Hello Caroline, have you had a look at our Community Events add-on for the Events Calendar? https://theeventscalendar.com/wordpress-community-events/

Is that what you are looking for?

I was also given this solution: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/category-title/#post-21971 – can you give that a go and let me know if it works for you?

    Hello Joseph,

Unfortunately version 1.3 has been totally decommissioned. We switched straight to 2.0 when we re-launched at tri.be after being at Code Canyon. Since the changes between 1.x and 2.0 were so substantial, this was a paid upgrade for all users. A 2.0 account is at this time required to hit the PRO forums, which is why, I see, you have posted here and not in the support forum.

To provide you any real support, I will need you to upgrade to the latest version of our plugin, which is much more stable, and far more advanced than the one you have. If you write to me at pro /at/ tri.be and link to this thread, I can get you a discount on a new license, since you were a previous customer.

With all that said, your question regarding the ordering of events without the use of dates sounds almost impossible to me – at least not without some custom coding.

The principle of The Events Calendar is that it uses WordPress posts to create events. WordPress posts themselves are ordered by date. Since it is a calendar plugin, which is what we market and promise to our users, it is natural that it follows a date-order.

For Event Calendar categories, our new version does have this ability, though the URL structure at present is not hierarchical, though this should be fixed very soon.

    I hope this helps!

    Hello Sarah,
If you write to pro /at/ tri.be I can get you a beta copy of our CSV importer – it is still in the works though.

I looked up the specific answer to this from our FAQs and found this:

“Can I import event data from other calendars like iCal, Google Calendar, Outlook, etc?

Not currently — as it stands, events can go out but can’t come in. We released iCal export support in 1.1.2 with a patch to it in 1.1.3, for both individual events and full calendar. Simple append /ical to the url. (As you’ll see, we added an iCal import button at the bottom of the page). Google Calendar export exists and is functional as of release 1.2 as well. Exporting from Outlook is not supported at this time but may arrive in a future release. As for the broader question of importing, that’s still open for discussion but we have no plans to implement this currently on the books.”

Regarding the map, I found out that unfortunately there isn’t any support right now for the map in the Calendar beyond displaying the location for single events. However, I’ve heard you should be able to pull the addresses from multiple events using our template tags which you can find here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation

You should also be able to generate a Google map using the Google Maps API without too much trouble, according to our development expert here. He thinks it’s possible and straightforward but not sure how long it would take.

Also for the individual event pages you will want to add a width and margins to this:

    #content .tribe-events-event .widecolumn {

    Hello Scott,

One more thing to try – since you were able to fix the footer issue, if you switch to the default Page Template will that work?

If not, try adding a width and / or left and right margins to this selector:
    #tribe-events-content

Very interesting, thanks Sean! Do keep us updated! The dev team has been notified of it as well, so I’ll let you know if they say anything.

Hi Louis, the link says “You do not have permission to preview drafts.” and I can’t see anything else 🙁

Hi Kyle, you would either need to custom code this or install a plugin like wp members which can blog pages to only logged in users. I’m not sure if it works in conjunction with plugins that can control user roles, but you could give it a shot.

Hello Rene, are you saying the other calendar shows the locations correctly in Mexico, and ours does not? If this is the case, can you please link to two specific examples for us to see, one on their calendar and one on ours?

Can you also link to your site for us?

Are you using the latest version of all our plugins, and the latest version of WordPress? We will need you to upgrade to be able to help out in a more detailed way.

    Thanks!

Hi Jacob, have you tried any of our sidebar widgets? Those might do the trick for you. Your original post mentioned the grid view – is that what you want to use, or did you want a “list” as in your second post?
