KeymasterHi Jenny,
Your events are safe, you wouldn’t have lost them. 🙂
The events and all related data is saved in the database. The files basically just help you manipulate that data.
When you delete the files, whether you do it on your FTP, or on your Dashboard you go to Plugins and Deactivate + Delete it there, your event data will not be touched. They will still be there next time you install / activate the plugin.
Do you have any other questions I can help you with?

KeymasterHello Jenny,
Ouch! I’m sorry to hear that your site broke during an update. That’s no good. Looks like something went wrong during the update.
I checked your site now and it looks like you have managed to fix it. Nonetheless here are some tips you can do when that happens next:
- log in to your server where your site is hosted and delete the folder of The Events Calendar, which should be wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar. After deleting make sure your site works and then go to Plugins > Add new, look for The Events Calendar and reinstall it.
- If that still gives you issues then you can delete and roll back to / install an earlier version. You can download these from your account or from the .org repo here.
- Make a full backup of the files and the database, so you can roll back if something like that happens. There are a good number of free and premium backup plugins that can help you with this.
- Test the update first on a test site. If you see it works there, then do it on the live site. (After a backup. 🙂 )
I hope this helps. Please, let me know if there’s still anything I can help you with.
Cheers,

KeymasterHi Miguel A.,
Thanks for going Pro and welcome to the forums!
I can try to help you with this, note however that based on our support policy we are limited in doing customization. I can give you some pointers and tips, but you will need to do the heavy lifting yourself.
The category snippet is a good start.
You will still need to modify your main blog loop query so that the appropriate events are pulled in. You can try to do that in 2 ways:
- include events that are marked as ‘featured event’ – in this case you will most probably not need the category snippet
- include events that are added to a specific category
I recommend these articles as a starting point to modify the main query.

https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Action_Reference/pre_get_posts

I hope this will help you get started. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with to move forward.

KeymasterHappy to hear it helped! Awesome!
More questions? Sure, let them come. 🙂
I believe the events there are sorted based on their start time in the day. If there is a recurring event, than that might precede that.
If they all start at the same time then I believe it’s alphabetical.
Out of the box there is no way to influence the order. If you want to have an option an all the event pages so you can set up the order one-by-one, then you would need to develop that functionality. I’m not quite sure how easy or difficult that would be though.

KeymasterOkay, I understand.
I have tested this on my tests sites and couldn’t reproduce the issue so far with IE 11.608.15063.0
Can you please check in your Internet Explorer whether this site works as expected? I have the latest WordPress and the latest of our plugins installed there, nothing else.

Since you are testing on local, can you then go to Events > Help and paste in the full system information from the black box into a private reply here?
It would be also helpful if you could share some screenshots of the issue.
Even better would be if you could set up a live test site where the issue can be produced.
Does it also happen when you only have The Events Calendar active without PRO? Or it only happens with PRO?

KeymasterThanks for the vote, the feedback and the suggestion. I’ll bring it to manager and see if we will do a test.
Eventbrite Tickets would definitely be a great alternative. Note however that in order to use our Eventbrite Tickets plugin you will also need The Events Calendar. It will not work without that.
Is there anything else I can help you with before we mark this topic closed?

KeymasterHello Palmtree,
Thanks for getting in touch!
For the datepicker we are using an external library and the date settings in WordPress or The Events Calendar have no effect on this. It looks like not even the browser language has an effect on this, so might be the Operating System language and date format setting as a default.
I will try to check if it can be influenced by some code. Please hang in there while I do this, it might take some time.
Thanks,

KeymasterHey Daniel,
Thanks for getting in touch!
I’m sorry about this Facebook connection issue. I’ve seen it before but very rarely.
What will likely help is re-authenticating Facebook from the start. To do this log into Facebook, click on the arrow at the top right (next to the question mark icon), then click on ‘Settings’.
Now on the left side look for ‘Apps’ and click. Find ‘Event Aggregator’ in the apps list (screenshot) and remove it by clicking on the little ‘X’ that shows up when you hover over it.
Now go to your website with The Events Calendar to Events > Settings >Â APIs tab and disconnect Facebook if it is not yet disconnected.
After all this re-connect and re-authorize again by clicking on the ‘Connect to Facebook’ button.
I hope this helps solve it. Let me know how it plays out.

KeymasterHello Teri,
I’m sorry about this issue you are experiencing. I’m here to help you with this.
Can you check and send me a screenshot of your Global Import Settings, which you can find under Events > Settings >Â Import tab.
You can find a setting there which limits the amount of events imported. You can experiment with different settings if any of them are suitable for you.
Let me know if this does the trick.

KeymasterHi Steve,
Thanks for sharing the URL.
Unfortunately the screenshots got lost in the matrix. They get dumped when sent as an email attachment.
Could you please log in to the forum thread and upload them directly?
Thanks!

KeymasterThanks Robert,
I would need to do some further investigation on this. For that reason could you share your system information with me and the url of the site where this is happening?
Thanks,

KeymasterHi Jan,
I checked your site again, specifically that page with the recurring event. I refreshed it a couple of times and it gave me different recommended /related events each time. Sometimes of course it gave me the same event as I was looking at, but a different date.
I believe that is working properly.
You might find some plugins which help you customize what related posts / events are chosen. I ran a google search on the phrase “how are related posts chosen” and saw some options there. Maybe that could help.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

KeymasterHey Ron,
Thanks for reaching out and for using our plugins!
I’d be happy to help you find the source of the issue.
I see you have quite a number of events in your calendar, and there are also a lot on those 2 pages.
Could you please pinpoint a couple events which are not being imported to your calendar? That would be really helpful.
Also please do share with me a screenshot about your Global Import Settings, which you can find under Events > Settings > Imports tab. Thanks!

KeymasterHello Robert,
Thanks for going Pro and welcome to the forums!
Sorry about the issues with the links. Let me try to help you with that.
Could you please share your system information with me as a start? Thanks!
I would also like to ask you to go through our conflict testing guide and see if that uncovers anything. It could be that a plugin or a theme that your are using causes some interference.
Thanks and looking forward to helping you solve this.
Cheers,
