MemberYup, definitely. We’ve got 2.0.7 out the first week of June and 2.1 this summer, so if you’d let us know whether the issue persists or is resolved as you venture forward, we will continue looking into it as needed. Thanks for being patient and bearing with us so far.
Rob
MemberAnthony: thanks for confirming. That option isn’t meant for the widget; it is the upcoming events list (the option you can switch to from calendar as your default events view).
Rob
MemberHey Chris. Thanks for reaching out. The upgrade to 2.0 was a paid one for all users given the extent of the code changes, but existing users were entitled to a 30% discount that I’d be happy to give you. Shoot us an email (pro /a/ tri.be) and we’ll hook it up.
Rob
MemberHey Michael. “Aaahhh”? 🙂 Thanks for reaching out on this. That’s an odd issue and is definitely not the experience you’re intended to have. Can you confirm that you’re running 2.0.6 for both free & PRO, and that (I know this will sound redundant) all those fields are definitely filled in on the backend?
I’d also suggest going to Settings -> The Events Calendar and switching to a different template from the dropdown, to see whether this is tied to a specific template or widespread. Let us know and we’ll try to troubleshoot from there. Apologies for the inconvenience in the interim.
Rob
MemberHey Lloyd. Thanks for reaching out. Have you checked out our template tag documentation at tri.be/support/documentation, to see if it pointed you in the right direction? While I’m not sure you’d be able to get them totally random you could certainly control the events that appear with some finesse, and not just rely on what the system kicks out…
Let me know if that helps, and I can adjust my response if it isn’t.
Rob
MemberThat is an awesome idea, Nicole. Hadn’t thought of that – have you seen such functionality elsewhere? Would be awesome to check it out if you were thinking of this based on something you’d seen…
Rob
MemberHi folks. This is a known issue that we introduced in the 2.0.6 code; this problem generally only arises if you update The Events Calendar first without updating PRO (but once you update PRO it goes away). More than anything it’s an inaccurate message that needs to be updated. That change will be reflected in the 2.0.7 release coming at the start of June.
Rob
MemberMichelle: did you ever get any assistance on this? Just wanted to check.
Shannon: isn’t that site awesome? That was a heavy customization job I’m sure. The closest thing we’ve put together along those lines so far is this tut on how to show featured thumbnails in the next event widget: https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-show-featured-thumbnails-in-the-next-events-widget/.

MemberSteph, Juergen, Javier: thanks for the thoughts so far. Most of these have been mentioned at one point or another, so your vote just strengthened their position; a couple of others (like the newsletter) are definitely neat.
Organizers will probably be getting their own frontend page eventually so their link will behave more like a frontend venue. But I can see the need to have those organizer links within that sub-page behave as Steph noted.
Rob
MemberExcellent to hear! Thanks for confirming as much, Gareth. Let us know if you encounter any other obstacles down the road.
Rob
MemberGood luck! 🙂 Let us know what you come back with and if it gives you any trouble.
Rob
MemberThanks rudeetours. I’ve passed sent this Jonah’s way to make sure he sees it (the email notifications have been buggy lately) and he should be taking a look shortly.
Rob
MemberAwesome suggestion, Henry…as always. Thanks for sharing.
Morena: let us know if you’re still having any issues or questions after digesting the information Henry has presented above.

MemberThanks for confirming as much, Javier. Let me get Jonah from our dev team to take a look and double check that the code presented in that tutorial (which was a few releases ago) hasn’t changed for 2.0.6. While we can’t provide significant support for user-submitted tutorials, we’ll do what we can to point you in the right direction. You may want to reach out to that author directly though, if we’re unable to help you to the extent you wish.
Let’s see what Jonah has to say first.
May 15, 2012 at 3:22 pm in reply to: Upcoming and Feature Widgets sometimes don't display content #19227Rob
MemberThanks for the follow-up, Byron. That is weird. When I recreate it on my end, I’m seeing the content in the events widgets appearing in both locations. But my theme uses the same sidebar area (under Appearance –> Widgets) to configure these; meaning they’re the same widgets being used in both locations, rather than two separate identical setups of the widget. Is yours configured the same way?
If so, it’s almost certainly a conflict (and I would wager with the Content Aware Sidebars plugin). Are you in a position to test deactivating that?
Hope that helps and thanks for the words. Let me know if you’re still having issues from there and we can keep troubleshooting.
