MemberHi Chris,
I’m sorry to hear about your wife – I can understand that would be a stressful situation.
Please explain how why you are HACKING client websites? … BEWARE PEOPLE\ your site could be locked up at any time if you miss the renewal date (even though you own the plugin?!!!)
Hopefully I’ve explained our position in this other topic and we can continue the discussion there if needed.
Claiming that we ‘hack’ client websites and that we ‘lock’ up their sites, though, is simply untrue and misleading so I’ll address it here also: we do not and would never hack a customer site. Nor, if you choose not to renew your subscription, does your site suddenly lock up — that is a very dramatic description of events indeed.
It is however true that – in the case of Event Aggregator specifically (which is not a plugin but a service we provide) – you will not be able to perform additional imports when your license key expires. There is nothing untoward about that and, as covered in your other forum topic, it does not involve ‘hacking’ your site.
To reuse an analogy: if you cease to pay for an internet service, your provider does not hack your computer to remove your access to their service. This is just the same and your site will continue working – it’s just that our service will stop supplying it with events from other sources such as Facebook, Meetup or any of the other supported event feeds.
Can someone explain how this plugin keeps getting less features and more pricey?
I disagree with this: previously, if you wished to import events from different sources (such as iCal and Facebook), you would need to purchase multiple different plugins.
With our Event Aggregator service you can import from multiple sources, no extra plugins needed. It’s also, I’d suggest, a very fair pricing model.
The renewals are growing more and more close to the original price also..
We did revise our renewal prices and the discounts are not as large as they used to be.
This isn’t an attempt to ‘bleed’ you, though, it’s an attempt for us to continue delivering quality products and services in a sustainable manner. We are aware that not everyone is happy with this and we’re listening to your feedback — but we also have to do what makes sense for us as a business, as that is what allows us to continue developing and improving all that we offer.
Really peed off. #reallypeed
I understand that and I do hope I’ve explained our position adequately. If you want to discuss it further, just let me know.

MemberHi Chris,
Thanks for contacting us and I’m sorry to hear you’ve experienced some frustration.
I’ve PAID for this plugin (aka it’s mine) and you remotely disable it? Please explain how you allowed to break the law?
We have no desire to break the law and, unless I’m misunderstanding the situation, have not done so here.
Let me explain how Event Aggregator works: it is not in fact a plugin and so you have not downloaded it or installed it on your website. By the same token we have not remotely disabled it, either. Rather, Event Aggregator is a service which runs on our own servers (which is where all the work of interfacing with Facebook, Meet Up and other data sources happens, sparing your own website from the effort).
The Events Calendar on the other hand is our core plugin, which is freely available and which you should not have paid for. It is however capable of talking to and taking advantage of our Event Aggregator service – but to do this you must have a valid license key.
In your case, it looks as if you do not currently have a valid Event Aggregator key and you will require one if you wish to continue taking advantage of our service.
I OWN IT. It is illegal in Australia for you to disable something I OWN. That’s called hacking, and that is illegal.
It’s worth reiterating: we have not hacked or modified anything on your server and we have no means of doing so.
It is further worth us reiterating that the Event Aggregator service is not something you own — it is a service you subscribe to and that you can easily take advantage of as a user of The Events Calendar.
Should it help, you can think of it as being similar to your internet service. To take advantage of the internet you generally need some sort of computer, but, at least in most countries, you will be unable to connect to the internet unless you pay for that service. If you do not renew your internet subscription, the service stops.
It’s bad enough your renewal prices are the same (give or take $10) from your full price. (and also if you buy a bundle, you don’t get bundle pricing on renewal, you pay individual full prices).
We definitely welcome your feedback on this, as it is something we only recently adjusted. Ultimately, we did this to provide a reliable and sustainable service that people could rely on now and well into the future and I’m sorry to hear it has upset you – but we did it for the best of reasons.
I appreciate you are somewhat frustrated at this point but I hope my explanation puts your mind at ease: we would never hack a customer’s website or actively disable software running on it; we do however seek to charge a fair price for a service we provide.
If I can assist further or you have additional questions please let me know.

MemberHi Dermot,
I’m sorry to hear you’ve encountered difficulties. That does sound rather odd and I’m not sure what would cause it, exactly (nor have I seen similar reports from other users).
I’ve turned off all other plugins and have downgraded Events calendar Pro and Events Calendar to 4.3.4 and I still have the same problem
Thanks for giving that a go. As part of the process, were you also able to switch to a default theme and did that make any difference at all? Additionally, would it be possible for you to share (by private reply if you prefer) a screenshot of the Community Events “My Events” screen, if that is where you saw all the events from February?
Thanks!

MemberHi Erika,
Thanks for posting 🙂
I’m not actually 100% sure what you mean, though – are you referring to the text that reads something like “The post XYZ appeared first on (your website)”? If so, that is not actually something our plugin adds and probably has its origin in another plugin or your theme.
If you are referring to something else, on the other hand, would you be able to give a specific example?
Thanks!

