ParticipantHi I am building a directory site that will host events calendars for multiple cities.
I set the Events Categories to be Cities and am running into a problem when posting a tour. For instance – An author is touring to promote a book. Let’s say the title of the tour is the “Cool Book Book Tour” –
Right now my URL looks like this:
http://website.com/event/Cool-Book-Book-Tour/
When I need it to look more like this:
http://website.com/event/austin/Cool-Book-Book-Tour/How do I show the events city in the URL?
I would also like the city in the URL of the multiple events view:
http://website.com/events/category/austin/
(it would be nice to take out category as well but from what I have researched, this isnt possible?)This seemed like something I should be able to fix with custom permalinks but I have been trying and havent got it to work… Can someone show me the light??
Thanks in advance. Really excited to use the plugin.

ParticipantHi Mark,
This feature is not currently available. We have some tickets to improve the robustness of permalinks but for now there’s nothing you can do but setup some custom redirection through something like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/
If you’d like to throw in your vote for this feature, please start a thread in out https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-calendar-pro-feature-requests/ forum.
Cheers,

ParticipantHi Jonah thanks for the response.
Reading that perhaps I didnt emphasize correctly – I am not so concerned about the permalinks right now, but I do need that functionality.
Are you saying that the events calendar wont allow me to set up multiple calendars based on cities?

ParticipantHow would I set up multiple city calendars and have events happen in either one or all the cities?
Is that what you recommended the redirection plugin for? I am pretty WP savvy and have no idea how I would use that.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Mark,
Sorry about the confusion. You can accomplish this fairly easily simply by setting up your cities as categories and then to access any particular category you would just link to /events/category/city-name
Does that do what you need?

MemberHey Mark: to jump in here and answer your last question. There are a couple of ways you could do this. One would be to simply rely on the categories built into The Events Calendar/PRO and set up a separate category for each city. This way you could direct users to a given category without sending them to the full calendar, and they’d see all the events taking place at just that location.
The other idea would be to create your “venues” as cities. Venues create a frontend standalone page with a map and important venue information (that you define), followed by a list of all events at that venue. If your venues existed as cities you could also maintain a separate, non-location based categorization as you saw fit.
That help? Let us know if not and we can elaborate. Thanks again for your interest and support.

ParticipantOk thanks for the help guys. I had kind of confused myself there.
To solve the problem I have set up the cities as categories and and are custom-linking directly to the cities events.
In terms of the URL stuff, I am either going to manually add the city before the title in each permalink or try to do some redirection stuff. I’m thinking the manual entry is going to be better I will submit my vote for the permalink issue.
thanks again for the help.
