue but hopefully we can figure out the culprit.

    Hey Tom,

    To address things in reverse order, you can find all the official add-ons right here on http://theeventscalendar.com – explore the products and check out their product pages for more info!

    Next, you write this:

    I assume old events must be deleted.

    I’m not sure what you mean, but no, in general you don’t have to delete events from something to install The Events Calendar unless you find them to conflict with The Events Calendar or something.

    Finally:

    Is there a method to use a form rather than showing an email address.

    What do you mean by this?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your understanding @Th, and for your patience about the forthcoming fix. Stay tuned – good things come to those who wait!

    Just hopefully it won’t be a long wait 😉

    We’re working diligently on this and have some major fixes coming down the pipeline.

    Cheers!

    in reply to: Calendar and HTML5Maker banners conflict? #996737

    Hey @vancouverfamily, thanks for investigating these things. I’m curious – why did you make that dynamic_sidebar() code in your theme look like this:

    <?php if ( ! dynamic_sidebar( 'Top Banner Advertisement' )) : endif; ?>

    If you need that sidebar to be there, you’d need some code like this:

    <?php

    if ( dynamic_sidebar( 'Top Banner Advertisement' ) ) {
    dynamic_sidebar( 'Top Banner Advertisement' );
    }

    ?>

    If you don’t want anything to be there, you should remove the PHP code altogether. Your current code basically says “If there is no dynamic sidebar for “Top Banner Advertisement”, then display nothing”.

    That could be problematic here…just an idea!

    Definitely contact your other plugin developer and see if progress can be made here. I should underscore the fact that we can’t support custom code or third-party plugins, however, so even if they give a lengthy response there may be little that we can help with, per se…

    Apologies for the disclaimers 🙂 Just want to keep expectations reasonable and such, but please do keep us posted on this and let us know what you learn.

    Cheers,
    George

    I’m sorry to hear that some problems are persisting John – the issues are a bit odd, because if the “phone home” part works fine, but the keys aren’t saving, then there’s usually just a code conflict causing the failure of the option to save…

    But you already tested for that, with no luck, so we’re not left with many other possible culprits here. I’m struggling to think of what could cause this.

    I suppose you could give one last try at going to http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/license-keys and using “Disconnect Now” on the site where your license is registered, then disconnect it, go back to your site, and try saving the key again…

    May not help, but there are unfortunately no other moves at this time that I can think of. 🙁

    I’m sorry about that John. Your patience here has been greatly appreciated it.
