Hi Mike: I’m surprised to hear there would be a 1/2 hour offset in those circumstances: is this a problem you are seeing regularly? Is it possible that at the time of import the event time (on Facebook) was different?
HoweverI can only choose one default post category in the main WP settings and none of these categories show up in the Events category options.
Hi! It sounds like perhaps you are describing a facet of your theme or another plugin here – ordinarily, WordPress does not restrict your main blog loop to a specific category. If that is the case, ie your theme is imposing this restriction, it will unfortunately be a little tricky for us to help out with this one.

As Julie noted we’re probably going to be pretty limited in terms of how far we can guide you with something like this, but it’s certainly a highly customizable plugin and the resources Julie linked to should help to guide you in the right direction.
Hi all – as Julie mentioned we’ve made further progress here and I’d like to think we’ll see some changes rolling out shortly to help with the situations you have described. Hi rubinse: we investigated the possibility that automatic imports were not functioning and, so far as we could see, it all worked as expected. It is however possible that it isn’t working in your specific case for one of two reasons:
- There may be a conflict with another plugin or your theme
- It may be that scheduled tasks (essentially, regularly scheduled background tasks managed by WordPress) do not run in your hosting environment
With regards to the first point, our regular troubleshooting steps are a good way to confirm this and/or to isolate any conflicts:
- Please deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar and Facebook Events
- Ensure the two remaining plugins are up-to-date
- Switch to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Twelve
- Now test to see if automated imports function
I appreciate you many not want to leave your site in that state for a prolonged period, so setting up a new WordPress installation (perhaps in a subdirectory) could be a good way to here – if everything works successfully you could then start adding the other plugins and themes that you have installed on your live site and see if any cause automatic imports to fail.

Just to update you here – we did investigate this and auto-import does seem to be functional. It’s possible though that your hosting environment does not allow it (sometimes scheduled tasks – a type of background task managed by WordPress – cannot run) and if that is the case then there is unlikely to be much we can offer here.
Can you provide any details about your hosting package?
Hi Alex, let us know if that helped or if you have any further questions: one other approach you could use here is setting an additional field which could act as a “flag” – along with a template override, you could then selectively show or hide end times, for example.
