MemberHey Mark: to jump in here and answer your last question. There are a couple of ways you could do this. One would be to simply rely on the categories built into The Events Calendar/PRO and set up a separate category for each city. This way you could direct users to a given category without sending them to the full calendar, and they’d see all the events taking place at just that location.
The other idea would be to create your “venues” as cities. Venues create a frontend standalone page with a map and important venue information (that you define), followed by a list of all events at that venue. If your venues existed as cities you could also maintain a separate, non-location based categorization as you saw fit.
That help? Let us know if not and we can elaborate. Thanks again for your interest and support.

MemberGotcha. Thanks for the follow-up, Carrie. Not sure if Jonah saw your follow-up so I’ve asked him to take a look and respond directly with any thoughts he may have today. Stay tuned.

MemberAwesome to hear, Chris! Thanks for confirming as much. Glad to hear this did the trick. If we can do anything else down the road let me know.
Rob
MemberHey Genesis. Thanks for the heads up here; not sure about this myself but let me get Jonah to take a look when he hits the forums today. Stay tuned.
Rob
MemberNice! Thanks for confirming, Meghan – this is good to know and should be of value to other users facing your same problem down the road. We appreciate you sharing and please let us know if we can do anything else.
Rob
MemberThanks, Asem. That’s odd – clicking from the homepage into an individual entry works fine, but when I try to access the broader /events page I too keep getting that error you’ve noted. Let me get Jonah, from our dev team, to see if he can identify what’s up when he hits the forums later today. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience so far.

MemberRobert, to add a point to Joyce’s note (specifically to answer your question: “Why would we use the free one when we’ve already bought a license to use the premium version?”). The free version is the base code for the PRO version; in reality, PRO is also just an add-on that extends the functionality of the free The Events Calendar.
So you can always run The Events Calendar with any of the add-ons no problem, but if you wanted some of those PRO features to integrate (ie recurring events, saved venues/organizers, etc) you’d want to activate PRO as well.
Hope that helps and please let us know what else we can do.

MemberThank YOU, Chris. Let us know if after updating to 2.0.7 you still see any issues on this end. We appreciate your support so far.
Rob
MemberHey Terri. Awesome to hear you got this resolved; thanks for confirming as much. If you need us to do anything else down the road just holler, and we’ll make it so.
Thanks, too, for your support so far.

MemberAh, thanks for confirming as much, Jen. We’ve got a couple folks here on the forum who are better versed in iCal than I. Let me see if Andy, who has written a couple patches so far, can identify if this is a bug he thinks we can easily address in next month’s monthly maintenance release.
Stay tuned and thanks for your patience.

MemberHey there Mary. Thanks for the note here; this makes sense and I believe we can try to point you in the right direction. I assume you already checked out the themer’s guide that Jonah put together? We just pushed that out over the past couple weeks and it’s separate from the documentation found at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation. The themer’s guide is at: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/.
Let me know if that isn’t any help and I’ll get Jonah — who wrote that themer’s guide — to comment directly.

MemberHi there Asem. Thanks for the note here, and sorry to hear about the problem. This is an interesting issue and you’re the first to report it.
What happens if you resave your permalinks? Are you running 2.0.7 for both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO? Let me know and we’ll do our best to help get this straightened out. Thanks for your patience so far.

MemberHi there Meredith. Thanks for the note, and for reaching out. Sorry to hear you’re having issues. Does this persist even after updating to the 2.0.7 release that was released today?
Let me know. Please also try resaving your permalinks page and let me know if the issue persists. I can try to troubleshoot from there.

MemberHey there Ben. Thanks for the heads up here, and for posting on the forum per our email exchange. My gut tells me that this is related to the data abstraction plugin you referenced…but as the issue goes a bit outside my area of expertise, I have asked Jonah from our dev team to take a look when he hits the forums shortly today. Please stay tuned and we’ll see what we can offer up.
Thanks for your support and patience so far. If we can do anything else in the interim please let me know.

MemberAh, thanks for confirming William. I just reset my time zone to match your settings and re-read the thread, and I am indeed seeing this. It looks like there is a bug in the code…thanks for bringing it to our attention.
We’re shipping the 2.0.7 update today, which may fix this; but otherwise I’ll make sure the patch for what you’ve noted here is included in next month’s maintenance release (which should be 2.0.8). I apologize for any inconvenience in the interim and thank you for the heads up.
If we can do anything else here please let me know.
