MemberAwesome – glad it was an easy tweak π
I’ll go ahead and close this threadΒ – but if you have a moment we’d love to hear your thoughts on The Events Calendar and your experiences with the plugin so far over on our review page. Thanks again!
Barry
MemberThat would definitely be appreciated – as before we did hit this a release or two ago and put a fix in place, so if it’s cropping up again (looking at the code in our current release I don’t quite see why or how it would happen) we’d certainly want to jump on top of it.
Thanks for your support (and I’ll go ahead and close this thread since it sounds like we’re all good at least for the time being) π
Barry
MemberGlad you found that workaround!
We’re definitely looking at what we can do here to improve the situation re sites hosted on WP Engine. I would note though, in a similar vein to the remarks in the Search WP resource you linked to, that a long query isn’t necessarily a bad query or something that even necessarily needs to be “cleaned up” in the strictest sense – though of course we’re interested in doing what we can to help people who use popular hosting platforms like this.
In any case, we’ll continue to investigate and will do what we can here.
Thanks again for your support and patience π

MemberThanks for the link π
There’s definitely a relatively unusual Javascript error there and that is probably impacting on the Javascript-driven behaviours of other elements like the calendar widget:
Error: Permission denied to access property 'toString'I definitely appreciate it’s not great to hit difficulties with premium plugins, but right now I’m not convinced it’s a bug in our plugin so much as a conflict – and the next logical step is to try and isolate the conflict.
As in my last reply, can you try deactivating all other plugins except for ours and additionally switch to a default unmodified theme such as Twenty Thirteen and then check to see if it is still non-functional? Assuming for the moment it works as expected under those conditions, start reactivating everything – checking at each stage to see if the problem has returned.
Is that possible here?
Thanks!
Barry

MemberHappy to help: what I’ll do is close this thread for the time being, but we’ll do our best to reopen and post an update as soon as we’ve got something to report re the kilometres/miles bug.
Thanks again for your support and patience π

MemberCan I ask why it would automatically remove the option of adding/editing a price to events in the admin area just because you have installed a filter bar for the front end users?
Simply to avoid user confusion … at least I understand that was the original intention – in practice I can definitely imagine not everyone would see the value and as ever we’re open to feature requests for items like this π
Barry
MemberOK, thanks for sharing that.
So I visited that URL, selected 2 tickets and clicked the add to cart button. I was then taken to the cart page and saw that the correct line item (and correct quantity) had been added to the cart. Again, on proceeding to checkout, the item was still present and the quantity remained correct.
Can you confirm what the problem is/if it is still a problem?
Barry
MemberIt definitely can, thanks for clarifying (and I’ll get that logged as in need of attention).
Thanks again!
Barry
MemberThat would be great and I’ll leave this open for the time being so you can update whenever you’re ready.
Thanks!
May 12, 2014 at 11:21 am in reply to: Issues with time resetting during event edits, and events appearing out of order #158228Barry
MemberOK – I appreciate this may be fairly fluid as the events will change as time goes by, but right now it seems to me to look just as it should and there is nothing that isn’t really explained by my previous post about photo view and how it lays things out.
I definitely do see that the last two “rows” are ordered something like this:
may17may17 may17may17 may18may18 17may17may may18may18 may19may19 may20may20 18may18may 19may18may 20may20may may18may18 may19may19So that final “row” may seem to run in an unusual order with May 20 being followed by May 18 – but again, that’s to be expected given the difference in height of those entries (as this view isn’t strictly ordered left to right, top to bottom). I’m afraid merely fixing the post thumb size as you described isn’t a guarantee that each entry will share the same dimensions, since the excerpt and title lengths can vary as you pointed out.
I hope that explains things and please don’t hesitate to leave a feature request if you feel strongly that a more rigid layout is desirable.
I don’t think there’s too much more we can do here in the short term, though, and will go ahead and close this thread.
Thanks!

MemberHi!
That is possible but does require some customizations that, unfortunately, are sufficiently advanced as to be beyond what we can help you with here.
With that said, this plugin (though unofficial) might help you out here as it allows you to make the front page of your website your main event page.
Might that work?
Barry
MemberSo it’s important to remember that you will have specified a search distance limit (in Events β Settings β General, or else it will be whatever the default value is – but let’s say 50 miles).
If you search for a town like Ridgewood – and there is an event in that town – it is highly likely that if we use the very centre of Ridgewood as the datum we’ll get a result. When a much larger geographical entity is specified, though – such as a US state – that isn’t true. The centrepoint for a state may easily be in excess of 50 miles away from one or more towns and cities within that state.
For that reason, it’s quite easy to pull some empty result sets in this sort of scenario.
Does that make sense/at least clarify things?
Barry
MemberHi – sorry you’re hitting difficulties.
Right now it looks as if you are using the Default Events Template. Often this is perfect, but with some themes the Default Page Template is a better choice.
Can you try changing this by visiting Events β Settings β Display and adjusting the Events Template setting?
Thanks – and let me know how you get on!
Barry
MemberHi – great question!
Definitely possible, but it’s something where – at least at this point in time – you would need to code your own solution to the problem (see here for a high level summary).
With that said, we’re always open to new feature requests if you’d like to post one/add your support to any suitable existing requests π
Thanks!
