MemberThanks SO much for all the info, Samuel! This is super helpful.
What happens when you take temporarily take the tribe-events folder out of your theme directory? Any difference then?
It looks like it’s shaping up to be either a conflict with the theme or a customization — this will help figure that out.
Thanks!

MemberHey Stuart — I see my last reply was marked as the correct answer. Thanks for following up! I’ll go ahead and close this thread but please feel free to open a new one if any other questions pop up and we’d be happy to help. 🙂

MemberHey Nigel and a happy new year to you as well! Welcome to the forums. 🙂
I see a couple of javascript errors pop up when viewing the site in the console:
Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token if
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)It looks like those errors are coming up as a result of a conflict with the theme.
A couple things to try:
- Change the calendar display settings (Events > Calendar > Display) so that the default calendar template is used instead of a theme template.
- Activate a default WordPress theme, like Twenty Sixteen. If the issue is still there, please leave things as they are and let me see the site from there so I can check it out.
Let’s start there and see what we find. 🙂
Thanks!

MemberHowdy Dan!
This is a strange one indeed because, as you say, it’s something we both haven’t been able to reproduce on other test servers.
Does it happen with all recurring events or just a select few?
Also, what happens if you delete one of those affected recurring events and create a new one? Does the issue happen then?
I also notice you have a number of plugins installed, one of which is a customization to the calendar and another for event tickets. Are those having any impact at all? Just checking since I’m not entirely sure what’s in those.
Thanks!

MemberHi @dcantato,
Good question. The Community Events login and registration feature pulls directly from WordPress. In other words, the plugin does not attempt to change the WordPress process.
That said, the plugin does give you some control over role permissions once registered:
- First off, you can moderate all submissions before they are published. This ensures that nothing that could possibly be published without your approval.
- You can also block all or specific roles from being able to access to the WordPress dashboard. This protects you from inadvertently allowing certain roles into the back end of the site.
There is also the User Role Editor plugin which is a handy way to add and remove permissions from specific roles. I’d suggest that as another method for customizing the access level provided to newly registered users.
How does a user become assigned to a specific event organizer so that they can update and modify their events only? – when I tested as myself I could not add a new organizer.
Users and organizers are different things in the sense that the user is the author of the event and the organizer is an object that is assigned to the event, like a venue. In other words, users do not become assigned to a specific event organizer but can assign an organizer to an event.
Does this help clarify things a bit? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberHey again, Ben!
Good question. Yes, a featured image can be added to tickets, but you’ll need to head to WooCommerce > Products, click on the ticket, then add the image there.
Does that help? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberHi Ben,
Great question! Event Calendar PRO includes the feature to create recurring events. In other words, that would allow you to create the same ongoing event.
However, Event Tickets Plus does not support recurring events at the moment. It is something we are working on but, in the meantime, limits things in such a way that the tickets created for the parent event in the recurring series is the ticket stock for all events in the series.
Sorry for the bad news, but does this at least help answer your question? Please let me know.
Thanks,

MemberHi Susan,
Very strange and sorry for the trouble!
The layout of the calendar looks much different than how it does right out of the box. My hunch is that there are a number of customizations made to the theme that are conflicting because I haven’t been able to see the same issue in a default WordPress theme.
Will you please do a few extra troubleshooting steps so we can narrow the issue down a little further?
- Please install a fresh copy of WordPress in a subdirectory (if you have a CPanel-type hosting account there will probably be a one-click install script to make this really easy)
- Don’t install anything except The Events Calendar (4.0.4) and Events Calendar PRO (4.0.3). Please also stick to a default theme — again, there’s no need to install anything else just yet!
- Create a few events so we have some test data to work with
- Can you replicate the same problem?
If you find you can replicate the problem under these conditions it would be awesome if you could stop and let us know so we can take a look while the site is still running under default conditions.
Thanks for your help!

MemberHey Samuel and thanks for bearing with us as we catch up from the holiday break. 🙂
This is really odd. Would you be willing to answer a few questions to help me get started?
- Are you using any custom templates? You can check by looking for a folder called tribe-events in your theme directory.
- Are there calendar-related snippets in your theme? You can check by opening the functions.php file and searching for anything with the word “tribe” in it.
- Did you notice a difference when testing for conflicts? In other words, were the events still out of order when you activated a default WordPress theme and deactivated all other plugins? If you could, it would be great if you could leave the site in those default conditions so I can see the issue from there.
Also, it would be super helpful if you could snag your system information (under Events > Settings > Help) and paste them here as a private reply.
Let’s start there and see what we find, thanks!

MemberHey there, Matt, and sorry for the trouble!
That certainly sounds odd. I’m having trouble getting the same stuck loader on my test site–it could still be an issue, so let’s keep digging deeper to see what the difference might be.
First off, I see you noted having tried:
- Deactivated all other plugins? Yes
- Switched to a default theme? Yes
Did you happen to notice a difference when doing that? How about when activated a default WordPress theme (let’s say Twenty Sixteen) and deactivating all other non-Modern Tribe plugins at the same time–with exception to WooCommerce, of course. Any difference when creating new tickets in those conditions?
Let’s start there. If the issue is still happening in those default settings, then we’ll want to try some deeper troubleshooting on perhaps a fresh test site.
Thanks!

MemberHi Jason,
That’s a really interesting idea! I wish I could say that was an options right out of the box, but am afraid it’s not. In fact, I’d suggest you add it to our feature request forum if you have a moment because I can see how that would be a neat feature others would find useful.
That said, I do believe it would be possible to make this happen, though it would take some custom development. You’re already on the right track as far as knowing the template you’d need to modify. From there, you might explore adding some conditional statements within the loop for tickets that would limit the display for certain tickets, perhaps based on Product or even Event category?
Sorry I don’t have a concrete solution for you, but does this at least help answer your question? Please let me know.
Cheers!

MemberHi Pat,
So sorry for the trouble here! This is indeed something that’s been reported and we have a ticket to fix it up in our system.
While I don’t have a timeframe for when a patch will be released, I will mark this thread Pending Fix. Also, you can add this CSS to your theme’s style.css file or using the Simple Custom CSS plugin to hide the extra block:
tribe_community_edit .tribe-events-before-html { display: none !important; }Thanks for the heads up!

MemberHi Jason,
Thanks for reaching out — sorry for the delays as we’ve been catching up from the holiday break. I know how crummy it is to wait for an initial reply, so my sincere apologies!
The update from 3.0 to 4.0 is a major one. I see you have the latest version of The Events Calendar (4.0.4) installed. That’s a great start.
From there, I see you have Events Calendar PRO 3.12.4 installed. Will you please update it to the latest version — currently at 4.0.3? You can download the plugin by logging into this site and heading to My Account > Downloads. From there, you can follow these instructions to install the update.
Lastly, I also see that a plugin called The Events Calendar Shortcode that is installed. Will you please deactivate it before activating the other plugins? That plugin isn’t from us and I want to make sure it doesn’t conflict with the latest versions.
Let’s start here and see what we find.
Thanks,
GeoffGeoff
MemberThanks Alexander! I really appreciate the help so far. 🙂
Can you try adding this to your theme’s functions.php file:
add_filter( 'tribe_events_rewrite_utf8_handling', '__return_false' );What I’m hoping is that disabling the calendar’s method for handling non-Roman characters will clean up how the URLs are being translated.
Thanks!
