    Hello EmTab,
I am searching to see if this is a logged issue that other people have had problems with, both in our forum and on our own internal development bug log, but I can’t find anything.

I’m wondering if perhaps you made a modification to one the occurrences of this repeating event, and did not click to update all future events after that, when it came time to save?

Something might have gotten mixed up, somehow, as edits were being made.

I would suggest that you delete all the instances of the recurring events, and then recreate it all together. See if that helps.

Recurring events are meant to happen at certain intervals, so if the intervals are not regular, and you were to go in and make edits to future instances of the event, to change the date so it is different from the interval as set up in the first event, it could cause some mix up if not saved properly, or for whatever reason.

Also, can you try to re-save your permalinks?

Can you also try to set up your date settings in the general WordPress settings area, so dates display as you like them site wide? And also set your time zone?

Let me know if this helps.

    Hello Tony,
Thanks for writing – glad you liked that showcase piece.
The showcase thread is an example of calendars that people have customized using their great coding skills.

On this support forum we don’t support that level of customization. You would need to code that feature in on your own, or hire a developer to it for you.

We have a useful Themer’s Guide to the Events Calendar that you may want to check out: https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/

That would be a good starting point to lead you in the right direction, however you will need some knowledge of php, not to mention HTML and CSS, if not other coding languages.

    Hope this helps!

That was of course, meant to be instructions when you are on the actual “venues” page in the back end of WordPress

Hi Tony, if this is for your back end of WordPress, if you click on “Screen options” in the top right corner you can select how many venues the list should show.

Hi Jen, I think I found the thread – was it this one? https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/outlook-feed-adds-one-minute-to-end-time-united-states-as-location/
It looks like you found a solution there, is that correct?

Hi Jen, can you link to the forum post for the earlier issue you are describing? Is that forum topic closed? If not, it would be best to always post in the same forum thread, so we can keep track of the progress 🙂

    Thanks!

    Hello Kyle, Marc and Bob,

I have learned that this is a logged bug in our system, and we are looking for ways to fix it. The thing is, the sidebar issue going below the page is theme dependent, so really the only solution is to modify your theme’s CSS. Since the plugin and sidebars work on the standardized Twenty Eleven theme, we know it’s not really a plugin issue.

However, as a starting point for help, have you tried switching templates if you go into Settings (in WordPress back-end) > The Events Calendar and click on the tab that says “Template” – try using a different template there to see if that helps.

Otherwise this is a customization issue and while I can try to help, there is only so far we can go to fix this. However, starting by linking to your sites would be very helpful 🙂

    Hello Weijing,

I see what you mean, but I’m still not clear what you are trying to do. Are you trying to get ongoing events to display beneath events that haven’t started yet? Or are you trying to get events that start today to go at the top of your list?

Both of those scenarios are really a level of customization we can’t offer on free support. You would need to pay a developer to do that type of work for you.

However, a suggestion that might work for you is to try to categorize your events, using the event categories. Then you can have a menu in your web site navigation that leads to specific event categories, which in your case would be ordered by “upcoming,” “ongoing” and “happening today”. Our sidebar widget can also do this for you. You would need to create custom menu links using WordPress menus, and link to that specific category archive, so users can filter accordingly.

I hope this is somewhat of a solution for you, with the functionality that exists with the plugin already!

Hi Krysia, while we can’t guarantee any specific features for any release, to give you context for when 2.1 comes out, we are on 2.0.7 right now, and at the beginning of every month, usually in the first week, we release a new version. So 2.0.8 is next, followed by 2.0.9…..and then hopefully 2.1 – Unless there’s a 2.0.9.1 🙂

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing! I’ll keep this in mind in case someone else asks about it in the future. I’m sure the pain you went through will prove to be a useful way to save someone else pain the future! 🙂

    Hi Rachel,

I do hope to help you out with this. I’m not sure what specifically you are trying to get rid of. In your original post you talked about the photo: “t not only pulls in the heading and category but also the feature or image from the first event in the list. I simply want to remove this and just have the heading.”

So I’m not exactly sure which part you want to get rid of.

On this page, I see there is an extra photo at the top – is that intentional? http://101.0.66.80/~glenstre/events/category/theatre/

Or are you trying to get rid of the start dates and costs on this page: http://101.0.66.80/~glenstre/events/upcoming/ ?

If you can let me know I’ll try to help out, and if I can’t do it, I’ll see if a higher level of support can help. We don’t normally provide support for this type of customization, but I’ll see what I can do.

    Thanks!

Hi Terri! I’m glad that worked! Sometimes that’s the solution to a lot of things, just to do it again! My cousin who works in tech once told me that’s what her secret was to fixing things 🙂

Hi Ben, if you have a lot of countries then I can see how this would become very tedious for you. However it is the most dummy-proof way of doing it, without knowing how to modify the code and do some heavy programming.

    Sorry it can’t be easier!
