MemberHi Karly, thanks for following up!
I don’t have a solid copy of 4.0 to share just yet, but have you at least signed up to be a beta tester? We’re expecting to kick that off soon–well ahead of release–which would give you early access when we do have something available to pass out.

MemberGotcha, thanks for clarifying!
We do actually have a tutorial specifically for creating custom recurring events. Check it out because I think you’ll find it useful.
Cheers!

MemberHmm, i’m not getting the same fatal error when using the snippet. Let’s try this again with exactly what needs to be pasted in:

Please give that a shot and let me know if it makes a difference.
Thanks and sorry for the back-and-forth here!

MemberHello Shaun,
Good question. WooCommerce Tickets and Events Calendar PRO are two separate plugins, each with their own features. You can certainly use WooCommerce Tickets without Events Calendar PRO and use it with the free The Events Calendar plugin instead.
If you do want PRO’s features in addition to selling tickets, then you will indeed need to purchase it separately.
Does this help clarify things a bit? Please let me know and thanks for checking out the plugins!

MemberRight on, thanks!
Do note that the opening PHP tag is probably not needed in your file. 🙂
Geoff
MemberAck, sorry about that! Looks like our site is having a little bit of an issue with embedding Gists at the moment.
Let’s try that again:

MemberHi Tim,
Thanks for getting in touch!
We do indeed have custom recurrence patterns as a feature in Events Calendar PRO. You can build patterns that exclude specific dates, weeks, months, and even years. It’s pretty flexible and sounds like it will fit what you’re looking for. If it doesn’t for some reason, we do offer a full refund on all purchases within 30 days and would be happy to take it back if something isn’t working as you’d expect.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberHello Etienne,
I see what you mean–I just tried submitting and event on your site and got a 503 error.
I see the following errors in the console when inspecting the site:
Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user’s experience. For more help, check http://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/.
Given URL is not allowed by the Application configuration: One or more of the given URLs is not allowed by the App’s settings. Â It must match the Website URL or Canvas URL, or the domain must be a subdomain of one of the App’s domains.
It would not pinpoint the error, but I have a feeling it’s server related, as most 503 errors are.
Just to cover all our bases, will you please try the steps outlined in this guide? It will help us determine if there are any conflicts between the plugin and your theme or perhaps another installed plugin. It would also be awesome if you could go to Events > Settings > Help, scroll to the bottom of the screen, copy your system information and paste it here as a private reply.
Let’s start here and see what we find. 🙂
Thanks!

MemberHey Darrell,
Shoot, that’s not good at all! Very strange that it would happen on your live site but not the development one.
Is there something different about the configuration (or what is installed) on the live site from the development site? I do see a number of plugins noted in your system information–are all of those installed on the development site as well and, if so, configured similarly?
My hunch is that there is some sort of caching happening–whether it’s from the settings of a caching plugin, the theme, or possibly even the server. But, let’s try to see what the difference is between those two environments before we go there.
Also, will you please try the steps outlined in this guide? This doesn’t look like a classic 404 error, Â but they would be handy nonetheless to make sure we’re covering our bases.
Thanks!

MemberHello Kay,
Thanks for getting in touch and sorry for the trouble here!
Do you happen to have a link where I can see the issue? The search by date functionality appears to work correctly on my own test site, but perhaps it would be helpful to see the issue in action on your site.
Also, will you please follow the steps outlined in this guide and let me know the results? This will help determine if there is a conflict at play and, if so, where it is.
Let’s start here and see what we find. 🙂
Thanks!

MemberHi Tony,
You may be able to use the steps outlined in this tutorial here to make the Organizer an non-required field. This is the closest thing I have to a possible solution at the moment while we work on a patch.
Thanks for your patience while we try to figure this out!

MemberHi Alex and good morning!
I went ahead and downloaded the ics file that’s being used to import the events. When I did, I looked specifically for the “Labour Day No School” event because it seems to be one of the events that should appear on one day but actually displays everywhere.
Turns out there are two instances of that event in the file. That’s fine and not alarming to me at all. However, what is interesting is the “Date Created” stamp on the event:
CREATED:19000101T120000ZThat basically means the event is somehow registered as having been created on Jan. 1, 1900 at 12:oo am. That’s really weird.
What I’d like to try setting up a fresh test site in a new directory. This will allow us to start with a clean slate. Basically, what we’ll do is start with a fresh WordPress installation on a default WordPress theme, then try to pinpoint exactly where the issue is introduced to see if it’s a bug with the plugin or a conflict with something else.
- Please install a fresh copy of WordPress in a subdirectory (if you have a cPanel-type hosting account there will probably be a one-click install to make this easy)
- Don’t install anything except the fresh versions of The Events Calendar and iCal Imoprter)
- Please also stick to a default theme, like Twenty Thirteen–there’s no need to install anything else just yet!
- Import events from the iCal feel–starting from 10/1 on.
Do you see the issue now on the test site? It would be awesome if you could stop and let us know so we can take a look while the site is still running under these default conditions.
Please give these steps a shot and let me know what you find. Thanks again for working with me–I really hope this gets us closer to figuring this thing out!
Cheers!

MemberHello @bloom360! Thanks a ton for updating the plugins and for providing the additional information–that help a lot and I appreciate it. 🙂
It looks like the system information recognizes the “latest” date in the calendar as Dec. 28, 2015, at 11:59pm. Do you have a link to an event that is later than that you could link me to? That would be helpful.
One other thing I notice is that you have WordPress 3.9.3 installed. Is it at all possible to update WordPress, or is that not a possibility for you? Totally understand if it’s not.
Either way, it would be worth testing to see if an updated version of WordPress solves the issue. Before we go that route, will you please try the steps outlined in this guide? It will help us determine if there are any conflicts with the theme or any other plugins before we start looking at the WordPress level.
If we do need to test things at the WordPress level and are unable to update WordPress on your live site, do you happen to have a test site where we do that?
@mlcmm–thanks for chiming in here! Glad to see you were able to resolve the issue on your own there. There is no way to “fast forward” the calendar when there are no events in the future, but your idea of putting a dummy event in there would certainly do the trick. Please feel free to open up a new thread if you have additional questions about that and we’d be happy to help you there. 🙂Cheers!
