ParticipantI would like to delete past events automatically in TEC-pro. We provide entertainment listings for a region and have upwards of 3,000 events listed at any one time. Manually deleting those past events is time consuming. I read elsewhere that others feel the need for such a facility but cannot find the free plugin referred to as “The Events Calendar Housekeeper”.
Can you tell if the Housekeeper plugin is still available or if there are plans to add the feature in future releases?

MemberHi Tony and welcome back!
Good question. No plans to bring Housekeeper back at this point, but there are good plugins that will add auto-expiration features to events that I’d suggest checking out. I’ve tested this one and it seems to do the trick quite well.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

ParticipantThank you Geoff, I’ve now had a chance to try this and whilst it does delete expired posts it does so by adding an addition field which I would need to populate for the plugin to do what I am trying to achieve.
What I am trying to achieve is to automatically delete events based on their end date or 24 hours after their start date if start/end are the same. To have to add an additional expiration date to an event that already has an end date is not acceptable, not with the volume of events we are handling, sorry.
Whilst I can work around the issue with the core Events Calendar, the ability to delete past events would make an already great product even better.

MemberThanks for following up, Tony!
That’s a great idea — would you be willing to add your vote for that in our feature request forum? I see it’s come up before and it looks like it could use some more votes.
Thanks!

ParticipantNo Geoff, the link you provided was to “Hide past events”, I actually want to delete them to keep the size of may database manageable. I’m adding over 1,000 events per month and don’t want to get to December and find I have a database of 11,000 useless events and 3,000 future events, which is what hiding them would do.

MemberGotcha, thanks Tony. In that case, it would be great if you could add that feature request — I can see how an automated cleanup would be useful for sites with lots of events.
Did you have any other questions about the handling of past events? Let me know and I’d be happy to help as best I can.
Thanks!
