I am having a similar issue as this:

Find out more links simply refresh page

When the user clicks on a recurring event it displays a list of all the future recurrences of that event.

If the user clicks on the ‘event title’ link and/or the ‘Find out more’ link, it simply reloads the existing page rather than redirecting to the detail view for that particular event.

    Here is a sample: http://www.totallyairdrie.com/event/knitters/all/

To complicate matters even more, I can make a new (recurring) event and it works just fine; here is an example of a recurring event I just made: http://www.totallyairdrie.com/event/test4/all/

New events seem to work (at first). However, suddenly the newly created (recurring) event will stop working.

For example, the knitters event above was created as /test3/ and it worked; then somehow, as I was changing the dates, times, text, etc from /test3/ to /knitters/ it stopped working. Same thing happened to /test2/.

However, I did make some changes to test 1 and it’s still working: http://www.totallyairdrie.com/event/test-01/all/

    Theme is Virtue Premium: http://www.kadencethemes.com/

Tried changing theme to 2015 but it didn’t make any difference.

Also tried deactivating all the plugins (except calendar) and no difference.

Plugins are Events Calendar PRO, Community add-on and iCal add-on.

    Thank you.

I also just noticed that the recurring event display is incorrect:

    Details
    Date: March 7, 2016
    Time: Community

And, here is a recurring event that also works correctly:
    http://www.totallyairdrie.com/event/sunday-lunch/all/

The first entry is messed up but the others are fine:

    Date: November 22
    Time: Food & Drink

    Event Category: Food & Drink

The recurring events are still not working, however I did remove the sample events etc. I am currently promoting the calendar and don’t want my viewers to see all the ‘test events’. I am also in the process of removing all recurring events from my calendar. Hopefully there is a fix for this.

    Hi Janice,

Sorry for the troubles here with recurring events–let’s dig into this together and see what’s happening.

I’ve tried creating a handful of recurring events myself to test things out and haven’t been able to get the same sort of redirect oddity.

That said, I have seen similar reports in past that have been chalked up to caching issues on the server. In other words, the server was capturing and freezing data and needed to be refreshed for the recurrences to link properly. This seems to be relevant in your case since the issue affects some events but not others.

For example, does the issue go away if you delete the recurring event that is affected and create a new one in its place? Let’s give that a shot and see what we find.

    Thanks!

Thank you, the caching suggestion is worth looking into because it is happening to some recurring events but not others; I have recreated 4 events and only 2 worked.

We don’t have a caching plugin however the site is using CloudFlare (at BlueHost) so maybe that’s it.

Also I have seen caching software applied at the server level (we have a few sites at iPage).

I will followup and let you know what we find.

    Hi Geoff,

We deactivated the cloudflare 24 hours ago but it didn’t solve the problem.

    See: http://www.totallyairdrie.com/event/apl-lego-club/all/
    http://www.totallyairdrie.com/event/apl-lego-club/2016-01-12/

However, this is a pre-existing event, so maybe it would be OK if we posted a NEW recurring event.

    Will try that next.

OK, so we tried adding a new recurring event and had same issue.

We also setup the site on a different server and had same issue.

(although, I have noticed that since we removed the cloudflare the issue has changed slightly; from looping to going to a 404 page).

We are going to turn the cloudflare back on now because the site is too slow without it.

    Thank you

The recurring events seem to be working on the other server.

The only difference seems to be the PHP version.

We will send details of the new server privately.

    Thank you

So, here we go again, the cloned site (on a different server) was fine yesterday but now it’s doing the same thing as the live site:
    >>> The recurring events links (See All) go to the 404 page.

I would presume it was the cache, however:
    – we have no caching plugins
    – and we turned off the server-cache (iPage.com Shared Hosting) as soon as we setup the site; e.g. iPage has a caching feature located in the cpanel and we turned everything OFF when we installed the clone

So, I just added a recurring event to the test/cloned site using the community add-on:
    http://test.totallyairdrie.com/events/community/add

    – it was pending
    – I made it private-published
    – and it’s broken, right from the start
    – the (See All) link goes to the 404 page

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you

OK, so I actually ran into another thread with this same issue — where the the links for recurring events on the /all/ page were not linking to the events themselves.

Through a bunch of troubleshooting (much like here in this thread) we’ve found that the issue happens when the”Use the sitewide timezone everywhere” setting is enabled in Events > Settings.

If you disable that on your live site (not the clone), do you notice a difference?

You can see more context for the troubleshooting here:

    Broken Recurring Events

    Thanks!
