ParticipantHi All,
Well its been a year since I started using the events cal-pro and I still do not have any rich snippets showing on google, bing or yahoo. Im not sure what the problem is. Can you please shed some light on this for me? This is an example of a class I have on the calendar. http://www.northwestresponse.com/courses/medic-one-adult-first-aid-cpr-aed-training-0116/February 14, 2014 at 2:01 pm #104646Kelly
ParticipantHi, Thomas. Great question! 🙂
Admittedly, this is a bit outside the scope of support that we can provide here on the forums. If it’s something that you think we should consider adding for a future release, we’d be grateful if you would suggest it as a feature in our User Voice forum. That way we can gauge interest among the community as a whole.
Best of luck!

ParticipantWell according to this post it is “supposed” to be supported. https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/google-concert-rich-snippets-are-getting-high-seo/
Rob said
“That being said, we actually already implemented for the 2.0 release the use of Rich Snippets, using microdata format (see http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176035) and schema.org standard (see http://schema.org/Event) which is fully supported (and encouraged) by Google. At this point, via those, we’re doing as much as we can in the markup to help users with SEO.”February 14, 2014 at 2:42 pm #104674Kelly
ParticipantHi, Thomas. Please note that the post you’re referencing is two years old this month.
While, at this point, that’s broadly still accurate, please note we currently have an issue pending work because our microformat implementation needs more tweaking in version 3.x. Even so, as Rob stated in the same reply, there’s nothing you can do in the markup to guarantee yourself a top spot on the Google search rankings.
Also, so you know, when we’ve updated our microformat implementation, you’ll see a remark about it in our release notes.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantI wasn’t asking for a #1 spot I was referencing the post. I do want to know why Googles data highlighter cannot understand my EventCal Pro pages. I was told personally by Rob that the feature was supported, much like you would see with Eventbrite. But what you are now saying is that is not supported, and it dosent work?

MemberHi Thomas – Rob here. Just wanted to check in with you: Kelly is unfortunately out this week due to an unexpected situation, so I figured I’d personally step in here to get you an update and to confirm that this sounds like an issue we’ve been working on regarding microformat implementation. That said, I’ve passed it on to my more technical colleague Barry, who will get you a reply here within 24-hours max.
Thanks for your patience and our apologies for the delay here. Please let me know if you need anything else from me.

MemberHi Thomas:
Sorry for any confusion here.
We’re currently in the process of revising our structured data implementation (the “hidden” fields that some search engines and other services look for) as it did indeed recently come to light that some further work could be done to improve things in this regard.
That said, if I use a structured data testing tool to inspect the URL you shared – although some shortcomings are certainly apparent – there is at the same time a good amount of event related data that is successfully being read.
In summary then, yes, we definitely need to make further improvements and have a plan in place to do so, but at the same time your event-related pages are not completely devoid of structured data. I’m also sorry that the previous thread you linked to perhaps came across as a little misleading – that’s not our intention of course – but it’s worth bearing in mind that things change quickly and old replies from 2012 or earlier (which relate to a very different iteration of the plugin) probably are not too reliable a guide to rely on.
Does that clarify things at all?

MemberI’ll go ahead and close this thread as it doesn’t look like you have any further questions at this point: of course please don’t hesitate to create new threads if you need help with anything else. Thanks!

MemberHi there,
I just wanted to let you know that we have been working diligently on a fix for this issue. Our next release will be available soon and should correct this problem. Please keep an eye on your Plugins and Updates pages for a version update. If you are still having problems after updating, please start a new thread with the details and we can assist you.
Best,
