MemberHello Benedikt,
Our calendar is only a calendar, and its events use custom post types.
It seems to me what you are trying to do is create another type of custom post type for your artists, which you would need to set up in your theme, apart from our plugin.
To get an event to link to an artist’s page, all you have to do is add the link like in any WordPress editing screen. It is the same editor. When you add your description, simply add a link to the artists page.
If you want this to be part of the data that shows up along with date, time, venue, etc., we do have a place for “custom fields” where this type of information can be entered. However, at the moment, these fields don’t take HTML. We are releasing a new version very soon (with a week or two), and when that happens we might have the ability to add HTML to custom fields. However I can’t guarantee that will be the case.
I hope this helps!

MemberHi’ya Bob! Joyce here (who won the free WordCamp ticket – you made me so happy!)
I’m a bit new here with Modern Tribe, so do bear with me if I’m giving totally uneducated advice (still learning!). I’m curious to know if you’re running the latest version of the plugin? It seems like {CALENDAR} is being used as a shortcode, but the PRO plugin does not use short codes, it uses custom post types.
So we do have event categories, but each of those can be linked to using WordPress custom menus.
Then if you wanted to get the default view to be “Event List” on the main calendar, that shows all events and all categories, you could set that up in the Events Calendar Settings.
But if you wanted the Calendar Grid View on specific Category pages (i.e. category archives, basically), then you would need to do some custom coding 🙂
We have a Themer’s Guide to the Events Calendar, if that helps: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
I guess if my answer doesn’t help, I would need to know more about what you mean by “globally” using “Event List” and then on pages using the Calendar Grid View (or visa versa).
Thanks!

MemberSorry I meant columns when I was saying rows!

MemberHi Mark, it will expand, like on mine: http://www.joycegrace.ca/business-meetups-vancouver/#axzz1z9mvDcTO
However if you modify the CSS, or if your theme has a set height on a property that the calendar picks up on, you will need to make some changes to get the calendar to work with your theme. We can only guarantee it works on the latest version of the Twenty Eleven theme.
If it’s any help, we have a tutorial on integrating our calendar with Genesis themes here: https://theeventscalendar.com/tutorial-integrating-the-events-calendar-w-genesis/
However I doubt you’ll have a problem with rows expanding. Just keep in mind that this can be theme dependent.

MemberHello Mark, yes we have event categories you can create, and then link to using WordPress custom menus. We also have a tutorial on how to colour your categories. We have an Events List Advanced Widget that can show upcoming events by categories.
Do do more serious customization with the categories however, you’d have to consult our Themer’s Guide: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
Hope this helps!

MemberHello Rachel,
Yes, this is a theme specific issue, and I’m glad you got it mostly worked out!I am still not understanding this sentence though: “But just to confuse things the main list http://101.0.66.80/~glenstre/events/upcoming/ seems to pull in a different element from the first event”
When you say “different element from the first event” – what is the “element”? and what do you mean by “from the first event”? Each event should have its own photo, start date, etc., Are you referring to the embedded YouTube video that shows on top of that page? Did you want to remove that?
However, I would say to try different templates under Settings > The Events Calendar > Templates and see if any of those help. You seem pretty far along in your customization though, so I wouldn’t want you to have to re-do or break anything.
Otherwise creating a new category might be the simplest solution….however I have to admit I’m still not sure what you’re trying to fix, or take out.

MemberThanks Jim, our new release (2.0.8) is coming out very soon, within a week or two (they come out at the beginning of every month). Can you try again after updating to the latest version when it comes out, and let us know if this still happens? And also if the older links, that you created on an older version, still show up properly? It will help us with debugging things.
Thanks!Joyce Grace
MemberHello William, can you clarify what you mean by “outside of the events calendar pro system” – are you trying to export the data? Or are you trying to display the data on another area of your web site? Or is it something else?

MemberHello Lydia, can you try using “Events List Advanced Widget”?
This does have the option to show events from a specific category, but it is a drop down menu nearer to the bottom of the widget’s settings.Do you have the Events Calendar Pro add-on activated?

MemberHello Jeff and Torstein,
I have looked through our list of logged issues with widgets and haven’t seen this one anywhere.
Can you confirm with me that you’ve tried all of the following to source the problem?
1. Are you running the latest version of WordPress?
2. Are you running the latest versions of our plugins (2.0.7)?
3. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?
4. Have you tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme to see if it’s something with your theme?
5. Try setting your permalinks to ‘postname’ in Settings > Permalinks?
6. Try refreshing your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks (it does it automatically)?
7. Try increasing the PHP memory for your website: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?Joyce Grace
MemberHi Zoe!
While I can’t guarantee this feature will be available at any given time, I can say that the desire to customize recurring events with more advanced options is a huge request and we have some plans to get it more to users’ liking soon.I would definitely post this in our feature request forum: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-calendar-pro-feature-requests/ because it’s a great idea!
Other than that, If you’re comfortable with some coding, I would check out our Themer’s Guide, you might find some useful guidelines there to help you out: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
Sorry I can’t be of much help!
Joyce Grace
MemberHi Tyler (and thanks Zoe for helping out!)
We don’t normally support that level of customization here on the support forums, but we do have a Themer’s guide that you could try out: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/
I know the feeling of coding stuff looking like Greek 🙂
However, you might want to consider hiring a developer (hmmmm…maybe Zoe?!) to help you out with this if it is really important. Our job as support reps is mainly to make sure our plugin works the way we promise it will work, not so much to customize it for folks, I hope you can understand!

MemberHi Torstein,
Thanks for posting here. This sounds like some pretty heavy duty customization work. We don’t normally support this level of customization on this forum. All I could do is direct you to the Themer’s Guide to customizing the Events Calendar: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/The other option would be to hire a developer to do this for you, or, you might find a kind soul to help you out on the WordPress.org forums, or even here, if a community member reads this.
I will see if one of our higher level support people can do anything for you, in case this is a simple fix he knows how to do already, but no guarantees, sorry!

MemberHello again EmTab, I found this thread, can you tell me if this is the same thing you experience when editing recurring events?
Also, are you using the latest version of WordPress, our plugin, and all our add-ons?
