Hello everyone, just a head’s up:
Just wanted you to know, after much research and deliberation (we definitely haven’t forgotten this issue in time!) in regards to the timezone issue, we found out the problem is related to the way Facebook handles timezones and for this to be fixed, there would need to be a patch or add-on plugin that would go in and fix all the dates. We hope to work on this, but it may not be released in the very near future. We do hope to have it out eventually though, and of course the sooner the better πŸ™‚

Thanks for notifying us of it in the first place!

Hello “I also vote for lite registration capabilities!!”

Eventbrite would basically create an iframe of the Eventbrite ticket area on the page and then send a user there to do full registration. I’m pretty sure Eventbrite can be simplified if you modified their forms and such.

    Hello Rachelle,
Here are some answers, best I can to help out!
    1) Event organizer can have contact details added, so yes, the email could be one of the fields. Here is a demo page that shows what that would look like: http://demo.tri.be/event/developer-scrum/2012-08-02/

    2) A discussion forum would be another plugin. However, since the events are technically still WordPress posts (they are custom post types), you could do some code hacking to get the commenting function in there probably. Or perhaps your theme will have settings for that. Another way to arrange carpooling is to have an “additional field” that says “Need to carpool?” and if they answer “Yes” you could get in touch with them, or in the event description you could lead them to a blog post, forum plugin page, etc. where they could leave comments about it.

    3. You could probably do this with the Eventbrite Tickets add-on: https://theeventscalendar.com/shop/wordpress-eventbrite-tickets/ – if you want events to be $0 that’s fine too, but it would ask them to register and inside an Eventbrite account you can set up a limit of attendees, and a whole lot of other neat stuff.

    4. It doesn’t include an event reminder but I’ve heard this request before so perhaps it will get put into a future release down the road (probably not for a while though). That being said, I think Eventbrite can send out reminders, so if you hook your Eventbrite account into the Events Calendar on your site you should be able to get that type of functionality with the two together.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello Rick,

This is a pre-sales forum for people to ask questions about the paid add-ons. If you post your request on http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/the-events-calendar we’ll be able to help you there. We hit that forum about once a week.

    Thanks!

Hi Cliff, you’d have to custom code this. If I were you I would set this up as a category, and then get that category to appear at the top. The banner would be a Css thing probably, and you could use this tutorial to get a featured image or post thumbnail integrated into the events, then just use CSS to size the banner accordingly: https://theeventscalendar.com/add-the-post-thumbnail-to-your-event-list/

If it’s easier, we already have tutorials on how to make certain categories stick out with colours, or even by filters: https://theeventscalendar.com/coloring-your-category-events/

Hello pb, I am making sure Rob will get back to you asap.

In the mean time can you please confirm you’ve done all of the following for him:

    1. Are you running the latest version of WordPress?
    2. Are you running the latest versions of our plugins (2.0.8)?
    3. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?
    4. Have you tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme to see if it’s something with your theme?
    5. Try setting your permalinks to ‘postname’ in Settings > Permalinks?
    6. Try refreshing your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks (it does it automatically)?
    7. Try increasing the PHP memory for your website: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?

And just to be sure, you tried to turn off the age restriction on Facebook?

Hello pb, I see this is your third post on the same topic, so I am going to close this one out, so we can keep things organized. Can you relay all this information to the post where you added you were having the same issue – the post that Angela started?

    Thanks

Hi Peter, do you get any particular error messages or anything that could give us a clue as to what is causing the “cap”? What happens when you try to import the 101th event?

Hello pb, I see you posted this on the other forum where users were also having this issue. For simplicity sake I’m going to close this thread so we can keep the conversation in context over there. Thanks!

    Hello Trent,

Regarding question 1, you may have to do a template over ride or some code hacking to accomplish this. I will look for more straight-on solutions for you but this tutorial at the end shows you where to go to start with this customization: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/community-events-new-user-primer/

But there is a workaround way that might work and would be a lot easier if you’re not into custom coding. If you create a category for your events (or more than one category), in your navigation menu or however you lead users to your events, you would link directly to that one category. Then on the user event submission form, you can have them chose a category that the event will go in. And of course, as you create events yourself, you’d add events to categories, just like adding blog posts to categories. That way all the events will show up on one calendar.

It’s not as finesse of a solution, but it’ll probably work πŸ™‚

Regarding question 2) there is definitely something wrong. I’m guessing you don’t want all those event submission forms there right?

To get you some help, we need to do some test and to rule out the most common possibilities for these types of errors. Once I know you are in your most optimal situation, and if we can determine this is a bug with our plugin, I can get higher level support involved.

Can you confirm you’ve done all of the following for me:

If there is a problem with your theme (which I think there might be), unfortunately you’ll need to get your theme fixed and working with the latest WordPress standards. But first let’s try those out and see what happens.

    Thanks!

    Hello John and John πŸ™‚
I think you need to install a user role editor and change the allowance of your users. I’ve heard of similar issues with the community plugin (not exactly the same, but still based on user roles).

The one I’ve used is called User Role Editor and I know it allows you even create new custom roles that are not any of the default WordPress roles. But there are many role editors on the WordPress repository at WordPress.org that you can look into.

Let me know if this helps – it will be useful for other users to know as well!

Hello again John, in case it helps, I found a post that tells how to remove the option to add an image in the community events area: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/remove-image-upload-in-event-add/

Regarding the “slowness”, I found a forum post here about it https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/slowing-down-site/

That post was started earlier this year and it seems like it is a known problem. The good news is that we did make an improvement in 2.0.8 and have plans to make even more improvements when 2.1 comes out, hopefully later this year, but we can’t be sure.

    Very sorry about this!

    Hello John,

Can you try increasing the PHP memory for your website? Here is a link on how to do that: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?

Let me know if that helps.

Also, are you running the latest version of the Community Events plugin?

Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?

Have you tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme to see if it’s something with your theme?
