ParticipantActually I am having the same problem as this link:
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/recurring-events-looping/We have a recurring event setup, if you hover over the event the link that is displayed is correct, however if you click the event it opens the “/all/” link. Any attempt to open the first event just reloads the same page.
Here is the odd part. As of today, if the date of the first event falls on March 12th or earlier it fails. If I move the first event to March 13th or later it works correctly. I left both events setup on the server.
I disabled all plugins except for Event Calendar and Pro, I changed themes to 2015 and removed all template changes, I disabled all caching (Cloudflare, WP-Rocket, Siteground) but it still fails.
Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this on any other test server.

MemberHowdy Dan!
This is a strange one indeed because, as you say, it’s something we both haven’t been able to reproduce on other test servers.
Does it happen with all recurring events or just a select few?
Also, what happens if you delete one of those affected recurring events and create a new one? Does the issue happen then?
I also notice you have a number of plugins installed, one of which is a customization to the calendar and another for event tickets. Are those having any impact at all? Just checking since I’m not entirely sure what’s in those.
Thanks!

It’s happening with all recurring events (before March 12th).

Yes. If I delete and recreate it still fails. If I move a broken event to after March 12th, the event works. If I move it back to the original date it fails.
I also noticed someone else complaining about the same issue. If you check her event http://t221.org/event/asm-meeting/all/ and click on the March event it fails, but click on the April event and it works.

It just contains some of your snippets (e.g. Organizer & Venue rename, default event start/end time, and a few others. I did disable all plugins except for Event Calendar & Pro ut it still failed.

MemberThanks for following up, Dan!
One more thing I’d like to ask you to try is following the steps outlined here:
It’s a bit of a long shot because I’m not convinced this is a 404-related issue, but it’s good to rule it out and the steps may help resolve other issues as well.
Please give that a shot and see if it makes a difference.
Thanks!

ParticipantWoo-Hoo! I can reproduce the problem. Talk to me about timezones…
Let me see if I can explain this. I am in the New York timezone, this particular server is set for the Chicago Timezone. The Event Calendar was set for “Use the sitewide timezone everywhere”.
If I change a broken event to the New York timezone, it fixes the event. If I change timezone of the server to New York, it fixes the event. If I change Event Calendar to “Use the local timezones for each event”, it fixes the event.
I can also break a working server by setting the server to a different timezone than me and setting “Use the sitewide timezone everywhere”.
I hope that makes sense.

MemberOh weird! Funny how the timezone setting would be having an effect on recurring events.
But I see exactly what you mean and have ticketed it for us to check out. Nice work digging into that–I am not sure how I would have come to the same conclusion!
I don’t have a timeframe for when we’ll be able to hit this, but I will mark this thread Pending Fix and keep you posted as I know more.
Thanks for reporting this!

MemberHello,
Thank you for reporting this issue. We weren’t able to get a fix for it into our upcoming release (4.1). However, please know that the problem is still on our radar and is ticketed within our system to be addressed in a future maintenance release. We’ll do our best to keep you posted when we are able to get a solution in place. Thank you for your patience while we improve and expand our plugins.
Best,

MemberHi Dan,
I just wanted to follow up here to let you know that this should be fixed in the latest versions of the plugins:
- The Events Calendar 4.1.0.1
- Events Calendar PRO 4.1
A few of us here on the team tested this out using the latest versions and all appears to be working smoothly. Please do hit us with a new thread if this continues to be an issue for you and we’d definitely be happy to look back into it to see what’s up.
In the meantime, thanks for your patience here and for letting us fix this with you!
Geoff
