MemberHi Anne, Floris.
This has of course dragged on a lot longer than is ideal and as you can probably guess that’s because we’ve been stretched a bit too thin over the last few weeks. That isn’t your problem but it has obviously affected both of you so please accept our apologies.
We’ve arranged for our dev Tim to look into this and he ideally needs to be able to access an affected installation first hand. He would also need details of a Facebook event that exhibits this problem (Anne, I believe the event you originally referenced has been deleted/has expired).
So, if one or both of you could provide access – (S)FTP details and an administrative WordPress login – and also provide details of a current Facebook event that causes this issue then that would be excellent. We will then endeavour to provide a response within 48hrs to allow Tim a chance to investigate.
So, if you’re up for that, please contact us by email ([email protected]) with the information requested above. Please also:
- Include a link to this thread in your email and mark the subject FAO Barry/Tim
- As a precaution, back up your site first of all and make sure you know how to restore that back up in the event something does go wrong
And we’ll take things from there – quite possibly Tim will email you directly after he’s got your details.
Thanks so much for all your patience.

MemberI won’t be preparing the tutorial so I can’t really offer further guidance at this time, I’m afraid, particularly as Gantry isn’t something I personally use.
The Events Calendar is far from the only plugin to use the concepts of “virtual pages” and of template overrides … I’m not sure what sort of support Gantry offers but perhaps you could search their forums/pose a question to them and see if there are some generic solutions that could be leveraged?

MemberYour’re quite right, I didn’t notice that. You’ll almost certainly need to modify the where component of the query, though … if you can bear with me I’ll see if I can hunt down a snippet for this (no guarantees though!).
Barry
MemberThe problem there is that the tag query is set up to look for posts with that tag, not tribe_events with that tag. What you want to do of course is make it so WordPress queries for posts or tribe_events (or possibly any post type) that has been tagged.
Have you posted back a comment of your own to ask whomever contributed the above code how they handled this?

MemberThanks onelittlemoose. Michael: just checking to see if you need further help here (if so, if you can provide Jonah with any further info he’s requested that would be great).
If not we’ll close this thread shortly. Thanks!

MemberCLosing 🙂
Just open a new thread if you still need help here.

MemberHi guys – sorry for the continued delay and thanks for your continued patience. I’ve followed up with the assigned dev and hopefully we’ll get some kind of update to you.
Barry
MemberJust to add, one of our devs (Jonathan) did try leaving the address blank but for the street address and entered lat, long coordinates there (this is using our 3.0 beta code) and that worked.
The only side effect was that the coordinates then displayed on the single event page as part of the address – though that could be concealed. So that’s another possible approach you could explore.
Barry
MemberHi Steve,
No unfortunately that is not currently possible and probably will not be possible with the 3.0 release, either. This is the first time I’ve personally seen a request for a feature like this; I’m not really sure how much demand exists for it.
It would very much be possible to set this up as a customization, though, so if you have the skills or can find a suitably skilled developer to look into this for you that’s a possible avenue – better yet, if you devise a solution please post back and share with the community!
Barry
MemberNo problem – sorry we can’t do more on this occassion 😐
Barry
MemberI think you’re describing something quite different.
In your case, you’ve registered a new taxonomy to enable tags for events, is that correct?
Barry
MemberYes I’m following you, but our plugin doesn’t currently allow you to create separate calendars within a single blog. You can however categorize events and only show events from a specific category. With the help of some third party plugins you can also do things like add colouring effects.
However, there aren’t really any tools to limit who can see a particular event – nor is The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO geared up to render the calendar inside a dashboard widget.
What you want is almost certainly possible – but again it’s sufficiently unusual that we can’t offer support for it here.
Barry
MemberOK – so a single event like http://nagoya-info.com/event/aichi-international-school-open-house-event/ is what you are after, and you want to extend this to event pages like the calendar/upcoming events list but not to standard WP pages … is that correct?
Barry
MemberOK, good thing you clarified! One moment …
