Thank you Bettie. Hopefully Events Calendar PRO can be WPML-compatible in the future.

    Hey digg,

Are you referring to our ticketing plugins? Some of the strings relevant to those are within the .pot files for The Events Calendar, but the rest of the strings for those plugins are in the individual .pot files. We have them available for downloading and translation in the Getting Started post.

I checked our notes, and it looks like we could use updates to the Spanish translations of Facebook Events, Community Events, and Eventbrite Tickets. We don’t have any Spanish translation for EDD Tickets or Shopp Tickets, so those would also be great to have you translate. Just let me know if you are interested in working on any of those.

    Hi Morten,

Thanks so much for working on this! Our Norwegian users will be very appreciative. I’ve ticketed these files for inclusion in an upcoming version of our plugins. We will be sure to credit you in the readme.txt file.

I’ll also be emailing your shortly with a coupon for a free Events Calendar PRO license. Thanks for your hard work!

    Hi aurelio,

Thanks for getting in touch and for your interest in translating our plugins! We’d love to have your help. Although most of our plugins have been translated into Italian, a number of the translations are getting outdated. Community Events, WooCommerce Tickets, and Eventbrite Tickets could all use an update. I would love to have you update The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO too. Also, we do not yet have any Italian translation for our Shopp Tickets plugin.

I would be happy to give you licenses for plugins you’d like in exchange for translations of the above plugins. Just let me know which you’re working on, and be sure to follow the instructions in our Getting Started post for updating existing translations. You can then post your completed translations here. Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi Jan,

Thanks for getting in touch and for including a screenshot- that really helped me understand the issue right away.

The @ sign is not replacing the year, it’s just that on the single event page and in List View the date shows as Month Day @ Time. The year only shows if it is not the current year (that is, events in 2015 would show the year but not in 2014). This is not controlled by the WP General settings or changeable via the translation, but it is possible to change it with some customizations of the calendar plugin.

If you’d like some help changing the date format or the @ symbol, please post a thread in our Events Calendar PRO Forum and a member of our support team will be able to help you there. Thank you for your support!

    Hi Oliver,

I’d be happy to help you out. Would you mind starting your own forum thread so I can help you there? Please include what version(s) of the plugins you are running and some screenshots of the problematic areas.

    Thanks,

    Hi Sean,

There isn’t an existing en.po file in our plugin, so you’ll need to make one, edit it, and add it to the correct folder in order for this to work.

If you’re unfamiliar with how translations work in WordPress, you’ll want to head to the Getting Started post and/or our Translations page for some tips on changing the language, etc. The Getting Started post also explains how to update an existing .po file with a newer .pot file, which you’ll need to do if we update parts of the calendar that include Venue or Organizer.

Does that answer your question? I’d be happy to walk you through the process more if you need help. The translation stuff can be rather confusing! And you can always post in the Translation Forum too 🙂

    Hi marcg,

Thanks for posting and for providing a thorough description of the problem. I apologize that it took us this long to get back to you. I can definitely see how this would be a pain!

We are happy to look into this issue for you. I’m going to have one of my team members take a look as soon as possible tomorrow morning and get you a more substantial response. Thank you for your patience and support.

    Hi idviclgi,

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, The Events Calendar does not work 100% with WPML. We’re hoping that in the future WPML will update so we can better integrate, but at this time they don’t really cooperate. I know that some folks have used the two together with various results, so you might try searching the forums to see if anyone else found some solutions. But unfortunately this isn’t really something we can assist you with.

If you’re interested in having the plugin appear in one language at a time, that is something we can do- we have an ongoing translation program that would help you. If you’re interested in doing that, check out our Translations page. You can ask any questions in our special Translations Forum.

I’m sorry we won’t be able to help you with WPML. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hi simplicitymetrics,

Thanks for getting in touch! I apologize for the delayed response here. I’m going to have one of my team members take a closer look at this since I believe he’s seen this sort of behavior before. In the meantime, you might want to take a look at our Themer’s Guide and see if that can shed some light on the conflict.

Thanks for your patience. Hopefully Brook will be able to give you some tips.

    Hi jmbalsa,

Although some parts of The Events Calendar respect what you have set in your main WP Settings, there’s a number of dates (like the Day View title) that don’t. You’d need to do some customizing to change those, which is outside our scope of support to assist with.

You might want to check out the main Events Calendar PRO forum to see if someone else has been able to do this. This thread has one possible solution for you. Good luck!

    Hi Sean,

I apologize for my delayed response here!

It is not possible to do a template override with the lang folder, so you can’t prevent it from being re-written when you update the plugin. If you create the-events-calendar-en.po/.mo files to change terminology, you will need to put them back in the /lang folder each time you update the plugin. It may be easier for you to follow the other route for this reason.

If you do decide to edit the translation files, make sure that you search through and catch each instance of Organizer and Venue so that you have consistency across the board. It’s also possible that you’ll need to update the .po file with an updated .pot file in the future. Check out our Getting Started post in the Translations Forum for more info on translating.

I apologize again for the delayed response. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you here.

    Cheers,

    Leah

    Hi rubie31,

Thanks for getting in touch. At this time, our plugin is not 100% compatible with qTranslate. I know that there are other users who have tried to get the two to work together, but it’s not something we can support. You might try searching in the Events Calendar PRO Forum to see if anyone has had success integrating the two.

If you’d like to encourage us to work on integrating with qTranslate, you can add you votes to the relevant thread on UserVoice.

I apologize for any inconvenience, and I’m sorry we can’t be of more help with this.

    Hi digg,

Thanks for updating the translation! I really appreciate it. I checked the files and they looked great, so we’ll be adding them to a future version of the plugin. We’ll credit you in the readme.txt, and I’ll be emailing you shortly with a coupon to get a free license or renewal.

Most of the text in the WordPress admin would be translated by WordPress itself. To see more in Spanish, you’ll need to download and install WordPress for your language. Then more of the admin will be translated (as well as some WP-controlled parts of The Events Calendar).

    Thanks again!

    ~Leah