MemberHi @poancia,
Thanks for contacting us (though I’m sorry to hear you’ve experienced difficulties).
I do first of all want to highlight that we try hard to stick to one issue per forum topic — we’ve found this prevents confusion and allows us to help everyone in a fast and fair manner.
In this case, what I suggest is we start with basic troubleshooting and see if we can eliminate any of the highlighted problems. The dropdown selectors, for instance, should not have the double arrow icons and my hunch is that that stems from a plugin or theme conflict (the fact that the dropdowns can vary in width, however, is expected following recent changes we made).
So, if possible (and especially as you have a staging site at your disposal), could we start by removing other components from the picture and see if that resolves things – then add other items back in to see which if any are introducing the conflicts?
Temporarily disabling any custom coding would be an essential part of the troubleshooting process in this case: I realize that, like WPML, your custom coding needs to be present to see some of the problems you are experiencing. However, disabling them could help us to determine if they are instrumental in triggering other problems.
Thanks!

MemberHi Devin,
By default The Events Calendar sets a special tag telling search engines not to index month view but to follow any links it contains. So, if your main events page is indeed the month view grid (which is the default), it will typically not be indexed. The same is not however true of other views or for single event posts.
Can I ask if other pages from your site are being indexed as expected? Do you have access to Google Analytics or similar for your site and does that shed any light on what’s happening?

MemberHi @activeyouth,
Sorry to hear you’ve encountered some difficulties.
It sounds like you are several versions behind with a number of your plugins. Mind updating? We periodically fix things and there’s every chance that by moving to our latest releases you will fix a number of issues.
We have been experiencing some major slowdown on our sites, and one of the reason is the error messages that are coming up in our server for the one site we use your plugin with
The error messages you shared shouldn’t in themselves cause much in the way of a slowdown, though. If the error log is becoming too big, it might be worth doing some cleanup (and if you have an IT person at your disposal, perhaps he can help there by configuring log rotation).
Thanks!

MemberHi Derek,
Thanks for posting!
If there is a point where there are cities across all 50 states, you don’t really want to sift through every single city that is in every state. Is there a way around this?
I definitely see your point and it sounds like you need the filters to operate in a dynamic, drill down sort of fashion (ie, if the user first selects Oregon then only cities in Oregon are available via the city dropdown).
Unfortunately, Filter Bar is not designed to work this way. It seems possible you could make it do this as a further customization, but that would be beyond the scope of what we can help you with (you are, of course, welcome to post this as a feature request for our further consideration).
we want to be able to carry this filtering ability over to additional pages rather than just future events.
If you have past events (and you do) then you can use Filter Bar there, too – is that what you mean?
We also want to be able to have people be able to search in a similar fashion for camps and community activities rather than just “events”. Is this able to be done?
Filter Bar integrates tightly with The Events Calendar and the primary post type The Events Calendar concerns itself with is the event … so, if you create your camps and community activities as new events then yes this is possible – but if they need to exist as entirely separate entities then, again, it seems possible you could do this but would certainly involve some advanced customization work.
Does that answer your questions?

MemberHi Rhonda,
Thanks for contacting us and apologies for the confusion.
The error message is a little misleading but the basic problem is that you have used your Community Events license key twice: once for Community Events itself and again for Event Aggregator.
Each key only works for one product, however, so what you need to do is enter the correct key for Event Aggregator. You can find this by visiting the My Account → License Keys page.
Does that help?

MemberHi Gloriadei,
Thanks for contacting us and I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been experiencing difficulties.
Can you share – by private reply if you prefer – the URL of the Google Calendar you are importing from and give me some specific examples of events that exist there but are not being imported to the calendar on your own website?
Can you also confirm if they appear in admin events list (ie the list you can reach via the WordPress dashboard) or if they are missing there, too?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberHi Meghan,
That’s certainly possible though it requires adding some custom code – either to your theme’s functions.php file or (preferably) a custom plugin. The basic form looks something like this:
function events_related_posts_override( array $query_args ) { $query_args[ 'tax_query' ] = array( array( 'taxonomy' => Tribe__Events__Main::TAXONOMY, 'field' => 'slug', 'terms' => 'birthdays', ) ); return $query_args; } add_filter( 'tribe_related_posts_args', 'events_related_posts_override' );In the above example, I’m limiting related posts to those assigned to a category with a slug of ‘birthdays’, but you could easily adjust as needed.
Does that help at all?
Barry
MemberStoked to hear it, thanks for confirming 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close this topic, but if we can assist with anything else please don’t hesitate to open a new one and one of the team will be only too happy to help.

MemberHi Steve,
You’re absolutely right.
Unfortunately we don’t yet have complete support in that specific area for all the possible date formats that can be provided via our Display → Date Format Settings but it certainly seems like we could make this a little more robust so that, in your example, it at least renders as 8 May 2017 even if 8th May 2017 is desired.
At any rate, our apologies for this and I’ll log an issue to ensure some further work takes place.
Thanks for your support and patience in the meantime.
