MemberMike: thanks for reaching out here. Andy is spot on: PRO is technically an add-on that extends the functionality of the free The Events Calendar. Whenever we release an update for one there will always be a release for the other deployed at the same time for consistency to be maintained. Though, as Andy notes, the update prompts for both may appear at different times as they’re driven by different sources.
Let us know if you’re still having any issues or concerns from there and we’ll try to assist best we can.
Rob
MemberNice! Thanks, Jonah.
Genesis: glad to hear this got you sorted. Let us know what else we can do down the road…and of course, thanks for your support.
Rob
MemberHey Robert. Thanks for the note, and for reaching out here. What you’re requesting should actually be the default behavior of the plugin; the individual category list should look pretty much exactly like the broader events list.
Something else looks to be at play on your site. Can you check a few things for me? Specifically:
* It could be a permalinks-related issue. Resave your permalinks page to reset them. If you have permalinks turned off, turn them on.
* Switch to a different templating option under Settings –> The Events Calendar, using the dropdown.
* Make sure you’re running the latest version of the Events and Events PRO plugins (both should be 2.0.7).
* Attempt the plugin deactivation route: leaving Events active, deactivate all your other plugins one-by-one to see if a conflict exists.
* If that doesn’t do the trick, is there a staging environment where you can test all plugins off (except Events) AND reverting to the default 2011 theme?Give that a go and let me know what it turns up. Please also confirm that you haven’t modified the core plugin so we’re working on the same page at that end. We’ll do our best to troubleshoot from there.

MemberGood catch here, Chris – my guess is that this is a byproduct of some changes we made to venue/organizer functionality when we launched Facebook Events 1.0 last week. I’ve got Paul (our lead dev on the project) looking at it now so we can revert back for July’s maintenance release.
That’s 2 you’ve spotted so far. Thanks for finding these and bringing them to our attention…and for being patient as we work to get them fixed 🙂 Let me know what else I can do.
Rob
MemberHey Chris. Thanks for the note here; this is a good point. For a post-2.0 release we at one point elected to remove the end date for all-day events in the widget, but that was initially intended to just apply to one-day events. Looks like that got changed here and obviously this is the incorrect behavior…thanks to you bringing it to our attention, we’ll make sure it is fixed in next month’s maintenance release (2.0.8, which should be out around the same time of the month as 2.0.7 was in June).
In the interim, let me see if our dev Jonah has any suggestions for code you could add as a workaround. No guarantees but it’s worth a shot. Stay tuned and thanks again for reporting this.
Rob
MemberGot it. Thanks, Duncan – really appreciate your patience and I apologize on behalf of us all for the inconvenience. Let us know when you have given it a go and we can try to troubleshoot from there.

MemberHey Karen! Thanks for reaching out here, and for your note. We’re learning beings ourselves so this works out nicely 🙂 This is something I’ve asked Joyce, our newly-minted support team member, to address. She’s well versed in SEO and will be hitting the forums this evening…so expect a response sometime thereafter. Thanks for your support and patience so far.
Rob
MemberFranck: are you just saying you want to have the next/previous links stay specific to the category (and not pull from the entire calendar)? Assuming so, let me see what our dev Jonah says about that. I’d imagine it to to be possible but am not sure myself. Stay tuned.
Rob
MemberThanks for the notes here, guys. Apologies that it took me a little time to get you a response here.
Jason: this should just be a matter of removing/re-adding the mini calendar widget, it the change isn’t automatic. You will need PRO 2.0.7 active for this to work. You also may want to resave your permalinks. Let me know if that doesn’t yield anything.
Andy: we’ve found that the update nag for PRO sometimes takes as long as 48 hours to hit a user. (The highest I’ve ever seen is 24 hours on my end). If you want to download it immediately you can just go to Account Central -> Downloads here on the site and snag it straight there.
Robert/Bob: this happens if you upgrade PRO without updating free. Has the update prompt appeared and resolved this yet?
Javier: man, that sucks. I’m sorry to hear about that and am relieved to hear that this was hosting-related. If you backed up in 2.0.6 and restore from that into 2.0.7, it should bring you back to where you want to be. Let us know if that’s not the case, though.
Rob
MemberThanks for the heads up here, Andy – and for identifying what was up here. Let me get Paul to take a look at this and if it is something we can easily integrate into the code, we will do it for next month’s maintenance release. It does appear based on what you’ve noted and Jen’s problem that we were adding that duration unnecessarily…
Jen, you tried Andy’s suggestion? Any luck on your end?
Rob
MemberHey Chris. Thanks for the note here, and sorry to hear you’re having issues. This is an interesting issue, and one that I’m weirdly unable to recreate. Do you have 2.0.7 of both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO? Can you confirm your permalink structure and whether this issue persists after re-saving permalinks?
Let us know and we’ll do what we can to assist.

MemberSure thing Mary. Sorry I couldn’t offer up more here. If you do want me to get Jonah to take a look, let me know and I’ll see if he can point you in the right direction.
Rob
MemberHey Tony. Thanks for the note here. As it stands, template tags (as detailed on the documentation page you checked out, https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation ) are the only way to display event details on the homepage.
Which aspect of the documentation are you unclear on? We can help elaborate if you give us a heads up. You also may want to check out the themer’s guide that we just published (https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/) which may be of some value.
Let us know what you’re stuck on and we’ll do what we can to assist.

MemberHi Duncan. Thanks for the note here, and sorry to hear you’re having issues. You are the second user to bring this up since launching 2.0.7 so it’s definitely possible something is up. But from the sounds of it, at least for that other user, it looks to be a conflict between the new code and something else on their site. The fact that I’m unable to recreate the issue on my default 2011 theme confirms this.
Are you in a position where you can test deactivating your other plugins one-by-one to see if a conflict exists on that end, then reverting to the default 2011 theme (with no plugins active) to see if the issue persists? If we can identify the conflict we can hopefully patch it up for next month’s maintenance release.
Thanks in advance and for your patience so far.
Rob
MemberThanks for the follow-up, Berndt. Not sure what Joyce’s schedule is like today so let me see if Jonah can point you in the right direction when he hits the forums this afternoon. Thanks for your patience so far!
