ParticipantI recently installed Event Cal Pro. Now event cal (free version) has updated and is overwriting the pro version. While Pro will not update to be the dominating plugin. How do I resolve this? Can I delete the free version? Will that erase all of the events in the calendar?

Moderator@mike, Events Calendar (free) and Events Calendar PRO are two different and distinct plugins. They won’t/can’t overwrite each other. You must have Events Calendar (free) installed and active for ECP to function. Additionally, they must both be the same version. It happens that the updating mechanism for Events Calendar (free) is via WordPress.org and happens quicker than the update mechanism for ECP, but it will happen. If it doesn’t you can always download the current version of ECP from the Account Central tab at the top of this page.

MemberMike: thanks for reaching out here. Andy is spot on: PRO is technically an add-on that extends the functionality of the free The Events Calendar. Whenever we release an update for one there will always be a release for the other deployed at the same time for consistency to be maintained. Though, as Andy notes, the update prompts for both may appear at different times as they’re driven by different sources.
Let us know if you’re still having any issues or concerns from there and we’ll try to assist best we can.

ParticipantThanks for the responses! Will the update be available soon? Will it automatically be available through the backend of my website?

MemberHey again Mike. On this question: the backend update prompt should appear whenever a new version is available, yes. It will appear at different times for free & PRO, since the engine driving the update prompt is different. It will only appear for the PRO release if you had your license key entered under Settings -> The Events Calendar. (However, if no update prompt appears, you can always re-download the release here at the tri.be site on the Account Central -> Downloads page).
Hope that helps. Let me know if I can answer anything else.
