    Thanks for following up, Tony!

That’s a great idea — would you be willing to add your vote for that in our feature request forum? I see it’s come up before and it looks like it could use some more votes.

    Thanks!

    Hi @fxidesigns,

I head up support here at Modern Tribe and wanted to reach out to you directly because you raise a number of concerns here that are very worth addressing.

First off, it’s very clear that we’ve failed to meet your expectations here in both the quality our products and the level of support you’ve received to address it. We take a lot of pride in quality and support and make every effort to excel in both areas, so hearing this feedback is a real bummer and obviously tough to swallow, though I appreciate you bringing it up.

That said, I want to look at the three issues you noted here.

    1. Originally iCal imported events were all duplicated.

Is this the same issue you reported in this thread? Looking at that thread, I see it was active as recently as Tuesday and that Josh’s snippet seemed to help after some database optimization. Is that still the case, or has the issue cropped back up?

    2. Then I had issues with TZ problems. I seem to have worked through this by using a city instead of the actual GMT Offset

I’m really glad this one seems to be working out — and it looks like Nico has been helping you out on this issue. Still, the plugin should not have required you to take such a step, so there clearly appears to be a bug and I see there are tickets in our system to address it. I’ve reached out to Nico to continue helping you in the other thread and we’ll continue to dig into the heart of the issue so we can release an official patch for it in an upcoming release.

    3. Now I am having a bug between the calendar view and the list view.

I see exactly what you mean. It looks like there are indeed 5 events published for Feb. 5 but the Day View completely ignores the three all-day events that are scheduled for that day.

I’ve tried testing this on my site using the standard Twenty Sixteen theme but things seemed to work. Here’s the calendar showing there are five total events on the day and the day view that shows all five events. I attempted to recreate the same timezone settings from your system information and was unable to recreate the issue that way as well. Not saying this isn’t an issue, but we’ll need to do some more troubleshooting to pinpoint what’s happening. I see you tried deactivating other plugins and switching to a default theme — did that make any difference? If not, perhaps you would be willing to share a copy of your database and I’d be happy to do more digging as well.

Again, my apologies for the frustrations. I do hope this helps move things forward so we can move toward resolving these issues and doing right by you.

    Thanks,
    Geoff

Hi Cristina and sorry for the trouble!

Yes, we have seen this issue come up in the past and it’s typically related to the amount of memory a server allocated to PHP. Based on the title of this thread, it sounds like you’ve tried to allocate more memory yourself with no luck, but have you reached out to your host, by chance? Some hosts will not allow you to modify that amount on your own and require you call in to make that sort of change.

Let’s start there and see what we find.

    Thanks!

Interesting question, Chris! I’m afraid the best way to go about it is exactly the way you;re doing it — short of actually performing a full refund and processing a new transaction.

Sorry for the bad news, but does this at least help answer your question? Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Geoff

    Hello Christian,

    Good questions!

    1. Is it possible to have an Event that is more than one day long in length? We will be selling retreats that are 3/4 days.

Absolutely. Events can span as many days as you would like.

    2. Is it possible to have variable prices for an Event?

Yes, in the sense that you can create as many types of tickets for an event as you would like and set the prices for each one. So, a three-day ticket can be one price and a four-day ticket can be another price. I would imagine that you would set each retreat up as a separate event on the calendar and create one ticket for each event so the events are distinguished on the calendar, though you could combine both into the same event post and create both tickets in that post as well.

Here’s a good overview of how tickets work with the Event Tickets Plus add-on you might find helpful.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂

    Cheers!

Hey there! Thanks for reaching out and checking out the plugins. 🙂

The Events Calendar is very extensive as far as being able to modify views and create your own. I will say though that the layout you’re describing does sound like it would take a fair amount of custom development to accomplish. Not impossible, for sure, but definitely some lifting and custom code would be needed. I would suggest starting with the free version of The Events Calendar, reading through our Themer’s Guide and documentation, and see if you will have enough to make the layout you need.

The Community(?) option is also an attractive option. Ideally, it would be nice for clients to update the events, without having to know anything about WordPress.

For sure! Community Events is perfect for that because all the event submissions come from the front end of the website rather than having to log in and navigate through WordPress.

I honestly do not think you will need to purchase Events Calendar PRO to get started. The free version can be customized to suit your needs and then Community Events can be added on top of that, should you decide that front-end submissions would be handy.

Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know. 🙂

    Cheers!
